Hello BOSS. Another great product as well, as the rest of the 500 series, especially the fantastic VE-500 which is the best vocoder ever in the market! ATTENTION: Please keep in mind that it's good to have a new drum machine (like the DR-880) with more features, example: (1) To add our own samples, (2) a bit larger pads (3) load a lot of hip-hop sounds, DR-202 sounds included and (4) the ability to convert it's sounds down to 8 & 12 bits. Thanks! NOTE: Make some videos using the 500 series with synths as well.

Always been a big fan of Boss and the majority of both my Acoustic and Electric pedal boards are Boss products and while the Loop Stations are great and recommended, I have been doing looping since the mid 90's (WAY before it was as prevalent as it is today) and for simplicity I still much favor my Boomerang :). I have videos of me playing live with it on my YT page if anyone is interested. Boss is great stuff though!

Does it react to MIDI System Real-Time Start/Stop messages, or do you have to build an external microcontroller box to translate the messages like for the RC-10R?

I love my RC-300. But I need an upgrade with better quality audio, and more I/O.
Right now, the logical upgrade for me is the Headrush Looper board, but there are a few aspects of it that still feel like a compromise to the 'ideal' loop station.
I want more than 2 channels (like 4-track loops, not stereo) with 3 or more loops.
Old live to have 4 ins and 4 outs, but not be restricted to stereo on the loops like the Headrush. I want to loop my instruments on 3 or more 4-track loops, not blend my instruments all together into a stereo signal.
Looking forward to a true upgrade/replacement for the RC-300 or RC-505, that knocks the Headrush Looperboard off the top of the hill!

do the beats on the rc500 automatically sync with the bpm of the track? .. as the rc3 did?

I have a preset save with mic input off. I still hear my vocals in my loop? Do I still have to turn mic input knob to zero? Isn’t turning input to off enough?
Come on, Boss, we are all waiting for a Real upgrade to the RC-505: metal case, 24/32 bit (instead of the current 16bit) recording, improved midi functions, metal connectors. The UI is the best and most unique of any loop station or ANY other loopers, so, please, Boss, this 500 is swell, but where is the Rc-505”X”?
Hi! I am very very new to looping technology and bought this hoping to add vocal harmonies to my solo gigs to begin with! But! I plug the system into my amp, and I plug my mic into the system, but do NOT hear anything. What am I missing?

Guys, work on your QC!!! I have all 500 series, GT-1000 and the RC-500. Since last March, I have returned two KATANA MK 2 heads because the internal speaker stopped working after a week. Also my current GT-1000 has sharp knobs, the screen looks like there is a paper glued under it, and the unit wiggles on a flat surface (Unlike the one I had in 2018), and now the RC-500 Has finish issues also the "T1 R/P/S" does not work properly, the same goes for the CTL 1,2 as there are inconsistencies while controlling the RC-500 from the GT-1000. The firmware is buggy. Just today I had an error while testing the unit for my live performance!!! It stopped after stomping on the STOP then gave me an error message. Started working again after rebooting. So please do not screw up what you're best known for! QUALITY. The audio processing is great integrating the GT-1000 into the RC-500 is sweet. Had to conect the unit to Behringer xAir (Headphone OUT would've been a smart addition to the RC-500) Thank you
Is the Midi Clock support as crap as in the RC 5? In my RC 5 it is unusable when you send external midi clock in the Looper. And timestretching results in heavy atrifacts when you change the tempo 1 BPM manually.

I have an RC-10R and want to buy RC-500 to loop voice only in sync with the RC-10R. Can someone tell me if using the midi inputs will sync both (the RC-10R with the RC-500)? I want to use the rhythm advantages of the 10R, but want to use the Voice input exclusively for the RC-500. I already have the Acoustic Singer VE-8, but it does not sync. I think that the Sync feature is a must-have, but I want to be pedalboard ready like the RC-=10R & RC-500. I don't want the RC-505 because it is designed mostly for working with hands, and I need the footswitch feature like the 10R and 500 offer. Can somebody help me with this midi question between RC-10R & RC-500? Are they compatible togheter?

