An Aussie journalist was once asked, “Why does the Aussie cricket team win so much and Indian team lose so much?” He replied, “In India when the son returns home from playing cricket with friends his parents ask him ‘How many runs did YOU score?’ In Australia the parents ask the son, ‘Did your team win?’” And that is the greatest difference.

That's another way of saying that Indians play only for records. Bullshit. Yes, we celebrate personal records more than other places but no player in Indian team puts personal record over team win. Kohli, Iyer, Rahul hit sixes when they were in 90s during this cup. They were thinking about their 100? Aussies just have to throw bricks at India. I know this having lived in Aus for 7 years.

As an Aussie, I must say that this is an honest assessment of what actually occurred. It was obvious that everyone including many Aussies thought that we had little chance because this was India, the Indian cricket team was riding high, and the conditions were better suited to the home nation. However, nothing is certain in sport and that is why it is called a sport. We around the world can feel India's pain. We sports lovers have all been through it. However, at the end of the day, it is only just a game. Years ago, we shook our opponent's hand before and at the end of a game. Today, it is all about money and sportsmanship has gone out the window! The Indian fans who left the stadium before the presentation acted like spoilt children who went home to cry to their mothers. In life, we must accept that we will not always win! How we deal with defeat and get up off the floor builds character or it betrays lack of such.
I'm an Englishman who has lived in Australia for more than 50 years. I have come to love this country and the Australian spirit which is to never give up no matter what the odds. Further, they will always help the underdog because it is in their nature. It is indeed the greatest country in the world to live in and I call myself an Aussie these days. Democracy is not an idle word to be used lightly in Australia. It is a fact. Australia is truly the land of the free and its sporting prowess is second to none. New Zealand which lies across from us is much the same. We may be small in numbers but we always punch above our weight!

You feel that way because you are a Brit living in Australia. Indians face constant racism in Australia and also here, Australia said before the start of the final match that india would be all out after 65 runs and we will silence the crowd. So yeah, these Australians show their true colours always. You are lucky to not have faced that kind of ill treatment. So no, we aren't spoilt children, we just gave it to them in their own style. Good, people left the stadium.

Yes, ur Aussie team didn't win 1992 world cup in Australia, how many ICC world cup u hv won in Australia, so crowd pressure matters when it comes to Australia also , England shown they can win the cup in England. At least they didn't succum to.pressure . And Aussie spectators r also not so well behaved , so I will humbly tell you pls don't give moral lecture to indian crowds , they went to watch world cup bcoz india was playing. I don't care or care damn where Indians r not involved, why should I spend money on other countries. And if crowd pressure is the main cause of Indias loos in final, then i would ask you why india lost 2003 world cup final which was in South Africa, why india lost 2007 champions trophy final against Pakistan which was in England. Why india lost two world cup test championship which happened in England. So practically urs and Raajdeeps analysis is damn wrong. Only and only Dhoni was a successful captain who won t20 world cup in South Africa, 50 over final in Mumbai and champions trophy in England. So don't give lame duck analogy, Australia sporting culture bla bla bla , it's nothing . Better team Australia under Ricky ponting lost in quarterfinal in Mohali against India , was Australia in pressure in 2011. Yes , india played bad cricket, and india is playing bad cricket specially in knock out matches in every tournament. It's matter of weak temperament, not skill . As long as indian players will not temperamentally strong enough , they will not be able to win any trophy . That's the reality . It's mental, blaming BCCI suits Rajdeep bcoz Jay Shah is running the board, je is anti BJP, , he is politicising, why Virat Kohli failed to win trophy, why sourav ganguly failed? Only Kapil Dev and M S dhoni won trophies. So indias record is not that great when it comes to winning trophy . Who ever runs BCCI , with crowd ,without crowd . Why didn't England needed that much year to win 1 cup in 50 overs, why didn't newzealand, South Africa still didn't win a single cup . R these teams also suffering crowd pressure or BCCI is running their cricket board also . Stop lecturing like Rajdeep,

At the heart of this problem is a lack of second major sport in India. With cricket being the ONLY sport that people in this country know, and can hope of winning at a big stage, obviously the pressure build up over 4 years is too much. There is no pressure valve to release the pressure in between those 4 years. Compare that with others like England and Australia. They are not entirely a one-sport nation. They are good multiple sports, so no one really keeps unrealistic expectations from them.

Very nicely put by Rajdeep. This video is for every blind Indian fan who supports Indian cricket team no matter what without thinking about what they do behind the scenes - like Pitch fixing and even the venues they played against Australia and England, and the venues they gave for other teams like Pak vs Afg, Pak vs NZ etc. Lets be fair, even the Divine wanted an Australian win cos ultimately the one who deserves wins it.

    • @nandiniiroy6773

What kind of pitch , Australia, England, newzealand South Africa gives to india when they went to play in those countries. So every board dictate playing conditions when it comes to playing tournament on other countries , Rajdeeps analogy lacks logic and not credible. India won 2011 world cup which happened in india under dhoni. Now should anyone ask Rajdeep that in Mumbai on that final no crowd present and no crowd pressure on that final. Then by that logic why india failed 2003 final which happened outside of india . If pitch is the concern then how India won t20 world cup under dhoni in South Africa, how India won champions trophy under dhoni in England. So blaming pitch, crowd ,cricket board is not a valid logic, india team lacks mental toughness ability when it comes to winning cup . It's mental problem. Dhoni was best when it comes to winning titles bcoz he had 5hat mental toughness which he spreads into the whole team , yuvraj, harbhajan, Raina, gambhir ,these r tough mentally that's why we won under them . Rajdeep is politicising and blaming board, bcoz he hates BJP and Jay Shah is running the board , this board has done enough for the cricketers. Rahul Dravid , Rohit Sharma was given so much power to select team . Still they lost . It's our cricketers fault that everytime they failed in knock out matches. This is untreatable that's indias record of winning titles r not that great.

