And doctoring it the wrong way - preparing a slow pitch when the world was saying that India appeared to have the best fast bowlers as well as the best batters against fast bowling. It is mental fragility PLUS stupid planning.
That insecurity comes from the BCCI. They need to back their players more and realise that man-for-man they are better than any team in the world in all 3 formats. In fact, India’s second XI could beat most full-strength teams.

India needs to stop thinking that they should have won and Australia winning their must have been something else other than Australia, it is starting to get very arrogant. India think they own cricket now and want to tell others what to do. Australia played as a team as in fielding and India played as individual players each trying to impress.
I am telling everyone who compares Australia dominance in '03 & '07. We are forgetting the fact that they were tested brutally in almost all games. They had fought thier way proving they are the best. India were not tested apart from the first game. Also remember Aus dominance was in away worldcups.
they were not tested but Australia and rest of the teams in those eras were not far apart so the matches seemed close enough. Australia although a dominant team in 1999 had a close competitor in SA and Pakistan. In 2003 difference much more in favor of Australia. This Indian team tbh had no close competitor. But you went with the worst pitch in a big ground with just two genuine hard hitters Rohit and Iyer.
@@nikhilkay1 2023 indian team looked like we had no close competition because of one man I felt. Shami. He just changed the way our team looked on the field. May be if not for his heroics with the ball. We would have been tested a bit more with close matches and tight games. They say" batsmen win you matches, bowlers win you tournaments ". Unfortunately , in the final we didn't give our bowlers much of a chance. But that's where big teams turn dominant. Remember the Aus game against Eng in 2003, the game against Pak when they were something less for 5 . I felt Aus were better prepared to win the match than India on that day. We were high on emotion and adrenaline.
@@publius1252 I mentioned Clearly the Worldcups 03' & 07. I always feel for ODI to sustain and bring in more nations , we need Away teams to win WC. Home advantage reduces the thrill and excitement of the sport.
@@arunnagasamy6277 Shami definitely deserves the man on the tournament, the way he was with the ball was something else. Bumrah provided that suffocation/pressure and Shami came and used it with brilliance. I think for big tournaments you need perfect balance in middle orders like Yuvraj and Raina then the top order stroke players could play their shots freely knowing there is someone like Yuvraj yet to come. Without a perfect middle order like Yuvraj who could bat fearlessly and bowl decently you cannot win tournaments. I think Yuvraj had neutralized Australia in so many tournaments. We have Pandya but little inconsistent and Jadeja who is more of a run adder than a run chaser or power hitter.
From my perspective. Even when Australia were 3 for 80 odd the body language from the Indian team was poor. They seemed shell shocked and at a loss for answers. It was like this is not supposed to happen. It's not in the script. I know Australia would still think they would win if in the same situation.
bingo! India kind of lost when they thought of doctoring the pitch in the final of the wc. This coming from the team that was favorites to win the cup is beyond me. Rohit and Rahul Dravid to blame for the pitch fiasco.
When you win 10 matches on the trot then you go into panic mode when you’re in a losing situation And that’s exactly what happened. It’s very easy for experts to give their gyaan before and after the match The media professed to the world that india cannot lose the final The Indian fans believed it was their birth right to win the 11th in a row And while basking in the glory of the 10/10 Australia studied a plan to win again which they know how to on a big stage. In 2011 if there was no Dhoni there would be no cup. PERIOD
From Pakistan, i feel india only has two gears one is over confidence and the other is under confidence scared and timid, have to find a balanced mentality and maintain that through out also player worshipping is making it hard for team to take strong decisions on selections and giving new blood a shot.
We think this Indian performance was as close to a legendary team performance as it could have been. Australia were better on the D day that makes them so so bloody good. India may still beat them in a 1:1 matchup but a WC final win is special.
In India, when a kid gets home from playing cricket his parents say: How many runs did you score? In Australia, when a kid gets home from playing cricket his parents say: Did your team win? That's the difference between Australian and Indian cricket.
1. The problem with Indian team is that we just belive that technical perfection in every aspect of the game gives us the result. But actually it doesn't give the results in every situation. Having a fearless, brave and bold temperament is key. Especially in the situations like finals. We failed to give a counter pressure from time to time while batting. I think that's where we are lacking the most. 2. Another issue is that our players are not as athletic as the Aussies on the field. Fielding is also an important aspect which can change the course of a game. 3. Hard hitters are very useful when there is no hope of finding gaps. We should also concentrate on nurturing middle order batters who can do hard hitting.
Ind genetics and physique is not suited for any sports.Better to opt out of sports.Western model is not everything for forecasting country’s development. While starting from beginning when equal physique individuals do not participate its better to opt out of it.Genetics compliments athletism.Going against nature leads to humiliation.

