  • DOLLAR STORE / RESTORATION HARDWARE inspired STONE BOWL
Hey everyone! Welcome to another DIY project this week! I've decided to set myself up on a challenge to transform a Dollar Store plastic bowl into an "inspired" Restoration Hardware stone bowl. Keyword here is "inspired" not a dupe! This was an easy and fun project where I share step by step instructions on what I did to create this look. Bear in mind, you can do this with any object. Make sure if you have a shiny object to use some sand paper first to give it some grit for the compound to stick to. I later realised I missed this important step but, nonetheless, it all held up very, very well and I think that was due to the spray paint and acrylic paints used so make sure you sand down your plastic objects first!
    MUSIC: Epidemic Sound (membership)
    Hoodie: YEEZY (sold out)
Lipstick: Lancome Absolue in the color Rubiez
Camera used: Canon 5D Mark IV
    Mic: Rode

Liz, I always enjoy your DIYs!! I am a fine artist and I’d like you to try a little tip I have for you . When I add Joint compound to my canvases for texture, I always add a product called matte medium or gloss medium ( Golden brand) to the joint compound to prevent cracking or to prevent the joint compound to shrink and fall off. Depending on how much compound just add a little to give it some “glue” . I never measure it, but if I had to guess I’d say 20-80% ( 20% being the matte medium). Good luck trying it. Plus, I’ll do it and let you know how mine turns out. But, if I do that for my canvas art, then I figured it would help bind the mixture for this platter!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Joan

Also if you prime the bowl before adding the texture, the compound sticks to the bowl better.

Love this, it’s so effective. Thanks so much from South Africa 💫sometimes a bit of sandpaper can give the shiny surface a bit of roughness for better adhesion

Darn it...I have plate chargers. They are sitting in my closet all clean and organized. And my work space is all clean and organized. DARN IT, you planted the seed and I won't rest until the chargers have been aged. (not telling how many I have). Just know no one in my family eats when I am in the middle of a project. PS. Send food please.

If your spackle has too much texture, you can use a find sandpaper to sand it down a little to a smoother texture.

I just came upon your channel a couple of days ago. I really enjoyed this video. I must confess, I tend to watch more videos than I actually do projects. After a long day they seem to help me unwind.
My daughter is a cosmetologist & I've got to tell you, you do a great job on your hair & makeup. Your a stunning woman. Do you have any makeup tutorials or skin regiments videos?
Thank you for the video. I actually have all of the materials. I may give it a go.
    G-d bless!

Thank you Debra, Shalom to you! 🙏🏼 so happy you're enjoying the channel! I actually was a professional makeup artist for over 15 years and went to hair school too. I did have some very early videos of skincare and such when I started my channel but unfortunately it wasn't what my audience wanted to see. They are really eager to see home design. So sadly no more skincare/makeup videos.
