What is your favorite song off the album so far?
Check out my reaction to "We Love You" right here! ua-cam.com/video/3uenSegHxG8/v-deo.html
(O)rdinary, idk such a vibe and dark lyrics at the same time
My favorite, hmm. I'm kind of torn between this one, "Cosmic," or "Beautiful Morning."
"We love you" is really cool too. It's a fun journey to listen to this album. Knowing how Avenged is, though, I need more time, like years, to know which one is going to be my favorite. To my mind, they are the best band ever.
Mattel is catchy asf . But G is deep, technical, and fun!
Love your take on this. What program are you using to isolate the tracks?
whered you get the individual tracks from?
My new favorite way to kill time is watching other people react to Cosmic. I wish I could go back and listen to it for the first time so now I live vicariously through people like you.
Well thank you! Love having you here
This was hands down the best reaction/breakdown
@@theereverend2957 damn thank you so much!
Like others, it kinda made me tear up the first time I heard it towards the end.
Same, hence why I’m here 😂
This album is a masterpiece
❤
Song yes, album hell no
@@Archangel3083 well its a bit of a mess in places IMO. But I have mad respect for them making something like this instead of playing it safe.
I think the album caught most of us off guard. It’s fantastic.
Your ears must not work
Brooks is a monster on the drums on this album, i never realized he was THIS good.
I know right! Can't wait to share my other videos of this album through out the week
I said the exact same thing when they teased Nobody. I liked him in the stage but he goes far beyond that here. Mixed with Haners genius, kinda reminded me of rev in a few songs. RIP Jimmy!
@@nvrdie6276 I respect your opinion but his work on The Stage was definitely more complicated. Intro to The Stage or Paradigm are ridiculous
@@JasonDrums24yeah, on The Stage Brooks and Syn carried the whole thing
Yes. I saw it on his first album with him.. it really fits where they have gone and where they are going. As much as I loved the Rev and his stuff on the other albums....and it was perfect for those... Brookes is phenomenal and brings something very different but very dynamical fits so well with this musical path they have taken.
Ive seen a LOT of comments saying "they forgot how to write transitions, the record is a mess, it sounds chaotic." This song tells me that all of those "chaotic" design choices were just that, choices. They did not "forget how to write transitions." They wanted to try something new and let the music truly tell a larger story. I love this song to bits.
Yea I love listening to the album as a whole, and I literally mediated for an hour while listening to this album this morning
@@dicodec did the same the day it came out. Had one good listening session with a joint, the next day i sat cross legged in the dark and listened with my eyes closed. Euphoric experience indeed.
Right, some of the transitions are jarring and that’s what the band intended. I guess most people just have their idea of a “transition” in their head and don’t wanna deviate from that.
@@AarynMartin96 prog as a genre is built on abrupt and seemingly out of place transition. Its an aspect of classical music as well
The transitions specifically is the rnb element they’ve been talking about. Rnb albums typically don’t have dramatic transitions and just sorta hit a different part.
This song fucks so good I cant even describe it
Love that description 😂❤
Bro this comment made me lmfao😂
Very close to being my favourite of theirs. I have alot of a7x faves though lol
This album will be remembered in a few years as a real masterpiece. I love how fresh and new this sounds with that touch that Avenged always offers.
Life is but a Dream reminds me of when Linkin Park dropped "A Thousand Suns". Very polarizing and not what was expected on release but now everyone likes it years later.
I think it will be the same for A7X's new album, people just need time.
This song actually affected me for days, I felt super emotional and on the verge of tears, super melancholic but happy at the same time. The whole album is an artful masterpiece, but this song is on another level.
Relax
@@LorenzoC2314 Yeah fair enough. I got emotional, what can I say.
Man idk why i never get emotional from music where i felt i could have a few tears and this song hits me still after 20 times like it did the first time.
Your a weirdo lol I get it. Ha ha
12:05 when I first heard M. Shadows sing like this I wanted to cry, it was so goddamn beautiful. I’ve never heard him sing so peaceful like this. 😭💙🖤💙
You wanted to? Bro i did i couldn’t control it. song is so beautiful
There’s other songs they do this
It’s the part of the song that hits me every single time.
Long story short my wife and I had a miscarriage in 2019, so when the auto tune kicks in I immediately think that it’s our lost child speaking back to us
I've never cried to a song that wasn't "in your face, you're going to cry because this is a sad song with a sad music video" before this song. Somehow this song is sad because the listener MAKES it sad. It has this amazing ability to pull memories and thoughts out of you that just put this whole picture together, and makes you think of the past, present, future, and beyond, and all your loved ones. Incredible song writing.
exactly this!
