Synyster is the perfect mix of technical and emotional. Many guitarists nowadays are pure technical but lacks soul and heart. Some other are soulful but are not known for being technical. But Syn man, he has the best from both worlds, no doubt about it, he is one of the best guitarist of the modern era
He also has an understanding of theory and what scales to play when and plays some very unusual scales/arpeggios over the chord progressions. He also incorporates some of his gypsy jazz background into these metal songs.
This might be controversial but for me [ i'm a drummer btw. ] this song has the best drum production possibly of the last 20 years. The kick is so smooth and has so much power. I LOVE IT. And the patterns that Brooks is doing here are crazy good.
It's so great you show the passion and emotions. About a year ago I was able to tell Matt, from the heart, in their discord group chat that this album is a masterpiece comparable to Master of puppets and that Exist is like a modern Orion. Many supported and gave likes and Matt was very humble about it. They are the best, A7X is like big family and I'am so grateful to be alive and wittness such an amazing album and be a part of the A7X family.
My dad and I went to tinley park, saw them live and while in the vip tent, met this dude, said he worked for the band I think as security. He said the exact same thing, they love their fans, they consider their fans as a part of the avenged family
Pure masterpiece of a song, bar none, would love to see breakdowns of basically every song honestly, particularly A Little Piece Of Heaven, Afterlife, Acid Rain, Simulation and Higher.
This song will be forever relevant until we change. Avenged Sevenfold is so good at capturing major thematic events and breaking them down poignantly into a masterpiece we can all understand.
This album has my favorite production ever. It's my favorite A7x album and I'll never grow tired of it. Everything sounds amazing. The guitars, the drum kit, vocals...
My top 3 songs are buried alive, the stage and a little piece of heaven. This song is amazing, I’ll never get tired of listening to it. I’m really enjoying these videos. As someone who doesn’t know that much about music it is really interesting seeing someone you knows what there talking about brake down the songs and explain all the little details that I miss. Awesome work.
I love how much you feel the emotion in these songs, and I feel like no one else is separating the tracks to isolate them individually. I struggle with dealing with/expressing emotions sometimes, but music always helps, it never fails to reach that deeper part of my brain. Thank you and keep up the good work 🖤🤘
My god I fucking love A7X and their story telling in their songs and the emotion able to he shown and the complexity of the riffs and work they put into this shit man it fucking awesome
Thanks for pounding the table about this band - I listened and watched before this livestream. I'm starting to get it. I was most taken with the drumming. The band is def a head and shoulder above others in the same space, IMO. The video was itself a masterpiece - a lot of work went into it. Now, I am not comparing the music, just a connection between MV's-I was reminded by the video of Genesis' "Land of Confusion" - "The Stage" reflects a darker vision for arguably darker times. This song is darker and better, too, IMO.
It's very nice to see someone who gets emotional for this song as I do. Beceause I have seen many reactions to this song and it felt like many people don't understand the message.
I have always loved avenged sevenfold, but holy crap. Since the build up to the release of Life is but a dream..., I feel like I have only been listening to them. Not just LIBAD but like every album. It's insane how much I love and respect what these guys have done over the years. So damn talented. Every single one of them.
Man I was at their concert a few days ago and this song sounds AMAZING live !!!! I can’t even describe what I felt, and it wasn’t one of my favorites before.
You need to do some more from this album bro! "Higher" would be a great one to break down & "Fermi Paradox" is some of the best guitar work they have done. Keep it up bro!
You incorporating reactions to isolated tracks made this so much better, if not : top tier (insert italian good gesture) , someone who can hear the elements and let the viewers here too gained you a Sub bro and this song is so good
Summed it up right there - masterpiece. How this song isnt more well known and liked ill never know. Makes me tear up every single time I watch the video. This and Nobody are my favourites by them by far and I've been a fan for 20 years. I suppose because I love songs about existential subjects.
This album is definitely one of their greatest if not their greatest achievement. This is one of the greatest metal songs in the history of this world I would say..
Bro, the breakdown of this song and going into the clean chorusy sounding guitar solo to the climax back into the riffs gets me everytime. I remember listening to it for the first time and when the breakdown started it captured my attention. At the beginning when its just the guitars it sounds peaceful and full of hope. Like the suffering is behind and there is something better to look forward to. and then when the drum fill snaps you back like you mentioned, the solo seems to convey what I would interpret as grief. The solo seems to merge emotions that I feel to be happiness and with loss. The scale he solos at that portion up until the build up arps is very minor/bluesy sounding. It's like a juxtaposition between sadness and joy. Very much the same way I feel in grief or suffering a loss. The whole song is a masterpiece but the solo literally connected with my personal emotional life experience with zero words. wild.
Today we were shelled. Alan, you are watching the war in the guise of dolls, listening to music, and your eyes are full of tears. Tears are not weakness. This is a sign of the presence of a soul. I live from one fight to the next. Be healthy, dear! I love you!
If you look at the puppet stage, the camera angle is important too. It cuts off enough letters on the sides to read "ETEWABD" for Even The Elite(Elect?) Will All Be Deceived" pretty telling to how the ending goes and something straight from The Bible 😮
I’ve been following your A7X reviews since the first one you uploaded and I just love them. Your technical breakdowns are very digestible and your passion is highly contagious. This is also in my top 3 favorite A7X songs!
Hey Alan! Been Enjoying all of your A7X videos, something I would recommend you to check out on your free time is Avenged’s Breakdown series on their UA-cam Channel from a few years ago, they’ve done several songs from they’re discography, the stage being one of them. And they breakdown the stems and discuss the what, how, and why they did things on records. In the stage video Matt brings up about how brooks originally played the opening drum part a little differently than on the record and how the kick drum rhythm wasn’t this continuous thing like it is on the record. Sorry for the long post I figured you would be interested in that! (Edit: Spelling)
I love that you show how the songs touch you. Certain A7X songs just do that. Certain chord progressions or solo melodies hit that emotional rawness. And I agree with you on Matt's vocals during that breakdown bridge section. Combo of the lyrics and melancholy way he delivers it and then reaches for it in his gravely screams to wake up. You should check out the live version of this song they did on top of the Columbia Records building. One take and Matt just nailed it. The whole band did.
I wish I liked this album more. Their self titled album and Nightmare with some City of Evil just hit the closest to my exact music taste so kind of fell out of love with them after that.
Its nice to know that im not the only one who got choked up from this song. Especially the part about governmental corruption and tyranny about the nuclear war. Heartfelt reaction. God bless.
Every time I make someone I know listen this song coz it’s godly amazing, I try to hold back on tearing up coz no other song can be as friggin amazing of a masterpiece as this. Hail A7X.