You can, but I believe you dont have an easy way to apply diferent drum tracks for each track
On The PDL 3 FUNC, I wanted to know if there is a “stop all/clear all” function. I am seeing T1, T2 STOP(CLR as an option but does does that clear BOTH tracks when pressed and held down?
As far as I can tell there isn't one. Would be a nice software update.
@@dmastarew5217792 I hooked up a Boss FS-7 and hit both buttons together I assign the top to stop/clear track 1 and the bottom to stop/clear track 2 and when you use the assign feature you don’t have to hold them down to clear. Just a quick tap will work.
I feel dumb, I turn overdrive on and everything is distorted, drum beat and all. How do you layer with anything but clean tone?

Out of the 80 or so parameters, there is no write to memory. The only closest ones are switch to previous or next memory 😏

On ne sais pas si on est sur la track 1 ou la track 2...

I'm not sure, but from watching the video... it might have less than the RC-10R. Video said 57 phrases. Let me look... Yeah, 280 for the RC-10R and 57 for the RC-500. That's odd, but I guess the 10R is more "drum machine" than this one.
Does the RC-500 have two stereo loops or are there two mono loops/one stereo loop?

Anyone experiencing issues with trying to stop a loop? I hit stop but it doesn’t stop until seconds later and I have the settings on “Free Measure” so it’s not that it’s waiting until the end of the measure to stop it.
Hello. Here is a head scratcher.
I'm using a Morningstar MC6 Mkii to control the assign features of my RC-500 like this:
• ASSIGN1 Turn on drum PART1 ON/OFF
• ASSIGN2 Alternate between rhythm patterns FUNK3 & LATINBEAT3
• ASSIGN3 Tap Tempo
• ASSIGN4 All tracks and rhythm ON/OFF
• ASSIGN5 Clear all Tracks
• ASSIGN6 Rhythm(only) ON/OFF
So far everything is working except ASSIGN2. When I tap the button to change from one rhythm pattern to the other, the RC-500 stops & then the previously saved patterns are changed to "SimpleBeat1" & "Blank".
How can I get the RC-500 to recall the saved patterns?
I am a Roland/Boss fanboy.. I still have my GR-33, VG88 V2.0, RC-50, XV-5080, VP-9000, Vsynth/XT, and a VS-2480CD. No kidding. That stuff is BULLETPROOF. Love it! But .... the non-rackmountable aformentioned guitar-centric stuff is collecting dust...because
Knobs, displays, and buttons belong in a rack unit or on a desk where you can get at them.. the stomp/foot pedals go on the FLOOR. See? Using these things would be so much easier if they were OFF the floor. Does anyone else remember the Ibanez multieffects units from the 1980's - like the UE405, etc? They did it RIGHT. Pedals were on the floor.. knobs were in a rack-mountable/table top chassis. Same argument against the Roland VG-8/88/GR-33/GR-whatever. Come on Roland - it's 2020! If you released a rack/foot unit for either of those two things.. I might actually buy them. Or better yet.. do a rackable RC-50.. I'd buy that for sure!

Hello, I have a boss rc10R loopstation, there is a build in drummachine that syncs to the audio loop but the problem is that at the end of every round the drums plays a ending cymbal and this cymbal repeats every round.., it becomes very anoying after a while and ruins the music, the pedal gives no option to switch the cymbal of... on the NEW RC5 loopstation there is a function to mute certatin drum sounds and that is nice but COULD you make a software update for the RC10R that also inlcudes the option to mute drum sounds? that would be very nice and a lot of people would really apreciate that, I have 2 x RC10R loopstation pedals that i never use cause of the anoying crash cymbal... PLEASE HELP ME!!! make a a software fix for that... thank you and all the best for 2021 carlos vamos

