Hey Russ I have been through Astoria a few times and I think a must stop and see spot is the Astoria column, you go up into the column and climb lots and lots of stairs to the top and WOW!! 360 degree breath taking View of the Columbia River and that bridge you drove over to Washington. $5 well worth it. Drive safe!!
That was cool. I have a video of leaving Astoria and being stopped in that construction. It would be ironic if we passed each other back then. My favorite hoodie that I wear constantly is from the Astoria Column. Thanks for the video!
That bridge is astounding. And, tunnel at the end I enjoyed, as well. Nomadic Fanatic is in Washington right now and it’s gorgeous, too. Can’t wait to see what you film. ❤️
I saw that too a couple of weeks ago visiting in Astoria I also saw ships on the Columbia River that too was cool especially watching one fire up then turn around and go up the river ( MO s Chowder House good stuff
I have no idea how far you are going north, but I'm hoping you keep going, there's a lot of great traveling to come. You can take the Coho from Port Angelus to Vancouver Island.
When you head across the bridge over to Washington my dad and I went over it in the early seventies I think it was 70 one question mark 74 got a 65 Mustang High Pro Fastback built up a little bit he always used to stomp on it when we got to the flat side he floored it and the antenna radio antenna was bending backwards and we were doing about 90 it's four miles across but that last stretch is at least two miles where we stomped on it I've been all over that place I went up to the Astoria Column to the top I tried to see how fast I could get up to the top running I think it took a minute and 15 seconds? But that was 84? Anyway enjoy it
I always wave, Russ, but I have never commented on it. I figure that since you always wave again in the next video, you saw me wave in the last one! Haha! Anyway, awesome bridge. Thanks Russ!
Just drink n coffee looking at the map seen this long bridge joining Oregon and Washington and thought wonder if anyone has video taped crossing it ,and here it is !, thanks for the virtual hitchhike , nice !
That was so cool, sailed right under that bridge on a ship, too bad you didnt go around Astoria more, sure brought back memories from when I was there last. It's a cool little town, got to walk around and enjoyed the no sales tax, yay! But didn't og on the bridge, but feels like I have now thanks to the video haha!
Where to begin?,.... waving back of course - that's the polite thing to do! Of all your oregon coast vids, this hurt the most and makes me miss it up there greatly. As you pulled out of fort steven's, you could see the koa sign for a couple seconds on the right side of road. I think my wife read somewhere, that's the 2nd biggest one in the USA. We always stayed there every summer because we had young kids and even with the higher cost to camp, a really good place for kids which was nice. Like you said - a lot to do in the area and it's so clean and beautiful up there. That bridge is one of our favorites "of all time anywhere" and we too, got stuck three years ago right at the top. Probably didn't see you though, (lol), because there were giant black tarps covering sections of bridge up there and I don't remember much of a view till heading down. Plus, ...one has to keep their eyes and brains working when behind the wheel of an rv, (or anything) up there. Been over it many times - gosh, love that bridge. No toll. The good folks up there promised to end tolls after it was paid-off, ...unlike other places that promised too,...but will now continue raising tolls into perpetuity. Fibbers.. :- (. Side note; as you drove across r.r. tracks under the bridge getting that view, the folks in astoria run a cool vintage trolley along that waterfront on those tracks. Sorry to ramble - my mind is on the road and heading over the astoria bridge at this very moment,...hopefully one more time. Cheers.
Good afternoon Russ,, sitting here enjoying your video again, with my cuppa coffee.. That is until you got to that bridge.. OMGosh,, my stomach started doing flips!! Guess I won't be pulling my TT over that anytime soon, WOW... Thanks for sharing, Lo :)
I've driven from Venita Oregon over to Florence, up hwy 101 across the bridge to Washington . It's was all so beautiful. Watching your video makes me want to go out there again...🌲🌲🌲🌲
The Astoria-Megler Bridge is a steel cantilever through truss bridge in the northwest United States that spans the lower Columbia River, between Astoria, Oregon, and Point Ellice near Megler, Washington. Hello DIONE AND MIKE from MS FITZ'S ADVENTURES. We were Working up there for 2 seasons at the KOA across from Stevens State Park. We have two years videos of Astoria Check them out it is a wonderful town. We love the people and the place.. Love your Videos
I remember this bridge after leaving fort stevens then stopping at my gma astorias house. This bridge is epic. Fort stevens is way cooler tho. I loved that place 20ish years ago. I rode my bike in the beach and had the time of my life. I love fort stevens. Memories of public showers too. FORT STEVENS IS THE BEST!!!
When I drove over that Bridge, I was very scared. This is where the Columbia River meets with the Pacific Ocean and we were told the sea is extremely dangerous there for any Boats. So glad you showed this. I have wanted to go back there and then up the coastline of Washington.
That red building out into the water at the end of the pier on the left at about 5 minutes: About $500/night. But I tell you. You'll want a second night. You have a lanai pretty much Eggs Ackley where the mighty river meets the sea. Yes. Forty feet deep in the main channel where the Big Ships pass. And you see rollers on the surface right in the channel there. Right where the ships pass when the tide favors 'em. Epic.
Russ ? , Is there any way to slow down filming while driving, Say I live in small town USA and you drive by the house I grew up in . I know the neighbor hood all the buildings and can almost see the house as you drive by about 10 mph 50 ft to stop sign and I cannot see the house at all. I mean just to see the house. Would make a big difference.
I took a friend of mine across it up to long Beach and he swore up and down he could swim the length of it, even made bets, I would have took him up on it but then I'd be down a friend lol
Russ, would you be interested in showing us your program, camera, online procedures, and editing process so those of us that would like to do something along the lines of what you're doing, and getting some little side income can learn from it ... I'm retired now but lost most of my benefits in 08 & 09 and never was able to recover so finances are limited... Yet I think I could travel some if I set things up like you and people like Caroline!

Wow! Is right. That is one big beautiful bridge. 197 ft clearance, 24 million to build. Awesome. 😊👍👍

A bridge this chicken would never cross. My Washington cousin sent your video to me. Thanks for the ride

4.067 miles long , opened in 1966, is open to bicycles if you so dare haha it’s only 28 feet wide, looking good 👍

THANKS Uncle Roscoe !!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Russ ! Welcome to Washington.. Waving at You !! on the bridge.. Don't stick your head out too far... It may go home in another car !!
Russ, it's a good thing you don't have a mortal fear of bridges like I do. I could never do that, not even as a passenger.
Hey Russ. Don't know if you had a chance to see the maritime museum in Astoria but it is awesome.

Hey Russ,
Just Perfect,
V MAN
Hi Russ,
Enjoy your videos, thanks ! I wish you would have flown the drone when you parked parked alongside the Astoria Bridge on the Oregon side.
I stayed in the hotel under the bridge I thought it was cool 😎.. The bridge used to have a toll...Did you go see the Astoria Column?
Still waiving 🙋
Cape Dissapointment was named that because of all the bodies that used to wash up on the shore there.
Get your gold pan out there at the park. There is a lot of gold in the black sand there on the beach.
not true at all
Yea it is true I go there all the time to pull gold out of the sand. It is a popular place to go for gold in Washington.
BMXERDON01 No it wasn't. It was named by explorer John Meares, when he failed to find the Columbia River.

Russ if you want to go on a boat ride let me know. I'm at the rv. park by the Astoria bridge on the washington side. Almost met you in quartzite.
I hate going up this bridge. I have to close my eyes

I cross that bridge on a bicycle, 50 cent toll
Why is it so tall, cruise ships?
The bridge just doesn’t appear very sturdy at all. I know it is but......
