Skynyrd's most dynamic guitarist, who even though he survived the plane crash still had a subsequent car vehicle accident which killed his girlfriend and left him in a wheelchair until his own death from pneumonia. Allen Collins deserved a better ending for all the joy his talent gave to the world.
Not too mention his true love, his wife that he married right out of high school passed away way too young due to a hemorrhage she suffered during a miscarriage of their 3rd child sad to say. He never got over that. Very tragic life indeed! May he rest in peace.. You are right he truly deserved a better ending then he got. Truly a gifted guitarist!

While in the Rossington Collins Band, MCA did very little promoting their 2ed album so Gary left. After Collins made this cd MCA did NOTHING to support the album making only a few copies--number unknown to me because they were over anything Collins. It's a GREAT album. Had Allen not drifted into the abyss I think he could have been huge on another lable. I'm sure he's at peace now because he was a tortured soul.

First the plane crash taking away one of the greatest front man and leader of his band and then his wife would test any man’s limits. I wish there could have been someone there to talk him off the ledge but there wasn’t. When I was in AA my mentor used to say you can only go on the information you got. That’s why gaining new healthy information and change helped me break away from ruining my life and possibly killing someone else when I used to drink and drive.

I miss being able to go see Stranger Band open for Molly Hatchet and The Outlaws. I got to see Rossington Collins band but was really disappointed they broke up so quickly. I really miss the days of paying $15 to see 3-5 big name bands and doobies passed around without fear of catching something. That’s a long time ago but never forgotten. I’d go back to say 78 right now. Actually 77 and try to save Ronnie and Steve and his sister Cassie!!!

I was fortunate to see the real LS 5 times. I went to the 6th concert about 4 years ago. I stayed maybe 15 minutes. Drank my beer on the way out. Donnie does a good job but the thing now is just not LS. Like GFR without Mark Farner, Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott. It's over.

I’m building a guitar from wood from the Hell House original Dock, and foundation from Hell House, and incorporating metal from the plane. Once it’s complete we will loan it out to touring musicians so those timber’s will continue to sing and vibrate. LLLS. @@gigidougherty6853 wow thank you SO much Gigi...on all 3 comments...each one has its own special deep meaning...i know they were all Christians....well i KNOW Allen knew Jesus....and his Dad was in the Navy same as mine...my Dad was in Viet Nam too....im so sorry you lost your uncle over there....God Bless You and thank you and your Uncle for his service....a lot of people out there dont understand that military families DO make sacrifices that are crucial to the country...we miss out on many things that others take for granted, and you suffered more than most..i hope you are hanging in there , and blessed in these difficult times.

@@scottcantor1842 Cameron Crowe said the same thing about Allen and Gary. His movie "Almost Famous" was based on the time he spent with different rock bands as a teenage writer for Rolling Stone mag.,including LS. There's a you tube video of him talking about Allen & Gary and how he hoped they'd be able to play again someday, after the plane crash had happened. Damn that plane and it's careless pilots :(

I’m building a guitar from wood from the Hell House original Dock, and foundation from Hell House, and incorporating metal from the plane. Once it’s complete we will loan it out to touring musicians so those timber’s will continue to sing and vibrate. LLLS.