It really makes me think that they miss their friend the Rev. That’s what makes it sad for me. I almost feel like they are talking to their friend in this song wish I he didn’t leave so soon.
This song is a goodbye and a see ya later. It’s sad and beautiful
@@scylentdeth3198- It’s about Matt and his wife Val doing mushrooms but yeah.
@@matthewcaimbeul8722 Yeah I follow A7X too so let me clarify: For me…this song is a goodbye and a see ya later.
I get how it’s really hard for people to accept that a7x is in their mid 40’s now, and Matt isn’t able to scream that much anymore, etc. but they did what they were comfortable with doing in LIBAD. They did what they wanted to do and they were still so creative with this new album. There are some negatives but I think there are a lot more positives that come from it along with the fact that they’re not one of those bands that does the same shit every single album. It shows how insanely talented and creative these guys are to be able to explore all sorts of sounds and still make them sound good. To the people who only listen to A7X for their interest of metal, they probably hated it. Just because it doesn’t fuel YOUR interest, doesn’t mean this is a shitty album. At least respect their passion
I…agree with 99.9% of what you said, but Matt has some killer screams on this album that are as strong as anything he’s done since the early days. Regardless, yeah i think most people that are just outright hating on it didn’t even want to accept what the band was doing in the first place, and its ok if its not someone’s style, but like you said, you gotta respect it. It’s a solid album even if its not for everyone.
Matt can still scream,
He killed it at the forum.
@@nickmoncada3526I was about to say the same exact thing. Such a great show
Going from the new Metallica album to this one, it was a huge difference. Generic solos, and generic sounds in Metallica to this brilliant album. I've been a fan of A7X since City of Evil, and this album makes me so glad I stuck with the band. You can tell everyone in A7X had poured all their passion into these songs, and didn't want to be generic
metallica is done, time to call it a career
as much as i agree with you metallica is in their 60's lol, they aren't going to get much better
They could have called it quits after their black album (which I think is their worst) but they had a song on their that I think paved the way for what they could be and it’s Acid Rain. And then The Stage walked so this album could run.
@@Frankie0532 Planets is also great from that album, I think it works super well with Acid Rain
@@badwulff I agree with you guys
Not only is this album a masterpiece, this track is the greatest thing to happen to the world of music since Bob Dylan first picked up a pen
3:50 Just because M. Shadows can't scream anymore, doesn't mean the guitarist can't. Holy shit I get goosebumps everytime from that.
M Shadows has great screams on the stage and Libad?
I would give ANYTHING to be able to listen to this song for the first time again
Great breakdown! Glad this song is getting the recognition is deserves. It's a masterpiece
People have forgotten how to listen to music. It's a good thing I'm not an crazy a7x fan, so I wasn't expecting anything from the album. But I was pleasantly surprised, because this is what music should be. It's art, not just a bunch of singles. Those who don't like this album are the tiktok generation. Everyone expects heavy guitars, simple rhythm and predictable phrases. They are not interested in the message of the album, the lyrics and experiments. Believe me, people who really listen to Music and not singles, they will like the album because it is a journey. I'm glad the album turned out that way. It will stay on my playlist for a long time and I will listen to it in its entirety, not individual tracks.
That’s how I feel about the Colors 2 album by Between The Buried And Me
@@metalmanny666 Thanks for sharing, will definitely listen to this album!
@@Mister_L_ coma ecliptic is another one of theirs that divided their fans. BTBAM is a solid band
My son has a system in his car, and this WHOLE ALBUM KICKS ASS, with a system pushing the notes!
I just sit in his car rocking TF OUT!!
I'm certain the neighbors love me...😅
"Nobody", is one of my faves using the system.
This band has SUCH an interesting blend of sounds, vocals, different mixture of instruments...it's almost boring listening to "regular" music now. 😅❤😎🤙
Edit: The complete JOY on your face while listening, is EVERYTHING!! 🥰😍
That is awesome! I am going to listen in my car today on my way to filming, I have just listened in my headphones so far.
Awesomeness 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Oh dude that breakdown with the piano at the end that rumble fuckin HITS!!!
There are few who says 'nobody' is their fav I'm not one just sayin😅
Sound system is huuuuuge. The use of sub base is the cherry on top.
brooks is such a good drummer man. the ending of this song feels so free
It’s so nice to see more people appreciating this album 😄
❤
I love it man. 😱
It seems to be a very polarizing album on release, but I think it'll grow on a lot of the naysayers over time.
