Not to say his videos are bad, in fact they are really helpful, but his thumbnails are always him pointing to something on a controller or something, obviously trying to make the viewer look further into clicking on it, and they do so thinking they might have a SERIOUS Problem but in reality it could be something as simple as “clean your controller.” So I mean I don’t really like the thumbnails if you couldn’t tell by that 19 paragraph essay I just wrote.

I proposed the idea to swap out the batteries after researching a bit about the batteries in the controllers, but my dad found a cheap and extremely easy alternative by buying two whole controllers with someone in state, rather than go through the hassle it can be to find rather specific batteries at any pawn shops, stores, or online.

The small inconvenience of charging some batteries outweighs the ps4 and ps5 controllers. I have now got a large battery bank on the couch with me with my ps4 controllers. this controller burns the battery faster. batteries have a life cycle that dies every time you charge it. the avg battery life is around 1.5 to 2 years depending on the size of the battery vs how often you charge it. if you charge it daily expect it to last around 2 years but if its an ipad for example that last a week before a charge well than you are looking at 4 to 6 years.

Electrical Contact Cleaner / 99% Isopropyl Alcohol will clean dirt and oil from the sticks (even dust acts like a lubricant since it's greasy which can cause drifting).
However, if it's a sudden spike where you lose control and it drifts uncontrollably, it may be interference with the Bluetooth signal (reposition the console or use the USB cable setting).
Sony have also acknowledged there was a hardware cause for drift too, apparently they fixed it with the new multicolour controllers (they also upgraded the metal trigger springs which tend to fail).

Would be nice to know what good charging habits are. I know from my RC hobby that Li-on batteries are stored at 3.85v per cell, and that loses life when stored at full charge, and also empty charge. In a device like this, we simply do not know the voltage so it's not easy to say what charge level works best and moreover, how to charge it there.
This is why the iPhone charges overnight partially and only completes the charge when it thinks you're likely to wake up and start using it to drain it to a longer lasting charge.

I have to wonder as to why they made it a bit of a hassle to replace the battery, while an Xbox’s battery is easily assessable. Sure, the Xbox’s controller doesn’t come with a rechargeable battery, but they are pretty cheap, from an official one to regular rechargeable ones you can get for ten to 20 dollars. Is it because they just want people to buy a new controller and get that extra profit?
Still, it’s good to see how it’s done on a PS5 controller. When I eventually get one, I’ll keep it in mind if something ever happens. Videos like this helps save people a TON of money and time.

You've brought up a valid point where certain Playstation fans have been giving Sony some imaginary W for XBOX using battery packs + AA when I've always seen that as more of an advantage. I do hope XBOX starts producing controllers with the haptics and force feedback triggers they've had a patent for their own since 2018. I can do without touch pad, speaker, microphone and other Dualsense features

    • @KHMDarkness
      @KHMDarkness 2 роки тому +1

@@lordxboss5700 I’ve seen people like that too. Honestly my first pair of rechargeable batteries lasted about ten full years before they finally died, and getting replacements was easy since I just needed the batteries instead of both them and the recharging plug-in (with both it was about $20, but for the batteries it was less than $10 for four of them. I’d say they more than paid for themselves!).
Having the batteries like that also removes a possible way it can break. Not everyone can do this, or not trust themselves to without breaking it. I don’t even trust myself to do that! So if there is a surge and it fries your batteries instead of the controller while it’s plugged in, then you save your a LOT of hassle if it’s like the Xbox’s.
Also the haptics and force feedback sounds to be really tiring in your fingers, and others have said that, but as long as you can turn it off if you want, I don’t see the harm in having it as an option. Microsoft might not want to include it to help keep the price of it down. It already costs us $60 per one, while the PS5’s costs $70.

@@KHMDarkness Ya I found a Energizer kit with 2 battery packs and charging station and it's perfect. It's a nice stand for the controllers and they're always charged. If they don't get charged for some reason I can just toss in a couple AA's 🤷‍♂️ I got it for my XBOX One and it's still working like new

@@rsh650 I said ‘not everyone’, which doesn’t assume only the person in the video or people you can hire can do this. It means that some people either can’t do it for one reason or another, or don’t trust themselves to try and repair a $70 controller and would rather pay someone who has done it before to do it instead.
Again, that’s almost $100 in your hands, and doing one small think wrong can break it, or even make the buttons click weirdly. I’m personally very particular about that, to where I can’t use third party controllers because of how bad they feel. So if there is a chance I could mess that up, however slim, I wouldn’t trust myself with that. Probably making something out of nothing, but still.

The joystick drift is driving me insane.
I bought the console in November, and by January I was already experiencing it.
It is -ever-so-slightly but it is there.
Makes dealing with the camera manually a hassle to handle if you already have to keep track over the game’s mechanics.
I have also noticed a small failure in input recognition.
It is not consistent, but every 6-8 inputs I put in, usually the last isn’t recognized by the either the games or the controller. I’m not really sure, but it has cost me so many death in Souls games.
Edit2: my PS5 got stolen 🥲. I guess the drift issue no longer matters.

6 months and my dual sense controller is unusable because the controller drift is so bad that it puts maximum tilt in any direction at any time on the left stick. At the same time, the right trigger became so loose that i can't rest my finger on it without it activating. I was going to send it back for warranty but figured it's useless if they just use the same shitty parts.

    Longevity tips:
1: Never fully charge the battery. About 80% charge is good.
2: Never deplete or go low on your battery. Charge around 40%.
In other words: Charge when reaching one bar (not blinking). Remove charge at two bars or early 3 bars.
I know its not a very practically way, but having this in mind will stress the battery least and will significally increase the lifespan. This goes for all lithium batteries in any electronics.
