14:00 there is a good reason they dont have many solos like this. The solo for this song is easily one of the hardest solos they have ever done. I remember trying to play this solo years ago and looking at it like "what the actual fuck even is this?"
This is how reacts should be. Digging into parts, providing commentary, not just bobbing your head through the whole thing and saying “cool” at the end
The lyrics at the end really pull at you, the way Matt works his voice evokes this feeling like the character in the song is crying and showing extreme weakness, begging for forgiveness. I've never heard a song where the singer is *trying* to evoke that kind of emotion in their voice like that and making it work so well. This song creates this story of a soldier in such a short time yet it feels like this is a real person speaking to us about a life of violence and war and struggle and feels like we're right there next to them experiencing all this pain along with them
The solo on MIA solidified my love of this type of music, and heavily influenced my decision to pursue guitar. It’s a core, foundational part of me. So good!
I am now realizing because of this video that the rhythm guitar riffs during the solos are VERY close the main guitar riff of Dancing Dead which comes off Diamonds in the Rough.
This and Strength Of The World is just my favorite song of all time from this album. Is just so grandeur, epic, and the lyrics is pure storytelling almost like a mini movie. Maybe check that one too you might like it.
Alan, I love how the music affects you. It does the same to me, nice to see I am not alone. Some people don't seem to have the same emotional connection to music.
Finally, someone who gets it. I’m glad I found your channel. We’re generationally probably 3 decades apart, (i’m 62, I’m guessing you’re in your late 20’s early 30’s) but I feel the exact same way as you when I listen to AX7. The music is next level. From the first time I heard them - probably 15~20 years ago, I knew there was something special about this band. They’re like our modern day Beatles.
Strength of the world is one of my favorites if not my favorite as far as their straight metal songs go. Only other song that really tops it in my opinion is not ready to die and that is in part because I like avenged sevenfold and I like Kevin Sherwood so having something written by both is a dream come true.
All I can say is without this band I don't know how I would have gotten through the roughest times... I feel incredibly fortunate to have seen them live twice when the Rev was still with us. Once at warped tour in like 2005 and then a few years later at the Roseland in Oregon. Something about this band has always resonated with me alot. When I lost a loved one in college they helped me get through it... this would have been around the Self Titled album and songs like Almost Easy, Afterlife, Gunslinger & Lost were some of my favorites from that record. Then when Nightmare came out my mother had passed away shortly after it had came out and it was like speaking directly to my soul and experiences of losing people and the raw emotion of it and the imagery they painted was incredible... Buried Alive, So Far Away, God Hates Us, Victim, Tonight The World Dies & Save Me are you kidding I mean come on how can those not speak to people? Among some others I would love to see you comment on would be from Hail To The Kind - Crimson Day, Coming Home, Acid Rain. The Stage - Creating God, Angels & Higher. I am planning to see them in October at the Chula Vista amphitheater sounded and looks like a way better venue than the Kia Forum lol
I have always loved eternal rest, the chaotic intro solo (the first 2 unison bends have always reminded me halloween for some reason), then they transition into that super heavy 0-1-3-6 riff that has that classic metal southern twang, then the outro which makes me feel like Batman walking into his gothic castle
i have seen so many musicians react to avenged sevenfold but the passion and love you show for music they make is so nice to see, you are by far the best reactor to ever listen to avenged sevenfold, can't wait for reaction to: The Wicked End
Just found your channel recently and I've been loving these A7X reactions! A song I'd recommend from them is Victim. It's a really interesting song yet extremely beautiful. Keep up the great reactions!
also worth noting that matt chooses to make a yawning sound to symbolize the very common feeling a soldier gets returning from war where they feel immensely tired at all times, too tired to work, too tired to go back to regular every day civilian living. Their brain has been rewired differently and they feel exhausted trying to feel and think like a normal human once again.
The end of this song is my favourite ending to any song ever. They give you an insane galloping shredfest that hardly gives you any time to process what's happening, perfectly encapsulating the complete chaos of the fight the soldier's going through. And then they bring back the slow, melodic intro guitar transporting you back to the soldier's somber return to a country of unacknowledgement and ingratitude for what he's done for it, and you can easily feel the struggle in his voice trying to come to terms with the things he's had to do, crying out and begging for forgiveness.
Randomly found this video in my recommended and very glad I watched it. Very different reaction to most I've seen. Love these technical style breakdowns. Good stuff!
This is my favorite song from the CoE album. And I hope you react to my other favorites too: StST - Warmness on the Soul WtF - I won't see you tonight Part 1 Self-titled - Lost Nightmare - Buried Alive HttK - Acid Rain (You've already reacted to Cosmic, my favorite from LibaD) Your reactions are one of a kind. Keep being so great
The criss crossing cleans and the distorted leads harmonizing in the empty spots of "the X" and THEN going full Maiden? Nice. Never gave this track too much attention in the past. Your channel has been reintroducing all of these to me. Appreciate it, my dude.
You really won’t hear the amount of effort they put into their music compared to other musicians. Another sad reason why they are hated, because they don’t follow the rules.. 🤯
Your reaction towards the end, when you closed your eyes and just felt the song....that right there is why City of Evil is their best/my favorite album. So much feeling, and every song is damn near a masterpiece. So unique, with so much personality. Fuck yeah, man. I'm loving watching your reactions to these COE songs. You take music so seriously, breaking down each part as you hear it... I'm not even a musician, but that's the same thing I do, and it's why I love metal so much.🎶🙏🏼🔥😍
Lol I went straight to the end to see ur reaction of the touching vocals followed by that SWEET acoustic guitar. So glad u isolated those vocals . You’re the best bro
Dude I just wanna say thank you so much for listening this son. It is truly my favorite song by them and I’m so happy you felt the same emotions I felt
M.I.A:Missing In Action(A soldier or other member of the armed forces who is missing in action cannot be found after a battle or other military action, so it is not possible to say if they are dead or alive), A fervent Song!👌
The fact these guys were like 21/22 years old when they wrote songs like Bat Country, sidewinder, and Beast in the Harlot is crazy. City of Evil is an amazing rock album and it was written by basically children.
best yt reactions of my favorite songs. I feel you are the only one who can exactly explain what you like about the songs and some passages and you are even able to show it!
Love the energy man! As someone who studied music production it's nice to see that you're pulling out all the same things I hear from an album/song i've recently re-discovered from before I studied!
I really enjoyed your breakdown dude. I've heard this song countless times. Absolutely one of my favorites. Never have I seen someone break it down like you though. Greatly appreciated. Great work.
I'm still loving these videos! It's so refreshing to see a reaction video that feels so authentic unlike the forced reactions you see from a LOT of other people on UA-cam. I really appreciate you being you in these videos, makes me feel like I'm reliving the moments I first listened to these amazing songs :) I would looove to see you react to "Not Ready To Die" if you haven't heard it already. It's a song they made for COD Black ops back in 2011 and it's probably their most badass song ever!!! 🤘
ive been listening to this song since i was was like 14 and to this day its still gotta be my absolute favorite song to this day and im 21 now god it just brings so much emotion out of me and usually im more of a reserved man excellent work AX7 bless you all
Love seeing your avenged sevenfold reactions man, especially when you revisit some of their older stuff, it just reminds me of why I love their music so much and gives me a whole new perspective on a song I may not have given much of a chance in the beginning; I wonder how you would feel reacting to some TOOL, for some reason I like to pair them up when I shuffle music while driving.