For me them last track that piano is just awesome and that’s coming from a guy that love’s heavy heavy shit
Agreed. It's nice to have contrast.
I can’t stop listening to this song. It’s been on repeat since Fri!!
Same! Shit, the whole album, man! Love A7X. This is a masterpiece by them!
happened to me. Now I’m in Mattel non-stop lol
@@dms14 so fucking good man! I haven’t replayed a new album this many times in years, it’s been on constant repeat for me all week.
Love this album, and this song is easily in my top 3 from A7X the moment i heard it, such a good song
What a phenomenal breakdown of this track dude! Love your passion for music!
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you for watching!
I wanna say - on first listen, I already loved that humongous snare reverb that you mentioned at 2:55. But then I had the chance to watch A7X perform this song live in Jakarta (just 3 weeks ago) and I swear, in the live rendition, that reverb feels SO MUCH MORE MAJESTIC like it echoes throughout the whole god damn universe. It's fucking awesome.
This album, even if you don’t like it, is one of the most incredible pieces of music ever. The way everything is composed, the organic orchestra (and many other instruments played by Syn), the progressions, the quality. It’s simply great.
This song brought tears to my eyes first time I listened to it, masterpiece.
It's almost like they sat down and asked; "How can we make M.I.A. more bad ass?".
Lol
Great Reaction!
Metalheads hate it. Musicheads Love it.
I think people will love the songs more if they think of the 3 aspects: Music, Concept, Lyrics
Love how they are heavily circling around Absurdism and Existentialism. Here are my short overview for each song. These can still be expounded upon as the lyrics have multiple layers to them :
1. Game Over - Meaninglessness of Life
2. Mattel - Reference to the Truman Show. Simulation/Illusion but in reality everything is predefined. Much like a continuation to The Stage album concept
3. Nobody - Realization that we are "one with the universe" and a "nobody" in the grand scheme of things
4. We Love You - Most say it's about capitalism. But I interpret the song as representation of human ego and the illusion of choice. Thinking about it, Capitalists only 'capitalizes' over human ego and greed to 'manufacture a need' (more more more...build build build...we love you...you're on in a million). Without these 2 human qualities they are nothing. Problem is, we cannot separate these 2 qualities to our humanity. Thus, in the end, we consume what they provide regardless.
5. Cosmic - Cycle of Life and Death. The idea that we are all made up of the same cosmic energy - we do not go away. We just take up a new form or has been in a different form in our past lives. Written in beautiful love song
6. Beautiful Morning - A character who faces an inner struggle and attempt to find meaning. This character they are trying to portray in this song is everyone's worst day of their life.
7. Easier - The same character who wants to Surrender. Suggesting to take the 'easy way out'. Uplifting music but sinister meaning between the lines. I interpret the random 'pew pew pew' sounds at the solo that the character has thoughts about taking that gun to the head. Again another cute sci-fi gun sound a contrast to it's meaning.
8. G - Referencing the story of Creation. And an irritated God is contemplating to just wants to delete what he made and restart.
9. Ordinary - Other songs talk about suicide, emptiness, meaninglessness, hopelessness, etc of human life. This song is an attempt to say that "you got a problem with life? I don't even have one and I desperately want it. you must be lucky to live" from an AI (thus the electronic vibe). This song is perfectly placed in the sequence of the album because right after it, the human in the next song commits suicide nonetheless without regard.
10. Death - The same character from 'Beautiful Morning' and 'Easier' in the end commits suicide
11. LIBAD - Closing the curtains
Everything is done with intent. It's chaotically beautiful
I’ve always been a metal head but as someone who has a death bat tattoo on their arm, I fucking love this album.
@@TheMostGloriousBeard Then you're a musichead who happens to love metal. You hear melodies and harmonies and other nuances of music. Metalheads only hear chug chug chug (guilty me until about 10 years ago 😂) chug chug chug chug, (solo) tininiw wiiiw tin tiniw, (back to) chug chug chug chuguchug (end of song)
That’s a good way to put it man. Don’t get me wrong I do love the chugs every now and then. (That breakdown in raining blood still gets me), but this album and The Stage are probably in my top 3 A7X albums.
There's a huge Pink Floyd vibe in this marvelous album !
I Love it sooo much !
Brian's work on this album is amazing. This song and Nobody solo are the best examples.
Amazing breakdown , I can’t wait to do this drum cover fully . I love this channel
After watching this and really listening, this is definitely in my top 5 favourites off the album.
I really enjoyed you reaction and all the techical details you gave us! Thank you man!