Love this podcast! As an Aussie I reckon one thing is missing in your analysis this Aussie team played for Australia, for their fans, but also for each other, their team mates. I think this teams ‘never say die’ attitude is as much about looking after each other. Listen to all their interviews they genuinely respect and like each other. Cummings and the coaching team have built a team of players that are mates that trust each other and refuse to give up, Because they have each other’s backs, Cheers fella, great podcast!
Thank you ! Even the Indian team has great camaraderie and respect amongst themselves, no denying that. Just that the Australians were smarter on the day that mattered to overcome a rampaging Indian side.
I don’t think that’s the issue for India at all, mate. I follow a lot of the players on social media and they seem to have a very close-knit group of players.
This would be the 20 th show where every talked about India losing, WELL 6 times world champion, this is because, like Aussie Rules Football , an Aussie game , it's in our blood to have a dip , gotta be in it if you want to win it .no offence to Rugger ,but honestly , it's brutal and a game of attrition, but by extension, we know a CHAMPION TEAM ,WILL beat a team of CHAMPIONS , no mentioned they systematic dismantled all when mattered ,, WE know we are better than the sum of our parts , this side is a Cricketing Gestalt , Anaconda of CRICKET, strangles the life out of the oppersition, And at the end of the day India only won one .more Game in the competition . Be Gracious
Just seeing that India had organised a childrens version series immediately after the world cup is all the clues needed. Pure Greed and lusting for cash. With Australia in the country whynot try to jag some extra cash from them whilst they are here. After 6 weeks of playing twice per week we expect them to care about some hit and giggle cricket with the only goal to make a few dollars ? Should be allowed to go home as a complete team. Not every nation has a completely separate 20 over team. We all know it was tacked onto the world cup as a disgraceful and obvious added cash grab by BCCI.
Same old story. Over rating of the Indian team. They churn over and over how "great" every player is, until they convince themselves they are a great team....being disappointed is inevitable. On the basis of group games India may have been a slight favorite but we all know thats a silly way to judge the strength of a team. The strength of a team only becomes obvious under pressure. The truth is Australia are simply a better cricket team. They also have the silverware to prove it....lots of it this year alone.
yeah, Australian team themselves are in disbelief they actually pulled this off. Everything had to go their way in the final and they did. This was the weakest Australian team in two decades but they have all the major trophy to show.

