The 208 GTi is the closest Peugeot has come to emulating the hot hatch panache of it’s much loved 205 GTi of the 1980s.
Equipped with a flurry of performance-based changes, as well as a punchy 1.6-litre turbo petrol, the 208 GTi is more aggressive than you may think, with a larger rear spoiler, unique grille and, depending which model you go for, a limited slip differential.
We take the flagship 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport for a spin to see whether it’s worthy of carrying the coveted ‘GTi’ badge.
Constantly updated, Car Keys provides first-hand video reviews, as well as all of the latest car news.
Our experienced journalists are passionate about the auto industry, and strive to provide you with all the information you could possibly need before you decide to purchase a new car.

I had one 2 months ago. I love it. Everyone is looking at it, getting attention every time I'm out on the streets. Its black with chrome covered mirrors. The best choice for a hot hatch for me. The interior is the best Ive ever seen. Thats what you see when you're inside, right? Panoramic rooftop is awesome on a sunny day.

Had one for a year, love every bit of it...fab.
Fiesta may be better (and I mean may) on the track but this is far classier on the inside and just feels so much more 'solid' in every way.

Had mine since March 2017 and can find no fault, all what the vid says is true. Looks good on the outside, interior even better and handling is superb especially around corners, recommend to anyone, of any age.

Finally? They may have been away for a decade but they have been making outstanding hot hatches for a long time now, the 205, 106, 306 gti's ...and now this.

The st is not a better track option to the 208 by ps i've owned a brand new fiesta st3 a standard 208 gti now a ps model all cars stock i even prefered the standard 208 let alone the ps model i loved all the cars loved the st but the 208 by ps is a total track weapon also great video.

Got one a month or so ago. Car is bloody amazing and can crap on most road cars. Sporty look, fast, excellent build and just amazing all round car. Much better than any Ford ST, mini S or Vw gti ive driven (of course the gold R is king though lol)

i am not young enough for such cars, but if i was up to 23 years old, it will be definitely my first choice. fiesta is a hardcore car, you cannot drive it always like a hooligan. polo gti is really boring grand ma s tuned car. mini is very snob. this has very high tech looking trendy interior, better hifi, very sexy seats, cool details, if your gf is inside she will be happy, always enough power and handling when you need(it doesnt have to be clio rs, you can chill out in the city, very comfortable suspension), very compact size for parking , but enough for a single young man... super car for a target customer.

I agree totally, I had one for a year and was easily the best hot hatch I've owned. Ford come nowhere close to the quality of the 208gti. It's quicker, engine sounds nicer, wheels are amazing on the standard gti and the interior along with the lit paneramic sunroof ... Amazing little car.

I have a 2016 GTi. Not Peugeot sport version. Don't like the black wheels. It's great all round. Quick when you want it. Comfortable when crusing. Sounds great and makes people look twice. Subtle enough but has a distinctive hidden rage. A few niggles with the brakes and suspension over my one year of ownership so far. And it's quite an oil thirsty engine. Never had people complain while riding in the back. And I rarely see these on the roads, counted maybe 3 over a year, against many many Fiesta ST. I had a 208 Roland Garros before, actually had more toys, IE the self park function. But I wouldn't swap back in a million years. The 208 GTi is so fun and people don't realise it's quite a monster.

Insanely pretty little car but since they styled it so nice why did they draw the exhaust to one side only? Not that the small engine needs two pipes but it would make it look prettier...

Good review but the sport model would eat a fiesta st on a track!
faster exclamation and mid grunt. much better brakes and and LSD. the sport has much better tyres as standard and is wider and lower than standard gti.
the ST is an awsome car but let's face it. if the pug sport had a VW or Ford badge people would hail it as the definitive handling gti for its class!
stick a stage 1 map and induction kit with a straight through exhaust and you'd have a serious piece of kit for the rd or the track!
I'm getting one in 4 weeks time after looking at everything in its class
    plus the mpg is superb!!

Most people that keep comparing the later models to the 205 haven't even driven one. Want a dinosaur car that was legendary? Great go buy one! Nowadays governments have laws on emissions, safety etc. Car manufaturers have to keep with the times, meaning cars are built differently to achieve set criteria and various goals. I'd take this 208 GTI over a pristine 205 anyday. Time for people to get with the times. Out with the old, in with the new!

I’m torn between one of these, and the bigger 308 GTi 270. I’m told the 208 is more focused and more fun. Appeals to me massively, but I prefer the larger size of the 308. But could afford the 208 by may...so...Internet, which one, and why? Any owners or people who have driven both? I drove the 308 and loved it.

I bought this car today, the speed dial viewing thing is bulls hit, I could clearly see the dials and the centre digital speedometer. you can move the steering wheel up down back and forth. i cantn believe how many idiot reviews say you cannot see the dials. it's a complete ,myth, trust me I nearly didn't buy it coz of these idiot reviewers.

Car is shit had one feels cheap inside interior wise boring and engine is the shitest ever had mine with in 20 mins the twin turbo decompressed the wrong way and took two months to get it back on the road says it all really never buy French car please top tip just don't do it trust me and the service you get from the company is even worse then the car I now have a amg c class once you get in a car like that you will see

    • @BludMuffin
      @BludMuffin 8 років тому +9

First of all, "the twin turbo decompressed the wrong way" literally means nothing. This car doesn't have a twin turbo engine, and "decompressed the wrong" - what the fuck do you mean by that? Secondly, two months is definitely not how long it would take to replace a turbo. And lastly, you bought a Peugeot 208 GTI when you could afford a C Class AMG, yeah? Perfect.