Subscribed after your video on We Love You - man have you not disappointed! Still loving that you break it down by track, but also your passion is so contagious!
wow amazing breakdown, subscribed, love this album!!
you deserved thousands likes. i love how you break it down👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 made me even more realized how beautiful this song is. keep goinggg
You have the best reaction vidoes I've seen. earned a sub my brother
Terrific analysis, you got a brilliant feel for the song. This album is genuinely magical 🤘
Cosmic live is incredibly. Life is but a dream is incredible live. A7X is incredible live. I got to see them yesterday… wow.
The part at 6:23 evokes a feeling of birth, like a big bang or the moment you were born and it just instantly grabs you and then emotion just pours out when Matt starts singing over the piano and slow drum. Its just so beautiful man.
This is my favorite review of the track. I love how you isolate sections and point out details.
I think you’ve got a new signature. The smirk, silence and drinking from the mug was a “I don’t even need to say it” cue on the solo 😂
11:15 the way your face lights up by Matt's angelic "LET IT GOOOOO" has me in tears, really solid video! agree with the title, it's their magnum opus
9:50 - 10:05 would be great if REV sings it. He has that high note they need
Amazing song and a brilliant review and reaction. I love how you don’t talk over the song like other you tubers. You take it all in
hey man your reactions are some of the best. The way you separate the tracks and give us a better understanding on how the music is produce is just awesome.
i also have stop watching many reactions channels because now i find them boring, but your reactions i am always exited to check them out. I am not a big fan of Avenged Sevenfold but this is actually cool
What a great song. I haven't always been the biggest fan of A7X, but I recognize excellence when I hear it. Bravo
Can't wait for what is coming next 😉 great vid!
❤️
definitely a good breakdown of this songs ethos. i felt very similar upon first listen to you. as an aspiring sound engineer, love to see you geek out too!
Thanks man!
Best reaction ive seen. Your perspective as an engineer provides awesome little tid bits of identification and explanation. Subbed. Thanks. I love when the parts are shown with an isolated instrument(s). Album is unreal good.
Edit: happy to see you did Nobody and We Love You also. Lets go!!
This song had me in a trance for WEEKS after the album came out. And then I saw them live in pittsburgh last month and they performed it live and it was amazing and put me right back in that trance, I fuckin cried while they performed it its so perfect
Man this song emotional wise makes me cry everytime pike i have a chance for the chemical that i am with reunite with my fathers someday rest in peace dad
Great music. Great breakdown.
Great video! One small thing, I don't think that's an organ/keys sound at the start, to me it sounds like an octave pedal playing 2 octaves up. You can hear from the very slight lossy quality of it. Keep the videos up dude!
I believe you are right man it is crazy how many ways you can get these sounds.
really great reaction and breakdown!
The dissonant chord you described - I was waiting to see your interpretation of it :) Personally I find it to be the highlight of the song due to the dissonance resolution in your video at 12:00, I can tell you noticed it. Definitely a nod to their song, Exist - and the concept of the Big Bang and perfect conditions to facilitate life - or perhaps its something else
I heard the chord and immediately thought "Exist throwback?!" the first time I heard it. Brilliant
every single time ive heard this song i get full body chills, a whole ass masterpiece
Man, Brooks just went OFF for the second half of the song.
Fav album and Cosmic is now my fav song, in front of Exist and The Wicked End. It’s phenomenal
I love it. I’m convinced that the line “Pain, it found its way back in, until we meet again, into that good night” is him talking about the last time he saw The Rev. M Shadows has struggled with the fact that after their roadie Jason’s wedding, he turned in for the night despite The Rev’s insistence that they take a keg left over from the wedding back to Shadow’s house that was just down the street from the wedding venue. He said good night to The Rev so he could get to bed because of his early tee time the following morning. He feels that if he just let The Rev stay that he could have protected him. The Rev told Shadows good night, he loved him, and scurried off into the night to continue the party with people he didn’t know. M is haunted by all the what if’s. Tragic.
I was finally able to see A7X live after loving them since discovering them in 08’. It was everything I expected and more ❤️
you gotta do the entire album!
Good reaction and analysis, this song is turning into one in a generation song I feel, it's epic.
Just a couple of things though, as a drummer and live sound engineer of nearly 40 years. The snare crack on the quarter time at the start isn't a flam, it's a single stroke. The tom sound on the last moment are probably shallow steel toms with no bottom head, similar to the Phil Collins famous tom sound. It's great way to cut the fill in as you said, through the Phil Spectre style wall of sound. It's epic for sure.
Came to the comments just to see if I could find someone mention that it wasn’t a flam. Other than that, this video is awesome to me!
