    Newport was very nice 👍 headquarters for NOAA Research ships that moved there in 2011 from Seattle. The Yaquina lighthouse was made in Paris France in 1868 and shipped To Oregon, it was first lit in 1873 and being 93 ft tall is the highest lighthouse In Oregon. It’s a live lighthouse with a light characteristic of 2 seconds on 2 seconds off, 2 seconds on 14 seconds off. Great work and a pleasure seeing more history shared by you. Thanks and safe travels to you !!

    Russ , Russ, We enjoy your show we have been following since the beginning of Summer. We live in Central Oregon.(,Bend).While you are up north there is even Beef Jerky Factory as well as a Cheese factory In Tillamook , well worth the stop at both places. .While you are up north go to Astoria it is beautiful and the home of the Movie Goonies along with a the Museum, Then there is the Columbia River Maritime Museum. Well worth the time. Thank you for the videos.

    Have lived on the Oregon Coast for 15 years (getting ready to sell and go full time RV). Beautiful here. And if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes. Tip for traveling in Oregon: there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear. And the locals NEVER use umbrellas.

    Russ, that’s the Oregon coast, sunny, misty, rainy, and windy. The Willamette Valley has been warm, partly sunny, and sunny. I always carry rain gear when I ride my motorcycle on the coast. Was at Newport a week ago. Same weather, a little misty. You could of gone to Nye Beach which is west. Shops and food.

    Did you have time to see the lighthouse on the north end of town? Its called the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. its very spectacular looking. Its too bad you just drove through Newport. You did miss some other things. Tillimook is great, but Newport has more to offer.
    Funny thing, this video just popped up on my list. Yesterday as you were driving down on the Bay Front, as we call it, to see the boats and bridge I saw my car.
    I hope you or any of your viewers drop on by. I'll buy you a cup of chowder at the Chowder Bowl.

    I just wanted to share a couple tips for travelers: If searching for fast internet while traveling, try stopping by the town library & taking your laptop in & inquiring. I live in the Midwest of U.S.A., & often times the town libraries have fast internet & will let visitors/guests who don't even have a library card there use their Wifi. Also, if ever looking for a safe free spot to park in a pinch, use a hospital parking lot.

    • @WanderlustEstate
      @WanderlustEstate 5 років тому +1

      I agree with these tips, especually in the Midwest. Only issue with the hospitals for overnighting is they can be noisey some times.

    • @playhooky
      @playhooky 5 років тому

      @@WanderlustEstate Ah, yes - depends a lot on the size of the city & how busy they get. I live in a small "city" only around 30k!

    • @WanderlustEstate
      @WanderlustEstate 5 років тому +1

      @@playhooky I grew up in a town a little smaller than that, so totally get why you'd suggest such being from a town that size. Most of the noisey ones I've been to have been 100k or more.

    On the south side of that bridge there's a nice RV park with a big blacktop dry camping area, with a decent sized brewery that has tours and samples. Some really interesting beers. The problem with that area is that there are too many great places to stay.

    WAVE!!!!!

  • @stevejensen3471
    @stevejensen3471 2 роки тому

    The Oregon Coast is a very wet and blustery environment, often subject to gale force storms and winds, so structures take a beating. Alot of what you've seen on the bridges is mostly coating and corrosion maintenance as well as occassional repair.
