I wouldn't recommend doing a rebuild of the database on the 5 mainly because ssd's don't really need to be "defragged" the same way hdd's need to. Most tech experts do not recommend doing that because it adds on to write limit of the ssd and you're just furthering the drive to its limit. Flash memory is designed to be really fast all the time and it can access the data much quicker than on a old hdd which will fragment the data as time progresses.
exactly only do rebuild database if something on your ps5 isn't working for example the other day i had to do it bc i couldn't use anything online thought it was an internet problem but nope it was a ps5 problem and i had to do the rebuild database
It isn’t a defrag however, It’s a database rebuild. A defrag reorganises the files (and the parts they are made up of) on the disk to contiguous storage locations. The database rebuild only recreates an index file. It is very effective at restoring the OS to its original performance.
@@davidpower3102 it's essentially the same process as you are still adding unnecessary writes to your drive. Since it has to rewrite the system files and it's really more ideal if you're having performance issues.
@@happygames9757 databases restoration still adds writes onto the ssd so in essence you should only be doing it when you are encountering performance lag or errors on the drive. And I wouldn't deem it necessary after a year if you haven't encountered any of that.

I opened both plates on mine after a full year of owning it and playing with it as regularly as I have the time, and it was standing vertical the entire time. No dust build-up anywhere. It's rather remarkable. Even the shelf itself has very little dust that's only been cleaned about 3 times in between. When I lived in a different city 10 years ago, a week of dust build-up on the furniture there was equal to more than two months of dust I get on the furniture here. That's all part of the local air quality.

That whole thing is BS and they retracted some of what they initially said. Either way, it's a super small sample size without any context of use prior to the repair shop. There is no problem.
another good tip...always clean the living space where you have your PS5. thats where your dust comes from, especially if its a very dirty room or poorly maintained
I have always kept some of those green plastic toothpick/flossing things in a little basket under my coffee table and a microfiber towel, and scrape out those grooves and wipe down the shell and joysticks during any long loading screens. I've never had a controller on any console get gross or even show residue or built-up gunk, you gotta take care if your stuff and it'll last longer. My two XBox One controllers are both from 2013 and could pass for almost brand new and work perfectly after thousands of hours. I also wipe my car dash and console at stoplights so I may be a bit compulsive with keeping things clean, but that's never been a bad thing in my personal opinion.

I didn't know this would happen and I've never seen any videos about this, but knowing that these joysticks are not the same as the PS4 solid plastic joysticks I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Thank you.
hey man! if you go to your ps5 setting screen do you notice any film grain if you look very closely that is in the background?
Kontrol freaks
@@n3onrossclipped what the hell are you talking about? Did you comment on the wrong thread
U prob just have a clean room or an open window
Luckily I got my ps5 before christmas and now I can watch these videos 🎉
I clean my controller everyday, just with some basic alcohol & paper towel, plus I always wash my hands before playing 😄
Did all this and now my ps5 no longer works. 10/10 video :)
i was thinking of getting external storage so thanks for the tip
Step one... get a ps5
I love he puts more effort into his voice then companies announcing big products.
I always just put mine in the dishwasher, comes out so clean 🫧 👍
I own a ps5 I got it for Christmas and these videos really help me out👍
Just got my ps5 4 days ago and I'm definitely gonna make sure I do this.
yo i have a question, can you do this for me and give me an answer? go into your settings page on your ps5 and closely look at the grey beams in the background of the page do you see any film grain? please let me know because it’s slowly driving me insane
Amazing straight to the point video man keep the hard work, we appreciate it.
I've only had my ps5 since 23th December 2022 so I think I'm good for now.
Can you do a review on the vertical and horizontal placement of the PS5???? I heard there’s some rumors going on that setting the PS5 Vertical can damage your console!
Rebuilding database will make you redownload patches for some games. Should have mention that.
1:13 pretty sure you aren't supposed to do that. Using a vacuum cleaner makes the fan rotate which can break your console.
This video is how I learned the DualSense is covered in tiny PlayStation button shapes
My controller started drifting after a few weeks, it doesn't deserve that kind of love!
I’ll be getting one soon, thanks for this.
Great contents are always underrated
Great video! Happy new year John 🎉
Had my PS5 since launch and can say I haven't had a controller last me one year yet 😅. Cleaning the dust from the console is a must for sure.
you must be throwing your shit around bcuz mine still works like the day I got it
@@coldnightmare199 I wish that was the case so I'd have only myself to blame! 😅 First two DualSense controllers I have had really bad stick drift after a couple of months of regular usage. The one my PS5 came with also started having trigger issues as well 😔
Only thing I may take from this list maybe to open the side plating clean inside the no other console I've ever owned had a problem with dust build up
Thank you! Going to do this now…haven’t cleaned it since I got it two Christmas’s ago 😅😅
This was nice and informative, thanks!
I’ve had my ps5 since day one and never done any of this 😂 guess I should start
It amazes me how some people don’t already know any of this
Man is my ps5 guru.
I would also recommend to keep the ps5 in the horizontal position permanently to prevent possible liquid metal leakage.
The website that made the claim retracted their statement said they made a mistake
@@Factsnotemotionssuggest you watch one of the videos that tronicfix did regarding this. Horizontal is better. Gravity influences liquid. Liquid Metal is… liquid.
Ergo, liquid laying on a flat surface is better than a vertical surface.

Thanks bro 🙏🏽
You have great wrists. Have you considered wrist modeling?
I don't even have a PS5 and I found this guide helpful, cheers mate
Awesome videos, thanks man.
And that's why I have a inexpensive dust cover. Thanks for the vid...👍
1) clean controller with antiseptic wipe and toothpick
2) removing face plates and cleaning both sides with dust, cleaning fan also
3) rebuild system database