Best thing I could see opening youtube today
word
Spot on
Exactly buddy
Seriously, best comment I’ve seen
14:00 there is a good reason they dont have many solos like this. The solo for this song is easily one of the hardest solos they have ever done. I remember trying to play this solo years ago and looking at it like "what the actual fuck even is this?"
I tried to learn the solo a few years back but I straight up just looked at the tabs for it and verbally said "yeah nevermind fuck this"
This is how reacts should be. Digging into parts, providing commentary, not just bobbing your head through the whole thing and saying “cool” at the end
Crazy they were only in their early/mid twenties when they wrote and recorded this record. So much depth and emotion.
Insane
@Dicodec would love to see blinded in chains next, I think you'll enjoy it a lot. Keep up the awesome work!
@@YaBoiJelithe ending of Blinded in chains is INSANE! absolutely love it!

YES!
Always looked for anyone else saying this. That ending is the culmination
riteee!!!
Man, you nailed it. I noticed it from the very first time I listened. And I'm talking about when the album premiered.
14 years of enjoying this song, your reaction and analysis made my day
This song and strength of the world are easily my 2 favorite songs from city of evil.
same here
Buried Alive is A MUST. A great and beautiful song with several different sections.
Danger line, please! It keeps the military theme going and the solo is the most beautiful thing you'll ever hear in that context.
I second this
𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 😁
I fourth this😂😅
It's been 5 months, I shall claim 5th on this motion to requisition danger line.

Man I love your reactions, keep it up! You should do a reaction of "I Won't See You Tonight, Part 1" by them, you'll cry.
I agree that’s a great song. He said he grew up with Waking the Fallen so it’s highly likely he’s heard it already but could certainly break it down
He could do. Tonight the world dies. From nightmare fucks me up every time.
He said he loves WTF and grew up on that album so he’s probably already very familiar with it.
Yeah anyone who grew up with waking the fallen had that album on repeat lol
What an incredible song and album. The lyrics, composition and creativity make this album timeless
never seen anyone doing these reactions sooooo fuckin good! so much feel and emotion... subscribed!
The ammount of "roller coster" momments in this song is incredible. One of my fav song from them besides Gunslinger, you should break it down too!
You did an amazing job explaining how the end feels every time I listen to this song. Chills.
I am now realizing because of this video that the rhythm guitar riffs during the solos are VERY close the main guitar riff of Dancing Dead which comes off Diamonds in the Rough.

It's a beautiful song.
It's also oddly upbeat while being extremely dark at the same time. To me that is what makes both of these songs so special and fun to listen to.
Alan, I love how the music affects you. It does the same to me, nice to see I am not alone. Some people don't seem to have the same emotional connection to music.
that's the ONLY solo that I've ever seen Syn pull out faces when playing!!! that's when you know it's tough AF!!!
The intro and outro in this song is one of the most beautiful things they ever did
absolutely incredible song and album
I love the live version of this song. With the backing vocals from The Rev
Well my day just got 100× better. Thanks for that!

By far my favourite a7x song, and favourite guitar solo of all time. Those jazz licks are difficult.
Libad is only a surprise for those who didn't listen to the old albums, they already showed the path they would follow
It sounds like a Pantera song
I agree with shadows improving. I love life is but a dream. He's at the top. Just pure gold.
Now that I've seen some of the work putted into this song, it makes it 10 times better
I'm a simple man. I see Dicodec upload Avenged Sevenfold, I hit like
11:41 never could unhear the highway star solo here
Eargasms on that solo AND THE OH OH OH PART 😈🤪🤩🤩🤩🤩
for me one of the best atx song ever..