@@cenoxx I wish I never watched the video now. EVERY TIME I head Cosmic and them snare hits I still say to myself, "defo not a flam" :)
When I listen to the newer songs, I always imagine that the parts that are now with the extreme effects on the vocals would maybe in a different time line have been sung by James. (Which when you imagine it in your head would have sounded incredible)
This is my new favorite album. Cosmic is great, and I'm always here for their Ballads. My favorite song on the record? G. The "Best one" in my opinion? Mattel. Mattel has the best components from their discography jammed into one track
We would be friends irl
@@macdietz we're friends now
Honestly, personally, I don’t get how people don’t like this album. From all the reactions and critics it’s been really negative.
Music taste nowadays are so accustomed to the same thing that when people hear something different ppl will dislike
Personally “we love you” and “game over” just weren’t for me but the rest of the album is just perfect
There's been a lot of praise for this album too. The initial reception was very good, when people were actually listening to it by themselves and making up their own minds. Then social media started talking about it and the zeitgeist turned into "A7X isn't allowed / isn't good enough to make art!! They're supposed to stay in their lane and churn out more METAL for me to work out to / hate on!!"
“God damn YES!”-pretty much all of us haha.
Brooks in this album totally captured me. He can turn a simple Bum ba bum bum ba into something really enjoyable 😂👏
This is why I love A7X. Their story telling is superb. And instead of competition, Shadows voice and the Instrumentals compliment each other!
Do the whole album !!
awesome❤️
At 0:51 you say piano, but I believe it's a POG effect on the guitar. They did a breakdown of Exist and there's a similar tone in the song which they said was done using a POG pedal. Pretty cool sound though. Also at 3:08 I believe it's just a single hit and not a flam judging by the sound of it and only hearing one sticking. They just added a good bit of effects on it.
Love this song, love Maximum the Hormone, you've got a new subscriber! Fantastic breakdown!
Yo here is when we first discovered maximum the hormone ua-cam.com/play/PL1flmTbuu_RHk19cxm2s05ENEDwCZXF13.html
Masterpiece, period
I had low hopes for this album based off we love you, but i have to say i am happy to be wrong and have had this allbum on repeat since it dropped
Cosmic just a pure masterpiece...
so grateful it came out in the world I live in
A7X foREVer 🤘🦇
Hearing this song on my kali monitors for the first time was probably one of the best experiences I've ever had to be honest.
@Dicodec.. sure!
One of their best albums ❤️
this is what i call "music". unique, catchy, progression and soul. this is music.
that brooks guy really killin it in this album, what a beast
Amazing song in an amazing album
Love it! Would love to get just the isolated stems of all the parts to listen to the individual parts
Join us in discord and I can get those to you
8:20 lmfao. Syn is definitely one to make you feel the feel w his bends. Exhibit A: the end of ‘So Far Away’
I feel so much like Brooks is just what the Rev would have wanted for the guys ❤ the drums are so on point.
I love this song and this album so much
Those drums 🤯🤯🤯🤯
This is the most fucking very good damn song I have ever heard, especially the last part🫠
Has to be the best song they’ve ever written. Unreal and the lyrical content is so powerful.
Loved this song, thanks. The guitar solo kind of made me think of joey satriani, not like a direct comparison just the feeling it had...maybe im crazy. Also the entire song kind of gave me a feeling of gnr's november rain. Thanks for the video
I totally hear those comparisons too. I hadn’t thought about Satriani until you mentioned him, but it really does sound like his style in a way. I thought about November Rain the first time I heard the song, and it just made me love it that much more.
This song is AMAZING!
You're awesome man!
❤️
Great vid! How did you get hold of the mixed track? Guessing some sort of patreon sub?
10:47 im glad you said something like 3 voices. You said 2 tracks and I thought i was crazy for hearing something else on the lower one lol
Sounds weird but I feel like you really need to be prepared to listen to an album like this, just to understand it.. Absolutely love this song, obviously the solo is nuts but the outro is something else 🤟🏻
I love the album!
everything and i mean everything, is guitars with effects added even the "organ"
This album is making me work more on my less than beginner( 🙃 ) piano skills...
This whole album is a book, needs to be heard from beginning to end to understand
A7x almost never uses autotune, they also do everything. They dont really like to rely on effects but obviously now theyre experimenting and branching out some more. Like in a little piece of heaven they had an orchestra and choir record with them and a female vocalist. The whole band can do backing vocals essentially too so they hardly ever need to use anything.
Amazing album.
Awesomeness
