It's not right that all the best players have to be taken from us here in this planet.. Allen, Duane and JIMI for just a few. A friend of my in the "Skyles Calhoun Band" wrote a song called "lonesome black train" it talks about taking all the best and leaving behind the rest.
Thank you for putting this up on UA-cam. Great slide show, great sound. I am a convert to ACB! This song is the perfect storm of good lyrics, vocals and of course master guitar playing. Allen Collins Rocks. Thought that the photo at 3.20-4 most interesting. The one showing AC wearing a cervical collar and dressing on his left arm. Obviously taken some short time after the plane crash. (Thought it was the right arm nearly amputated?) Shows what kind of a musician he was- dedicated ,
The lead at 1:54 is so southern rock soul, Pure Allen Soul, but it sounds like another lead part takes over for a bit and then back to Allen, Is it Berry Harwood or maybe berry was just in RCB. and Allen played all? was it the other guy or just an overdub"
@@raymondwillardson4863 Yes I wish we heard more about Randall another great southern rock guitar player that was from the Jacksonville neighborhood like Harwood and Medlocke in the early days. I think when Randall went on the reunion tour first start up version that after a while I think a law suit started over pay or something.
Allen was the sound of Skynyrd
If I had to pick a musician or anybody famous that I wish was still alive it would be Allen. He is my favorite guitarist of all time.
Rest in Peace Mr Allen Collins ... one of the Greates Southern Rock Star.
Excellent job
Excellent photos .....