I like the Boss RC500 it's a really cool bit of kit I'm a bit bummed at the lack of different rhythm types in the drum section. It's very Latin heavy, There's no reggae one drop or ska,( I like latin but Bob Marley is more popular than Buena vista social club) no Drum and bass, and no Country (really). I bought this pedal on a whim and wish i'd played through the rhythms before I pulled the trigger. Editable drums would be so so brilliant. I really hope there are are more patterns on a firmware update...I no basically every other bit of customisation is in this box and it has some great things about it. For me, I would have traded about half that stuff for some more and/or editable drum patterns. ATM it's sitting at 3 stars and would jump right upto 5 if you could update the drums!

pretty sure you can import the rythems you want using the boss software and usb cable - store and use (WAV) . the built in rythms are midi I think so probs can use an external sequencer to play any drum pattern with the voices /kits built in. Ive not tried it !
Can this pedal pitch down 1 octave half speed? You know, like dl4 and many older loopers?
no it doesn't. And if you use reverse you cannot overdub. It has a one shot function though with retrigger.
Anyone know if you can store three or 4 minute loops in the memory so you can create backing tracks?

I have the pedal and so far like it. The only thing is the swing rhythms do not really sound swing to me. But I am not qualified to judge. It doesn’t sound jazzy swing even with the jazz kit selected. Can somebody confirm.
I hope the rc-500 is more "microfone user" friendly. I assume that the largest part of the market is made by instrumentalists directly connected by cable, but the microfone poses different challenges.

Drum beat on
Stop is stop and hold stop it clears as it should
Record is record and hold record removes previous phrase as it should
Now sometimes when I press record after playing a phrase it stays red on screen and the button led starts flashing instead of going green and to playback my loop

hmmmm...looks like my old RC-30 might be getting an early retirement.
I want a looper that is two rc-1s put together and synced in time. Because the external undo/redo and stop functions you can get with the footswitch are simply the best functions for live looping and improv on the fly. A stereo looper with two tracks that are time synced, that can have individual loop lengths, that each have their own dedicated undo/redo/stop functions, and can start/stop individually or together; that would be the perfect looper.
Until then I'll just keep using my rc-1.

My RC10R does all of that using a MIDI controller. I use the GT-1000....perfect match.

@@bensunn1350 I use one switch to change tracks and and then I have switches for loop record, stop and undo/redo. If you are in Sync mode and you hit stop both tracks and drums will stop. Otherwise you have to switch tracks to stop both. I also have switches to change the rhythm track. Others, Mute loops and mute rhythm. Also one for Stop all. The MIDI commands are not complete on the RC10r and I thought for sure they would have them all on there by now. Some of the commands can only be done by foot switch and I think it is a ploy to make people buy boss FS7's. However if you can get your hands on a GT-1000 and use it for it's MIDI control and guitar sounds....look out world! I am loving mine, but I just purchased a Infinity to add to the mix so I can do a few more MIDI synced looper. tricks

This is basically the RC-30 with better drums and the reverse effect from the RC-20XL. Just like the RC-30, the RC-500 only has 99 slots to save loops. Boss, wake up, it's 2023. I need 999 slots if I will upgrade to this thing from my trusty 30.

Hey Boss I’ve been waiting for a rc-505 here in Canada. Not a single retail store has received one in the entirety of 2020. Its 2021 now and still nothing. Tried buying from the USA but every store I dealt with have been ordered by you guys NOT to ship to Canada seriously what in the actual fuck is up!?
Mine is a shit.totally instable. Error message of ‘busy unit’ but i have only one short track in memory. It doesn’t always recognize external footswitch, only sometimes. It doesn’t keep tracks in memory (yes, i do the correct steps). Sometimes when i record second track it records again the first also in the second!!! Totally disappointed

Not really a fan of the whole idea. It's like a pumped up Rc300 but stripped of the 3rd and 4th (if you know this trick).

i would like to clearify that you DONT have to buy bosses own midi cable, despite they claiming so. Any cheaper type a midi to trs will work. Also you DONT have to buy bosses power supple, ANY 9v, 500ma will do. You already paid 300 dollars for this, you dont have to give them more money forfree to use it. BOSS fire your business advisor for trying to trick your loyal customers.
