Premier Guitar’s Perry Bean met with Helmet’s Page Hamilton on his tour bus before the band’s show at Nashville’s famous Exit/In on August 12th, 2014. Hamilton walks us through his trio of ESP guitars, his simple amp setup, and his modest collection of stomps.
Hamilton has been associated with ESP guitars for decades. The love of the ESP Horizon Custom eventually morphed into his own signature model. The current trio of axes on the road are streamlined to a single volume knob, a lone DiMarzio Air Zone (Hamilton removes the neck pickup himself), and either a Wilkinson or Floyd Rose trem. The majority of Helmet’s set is split between a silver 2006 ESP signature model with a Wilkinson trem.
The other main workhorse is a pink 2009 ESP signature model that is relic’d to look like his original ’89 Horizon Custom.

No one knows how diverse a player he is. He was a jazz muso, played a tour with Bowie, invented tones with Helmet people have spent years ripping off, and his soloing was such a free and musical style over impossible time signatures.
i wish he would sing like he did in the softer songs from the 90s plus making jazz, he really is amazing. i just don't personally like the new helmet, it's not terrible but i honestly feel like he's capable of more amazing stuff.
@ Drew Letassse Page is great musician and very unique too.
Page kicks ass
As much as I like seeing all the gear, I really like these conversations. They are just a bit more organic to me.
Page Hamilton is an original (OG ) riff master. Page Hamilton rules period.
Got to catch Helmet on a Metal Alliance tour years back. Hilarious onstage banter and a VERY solid performance. If you guys/gals ever get the opportunity, definitely check them out live.
I evhhue I y u😅
The interviewer here is my favorite
Always seems stoked to be there
I think you accidentally misspelled "coked".
Nano B dude, fuckin ay.
@@ryan.1357 hahaha god damn right xD
6:23 - scuse me while i scratch my taint real quick
...watched like 20 of these before... hitting the search function... FINALLY finding my guitar hero, PAGE HAMILTON...!!!!
His speaking voice is so different than his singing voice
Was Local H at this show? If so talk to those guys as well. I love hearing about duo and how they fill in the missing tone
Such a cool guy and one of my favorite bands. Haven't seen Page since 96-97 in VaBch I believe. I love virtually every CD except Meantime which I avoid like the plague which is what everyone knows them by. Everything else is soo much better people!!! His music is such I can't turn up loud enough when I listen to Helmet! Note: You need a very good audio system to do this with impact!
Tá um "senhor" o Page Hamilton kkk! o tempo passa. Grande banda!
I've never heard of a tube buffer before, research time!
Helmet kicks ass!!! Great rig rundown!
More bass rig rundowns
This guy's awesome, wish we would of been able to see the rig on stage but that's OK, it just gave us some better face time.
Great stuff, both of these guys are cool
Would be interesting to hear what that third guitar was
great interview.....or Page talking about ..
Pretty good stuff
Is the CAE wah available ONLY as a custom order? I know the custom in the nam is in the name of the company, but is there a commercially available CAE Wah?
That menacing wiffleball bat tho
Seems like a nice guy.
Boy, I'd like to hear him talk about himself forever, really makes me want to see his band, seems like a nice fellow, I miss peter mengede, les paul jcm 800 no board.
Pete M now has a band called El Gordo in Brisbane Australia
dan goggs yeah, there's also a great interview interview with him about that honeyburst les paul he still has on guitarnerd.
They came to my country like two months ago and i didnt even know lmao:( didnt see a single ad or poster
I was so mad
That's not a rig rundown. That's 2 guys talking on a couch.
....giving a rundown of a guitar rig.....
It's 2 guys on a couch giving a really detailed rundown of his rig. Do you need to see them standing there, saying the exact same things, pointing at amps and pedals that you can go find pictures of online???
he's a trailblazer.... godfather of Hmmmmm new metal? yes?
What a name dropper.
seriously. though. "i was talking to neil young..."
*****
Good for you man. Keep it up.

I think youre intern trolling me and thats rally sad. Get off te comp and get a ril life.
crazy Page will be 60(!) soon...time is so fleeting....
page shows a lotta leg
yeah and its turning me on...
This whole sitting on the couch while occasionally showing a pedal thing has to end.
Please don't lynch me but I never heard of Page Hamilton until I listened to the Linkin Park song All For Nothing. I am guessing Helmet is his band? Any good songs?
mrsticky005 Type in (Helmet) on your search bar on UA-cam and listen to all of the music. I am a Black American Woman that loves hardcore Rock music and Metal music too. Helmet has been my favorite band of all times.Page Hamilton is the best riff master of all modern day times.Listen to all of the music that Helmet has and you won't be disappointed.
Ok...but I just wanted someone to name like one or two songs. Like I know how to search for stuff. But a recommendation would be nice.
mrsticky005 one song is called (Tic) and (I know). Just listen to all of the album's of Helmet period and you will see for yourself.Get back to me and tell me what you think about all of the music.
Some of my favorites are Bad Mood, Repetition, You Borrowed, Turned Out, Unsung, In the Meantime, I Know, Milquetoast, Tic, Rollo, and Street Crab. Those are from their first 3 albums.
Linkin Park are gay as shit.
Hamilton needs to get some sun on his legs. You can tell his ancestors are Scottish!
'Stevie'Fryette. Dimarzio. Bradshaw. MXR. He only uses stuff made and hand delivered by the owner/founder of the company.
"Totally"
love these rundowns, but please please let the cameraman learn how to use the camera. it looks like he/she is using a dslr with a fastish aperture and the soft focus on the interviewer's face is distracting.
Baseball bat behind the couch, just for the sake of it.
Dem gams! So pasty.
that would be sweet if his magenta signature was an m series body instead of say that archtop horizon
2:33 So Close.
1:29.. the interview had to stop himself from taking the guitar. Watch his early videos too, he touches all the musicians' stuff. He way too imposing for my taste.
pitty you missed the bass again
This interviewer bothers me a little. Can't put my finger on it tho....
Put your finger on you being easily botherable.
Cyan.