"When did the walking apes decide that nuclear war was the only solution for them keeping the score?"
This line always gets me 😢
Love your reactions!!
“Just wake up”
And the first part says "wont you wake up?" In the second says "cant you wake up?" Ufff
Beatiful song
Synyster is the perfect mix of technical and emotional.
Many guitarists nowadays are pure technical but lacks soul and heart.

But Syn man, he has the best from both worlds, no doubt about it, he is one of the best guitarist of the modern era
I agree so much with this
This was very well said
100%. The main two that come to mind that have the best of both are Syn and Tremonti.
He also has an understanding of theory and what scales to play when and plays some very unusual scales/arpeggios over the chord progressions. He also incorporates some of his gypsy jazz background into these metal songs.
@@Jess-ks4vtI can hear some Flamencon influences in his acoustic parts as well, like the outro of this song and Sidewinder
This is, in my opinion, their greatest achievement. They are the most talented band out there
I completely agree!
I don't know about the most talented, but they absolutely are extremely talented.
Extremely talanted indeed, but the top 1 for me still goes to Between The Buried and Me. Just as A7x, there's quite no band that sounds like them
@@CarnerioTostadotbf completely different genres considering btbam is literally raggae then metal then jazz in singular songs lol
@@williamslusher-yk2xm they're progressive metal, which is what A7X is journeying into
The stage is by far my favorite song of all time by any band. I've heard it a hundred times and still get just as hyped every single time I hear it
Same here, discovered it about a year ago and it quickly became my favorite song of all time, still is
I dont think I've heard this song before. It's beautiful and powerful. It's going on my playlist.
Hell yea! Great to hear
The music they create. They just have a way to hit the feels of the listener. That transition from what I assume is WW1 to WW2 always gets me.
I am happy to see I am not the only one who cries with that part

i agree, every metal song since hail to the king sounds like those big/large sounding drums that are just boring and dull
You gotta agree that Messhugah - Bleed is better
@@crnibass1994no, the kick is lost and drowned out at times.

To me they are to modern metal what Hideo Kojima is to games.
Johnny’s bass has such a good chunk chug to it, whether he’s using pick or fingers he’s hella underrated in my
opinion
This album has my favorite production ever. It's my favorite A7x album and I'll never grow tired of it.

Bro I literally get so lost in your reactions. Your musical knowledge is top notch and your energy is contagious.
The best song ever written..
i won't see you tonight part 1 & 2
The amount of emotion in that plea to just wake up -- man i thought i was the only one who was moved by that every time.
Just saw them live Friday night in Austin. Awesome show.
That drum fill during the guitar solo is perfection. This whole song is, but that fill is soo satisfying.
Bro, this should be above all these pop songs we hear on the radio and other media. It is simply a Masterpiece!!!
A little peace of heaven, please
Fininally someone is conveying my thoughts on The Stage

Easily the best drumming of any song in a very very very long time! Avenged really nailed it getting Brook full time!
It's very nice to see someone who gets emotional for this song as I do. Beceause I have seen many reactions to this song and it felt like many people don't understand the message.