This is actually the only significant trophy Australia have won in Indian condition, actually the most significant. Even the most dominant Australian team couldn't win in India. "Became too self aware", that's a great way to sum it up.. We believe Rohit and Rahul had shaped the team really well, they were having fun. Just that they became self aware in the last game.
We lost we defeated SA and bundled them at 83..That made the team overconfident and also, the media and fans hyped them to cloud 9..On the other hand Australia was struggling in group stages which made us think that they had turned weak..That is a facade that Aussies always do..they struggle early and then peak around semi finals and finals..This loss will at least be a lesson to never underestimate aussies..
It’s worth remembering in most of the non Asian countries the cricket World Cup was the second biggest World Cup behind the rugby for most of the tournament Here in England rugby got far more coverage than cricket
India will win all the bilateral, trilateral, quadrilateral, hexagon, octagon, PayTM, cycle Pure Agarbathi, BYJU’s learning app, Reliance , Tata Series but not any real ICC tournaments
In Australia politic's never gets involved in our cricket never will. And around each ground there are cheaper tickets and then there are higher cost tickets and then there are members tickets so a lot of people can afford to go see a match and what about Karma if you go against the rules. This was the first time a used pitch was used for a Semi final and Final before this World Cup every other country who hosted a World Cup had a new pitch for the Semi and Final so I think Karma just came and bit the BCCI on the arse for changing the pitchs
In 2019, semifinal and final was played in used pitch. In 2015, semifinal in Australia was played in used pitch. In 2022T20WC, semifinal was played in used pitch. The loss is not because of pitch.
So, what you are all saying is the CWC23 Final was a Funeral for the Indian Cricket Team and you have all now shown up for The Wake. Get a grip what do you think you are, Irish who have made mourning a cultural celebration.
I am hoping Rishabh Pant recovers well and gets to the peak he achieved. Hopefully he becomes the captain and instills a fearless mindset along with a talented team. We need the same spirit which won us the test series in Australia. Difference was fearless cricket and nothing to lose mindset
Cricket is not that serious in Australia anymore, unfortunately. Other sports are more popular. But in the end it is just a sport, not a religion like India thinks. India needs to branch out to other sports.
India is a team of brilliant individuals, Australia is a brilliant team. Cricket is a team game. India were unbelievable throughout the tournament, largely unchallenged, should have won. Australia were more desperate and had more belief.
@dronejudge Australia's bowling and fielding was unbelievable. The sustained pressure restricted the mighty Indian batting line-up to just 240 runs and thus made the run chase that much more attainable.
@dronejudgeNope, Australian outsmarted and outplayed India. Australia analyzed the pitch using statistics to examine the results based on its past history and conditions. So they concluded that bowling first was the best tactic due to the dew making it easier to bat later. They also were very aggressive in the field, they also frequently rotated the bowling in order to stop India from gaining a rhythm. After they lost 3 wickets they then restricted India to just one 4 in 90 balls. This was a result of a team effort from the bowlers, the fielding and clever field placement by Cummins, the Aussies had done their homework. Australia quickly got runs on the board, and even after losing 3 wickets they stayed calm because they knew the dew would make it easier to bat which is why Travis Head was batted aggressive and Marcus played steady cricket to hold down the other end. India had the choice of pitches and they got exactly what they wanted but they didn’t do their own research of the conditions, it backfired on them, unlike Australia who had a plan and strategy from the beginning. So stop making excuses, India was outplayed in their own country that had the pitch they wanted, a huge home ground advantage with the crowd but they LOST. Australia are 6 time World Cup champions for a reason….
Just because Australia won, it doest mean they had the template team to win. Its just that they had nothing to lose. India had all the pressure on them since it was the last ODI WC for Rohit and Kohli. Where as not even the Aussie ex-cricketers gave Aussies a chance in the final. Also Aussies had huge weakness in spin department. Fast bowlers are aging and didnt do that well. We won due to the individual brilliance of Travis Head for whom India had no plans.
Exactly. Australia had a world cup final to lose. They played like they had a world cup to win. I love Odi cricket. You have to do so many things right to win. Prefer over T20. By the way to have hope is to be optimistic. Without hope leads to pessimism.

@@TheCommonFan91The media and many other folks' incessant complaining about the aussie celebration as being 'disrespectful' is not what one would call introspection about their timid and lackluster performance on the field, in a world cup finals, nonetheless. . In fact, it is just sour grapes now that their over-confidence has been embarassingly deflated/popped in front their fans full of hubris before they became muted. Obviously Australia and India are both very good teams, and just maybe the toss and the bravery to bowl first, and then the application of the Aussie bowling and fielding and then a freak like Travis Head to do what he did is the difference. India were fantasic in all other games!

When you win 10 matches on the trot then you go into panic mode when you’re in a losing situation
And that’s exactly what happened.
It’s very easy for experts to give their gyaan before and after the match
The media professed to the world that india cannot lose the final
The Indian fans believed it was their birth right to win the 11th in a row
And while basking in the glory of the 10/10
Australia studied a plan to win again which they know how to on a big stage.
Good valid points
I say this respectfully and I truly believe it; India are a team of legends, Australia is a legend team.
We think this Indian performance was as close to a legendary team performance as it could have been.
Australia were better on the D day that makes them so so bloody good. India may still beat them in a 1:1 matchup but a WC final win is special.
In India, when a kid gets home from playing cricket his parents say:
How many runs did you score?
In Australia, when a kid gets home from playing cricket his parents say:
Did your team win? That's the difference between Australian and Indian cricket.
As an Australian i gotta admit. We love spoiling party's, and i love that we hardly even care while it cuts you to the bone 😂
Winning a World Cup for India is a year long celebration, winning a World Cup for Australia is a Tuesday 😂
The Australian players seemed more planned against us. A wonderful campaign that ended in an anticlimax.
Ind genetics and physique is not suited for any sports.Better to opt out of sports.Western model is not everything for forecasting country’s development. While starting from beginning when equal physique individuals do not participate its better to opt out of it.Genetics compliments athletism.Going against nature leads to humiliation.