Australia world cup winning strategic principle from Sun Tzu's "The Art of War." Sun Tzu advised that when you are fully prepared and using your strength or force, it can be advantageous to appear inactive or unprepared. This tactic is meant to deceive the opponent, making them overconfident or careless, leading to their strategic missteps. It's about masking your capabilities and intentions to gain the upper hand in a conflict. This principle is widely recognized for its psychological and strategic depth in various competitive contexts, including military, sports, and business.

We can say so many things after it happened, hindsight is 20/20. Australia were too good on the day, bat, ball and fielding. They would have easily chased down a 300-310 target that day. Their mentality and game preparation helped them win. Remember Cummins skipped a whole season of franchise cricket just to be fit and ready for the world cup. They aren't even resting now, straight up they started testing their squad for t20 WC next year. Mentally they are just way ahead.

Ruthlessness is a mindset and this team didn’t have that element. And think of it the kind of money that’s there in Indian cricket, why can’t they produce 11 ruthless players - diet, coaching, facilities, is there any dearth?

On the whole, our team looked to be rooted to the ground, and not flying in the clouds. But the hyper-nationalistic environment created around them was too strong to be ignored. And this hype up may have been done in a coordinated manner with a more sinister motive. Tickets were sold in the black market at exorbitant prices, and the authorities did nothing about it. There must have been influential beneficiaries behind the scene. Also, let's not forget that the controversy around pitches, the humorous nomenclature of the signature stadium, and the visa restrictions meted out to players and journalists of selected countries will come back to bite us in any future bid to host international sporting events.

    1) Self Created Pressure that India is winner even Before match
    2) Austrian has been a No 1/ No2 team. So best teams in ranking we’re playing. So any given day No 1 or No 2 either can defeat .
    3) Yes we Indians are Mad about Cricket unlike Australia who have Soccer, Rugby etc
    4) seeing all 11 players getting defeated, we all Indians took it personally as though we got defeated. Even Win would have given emotions of Happiness and Joy
    5) Batsmen played over defensive due to Reason No 1 with negligible boundary / sixes.
During Rohit sharma , Virat hit 3 balls 3 four and after Rohit out, same Virat did not scored boundary . Pitch cannot be blamed that it slowed . It was “ FEAR FULL MIND” which was playing among 3/4 batsmen .
Contrary Kapil Dev team we’re underdogs in 1983 and West Indies we’re No 1 but Kapil
    dev played FEARLESS CRICKET.
Better India would have tried for 300 and got out at 150 than put 240 and wait for Pitch to do wonders.

Slow two paced wicket on one end and exclusion of Aswin on other end. Just check last 20matches of Travis Head and how he got exposed to Right Arm off spinners.
Same was expected in Test Championship in Oval. We didn't studied. There also Head 156 did turned the match. When it comes to bigger championships there needs to have that big heart to move Strategically rather than playing to emotions.
Management played emotions with pitch. Team played emotions with same strategy.

I don't know why most Indians were sure of a victory. The law of averages does catch up .
But for some strange reason I knew Australia would win.
I've stopped watching cricket , a game I used to like after match fixing in the past.
Yes, I agree much with you. The toss was important and don't forget the Australians are not new to these big stages.
If you give them a chance , they will finish you.
The crowd was not sportive and a negative nationalism was displayed.
In a way, politicising sport is dangerous.
If the BJP takes credit for every victory in sport they need to take the blame for defeat too.
    Good lesson learnt I hope.
Sad that cricket in India has acquired political hues.
Hype over anything is never good.
I feel sad for the Indian team.
They played good cricket but the BCCI is not run by professionals, they are myopic and making money is their only motive.
BCCI for them is a cash cow and it will serve the purpose of the ruling establishment.
    Never politicise sport.
It is one discipline which brings peoples of all countries together.
Let us learn to respect other team players and give credit where it is due.
In my opinion India has been shown in poor light regarding crowd behaviour all over the world during this World Cup especially at the Narendra Modi Stadium!

Rather we should've suffocated them and asked them to hit over the top to score runs... But huge respect to Australia for the way they executed their game plans. Australia in World Cups are like Real Madrid in Champions League, no matter how badly they perform, when the crunch time arrives, they always turn up. No wonder they have 6 World Cups..

Ultimately I think India were a victim of their form through the group stages - they were outstanding but absolutely coasting and that cost them when they came up against the Aussies who had faced criticism and adversity. They played like a team with something to prove.
I can’t wait for the 2024/25 Indian tour of Australia. The Indian team have so much to prove by regaining some pride after the WC, and trying to make it a 3rd consecutive series win on Australian soil. It will be huge.

The analysis looks fact but the reality, whatever being said the pressure, home side, etc. Indian team has faced many times in the past so they are not new to this.. however I feel just few reasons could have made the difference:
      1) Virat was playing patiently and amazing way unfortunate he inverted the ball which made the difference otherwise I guess India might have got 300 runs, compounded suryakumar played miserably.
      2) The captaincy was not adequate to utilise the skill of the bowlers and conditions to get Travis head, it could have used many different way to not to allow upper hand since first 3 players were out superbly by Indian bowlers...
No 1 team in the tournament lost notwithstanding the issue of pitch etc...since the bowlers had the real ability to perform, so field set up trying new plots to outwit the auusie batters done the real loss...

Their behavior looks like bookies. Every team's opening batsmen are very important. I hope everybody agrees. Eight matches completely failed Temba Bavuma. why they gave chances again and again. If Reeza Henricks had played the last five matches he would have scored more runs against Australia. India would have faced South Africa in the final