The World Cup cricket tournament is where 10 teams come to compete every 4 years for the cricket World Cup for a month and half to always watch Australia win.
Must say this looks pretty right now. Australian Cricket is a benchmark for all teams across sports.
Fielding is the difference... and some very good bowling.
I know it’s not exactly the same but Modi Cricket WC 2023 made me think of Hitler’s 1936 Berlin Olympics (vs Jesse Owens). Politics don’t belong in sport, especially in peace time.
Without cricket, movies or tea stalls, you don't see this much patriotism in this country.

@@nikhilkay1 No, they are not in disbelief. They expect to win everytime everywhere.
The only reason idia was favorite was home advantage. Noone cares about group stage games except fanboys.
The worst team in two decades as u say ?..those types of teams arnt completely and utterly dominant across multiple continents and win all the big trophies. They have total dominance of the game. I have seen far far worse Aust teams in recent times. 3-4 years ago an example.
@@thatsbollox no one thought India had a home advantage this time, coz Australia toured India right before the tournament began and most of the Australian players have pretty good knowledge about the ground and conditions coz of IPL. This is actually the only significant trophy Australia have won in Indian condition, actually the most significant. Even the most dominant Australian team couldn't win in India. Yes, the aussies have won series in India.
If you dont know anything...dont say stupid rubbish.
Indian became too self aware in final. They have to learn to have fun. Dhoni made almost mandatory for team to have fun together and kapil dev had great sense of humor
Australia won; India didn’t lose.
I went to the last Boxing Day game that Sachin played. A memory to cherish for a long time. Sadly Sachin was fielding so didn't see him bat...
Love it !
It’s worth remembering in most of the non Asian countries the cricket World Cup was the second biggest World Cup behind the rugby for most of the tournament
Here in England rugby got far more coverage than cricket
Indian cricket made me a bigger nihilist towards life than reading anything by Nietzche!
India will win all the bilateral, trilateral, quadrilateral, hexagon, octagon,
PayTM, cycle Pure Agarbathi, BYJU’s learning app, Reliance , Tata Series but
not any real ICC tournaments

I am hoping Rishabh Pant recovers well and gets to the peak he achieved. Hopefully he becomes the captain and instills a fearless mindset along with a talented team. We need the same spirit which won us the test series in Australia. Difference was fearless cricket and nothing to lose mindset
It was a fluke because Australian doesn't took that match seriously
Cricket is not that serious in Australia anymore, unfortunately. Other sports are more popular. But in the end it is just a sport, not a religion like India thinks. India needs to branch out to other sports.
@@Sothpawmando you think that cricket getting less popular will lead to downfall of Australia in cricket?
India is a team of champions and a team of champions will always be vulnerable to a champion team.
Interesting. No BS excuses like I've seen on other Indian podcasts.
Thank you ! More episodes coming up ! Do check out our older episodes on the World Cup.😊
Crap!!! Australia had a final to lose.
Exactly. Australia had a world cup final to lose. They played like they had a world cup to win. I love Odi cricket. You have to do so many things right to win. Prefer over T20. By the way to have hope is to be optimistic. Without hope leads to pessimism.
@@commonsensemustprevail nah!!. The question is what would have happened to Australian team had they lost? Nothing. There was 0 fan, media pressure on Aussies. As i said even Aussie press wasnt giving them a fair chance in final

Obviously Australia and India are both very good teams, and just maybe the toss and the bravery to bowl first, and then the application of the Aussie bowling and fielding and then a freak like Travis Head to do what he did is the difference. India were fantasic in all other games!
