  • Welcome to episode #5 of Ask an Ex.
In this video, you’ll hear Dolly’s story of how she quit smoking after 23 years in February 2019!
Dolly has an amazing story with a lot of valuable lessons and tips!
She tried to quit smoking many times in the past to no avail. She tried nicotine substitutes, ear magnet, pills and cold turkey.
After going through the CBQ program she quit, but she found it so easy she couldn’t believe how it happened.
Then she found herself in a tempting situation and relapsed, but she knew she’d never smoke again. And she didn’t. That was on the 15th of February 2019.
Later, her resolve was tested again but she didn’t cave and didn’t feel deprived either!
Best thing, I had the pleasure of meeting her in London and gave her her success certificate in person :)
    In this video, Dolly shares:
    - How she quit smoking.
    - Tips to turn a brief relapse into a lesson so that you won’t go back to smoking.
    - What she enjoys the most about being a non-smoker.
    - What helps her when she feels stressed.
    - What you should you if you have “just one cigarette” after your quit date.
    Chapters:
00:00 - Meet CBQ Program Member Dolly from Texas, US

There's a lot to like about this video. The imagery of putting out a cigarette on your lungs was particularly potent!
But the biggest positive takeaway for me is simply the fact that these videos exist at all. I once heard someone say that "addiction is a disease of isolation". As someone who has been sober through a 12-step program (read: community and a LACK of isolation) for most of my adult life, that IMMEDIATELY made sense. Yet I never realized until today that I need that very same sense of community with others who have been through or are going through the very same things in relation to quitting nicotine. And these videos are certainly part of feeling plugged into a community that can truly help. As Nasia knows, my day today started out pretty roughly, to say the least. But it has turned 180 degrees simply by virtue of truly plugging into the program and the other people there! (My intuition is SCREAMING at me that this is a big part of what has been missing for me with quitting nicotine.)
So, thanks for doing these, Nasia. And thanks, Dolly, for taking part. You mentioned a desire to help others. Well, you DEFINITELY have with this! Quitting is clearly life-altering, so any time you can help someone do so, that's about as significant a thing as you can do!

Thank you Dolly for your story and Nasia for the interview. I've been working on my mental addiction since the 1st of january 2023. I'm not in Nasia's program but I've taken so much from all her videos and the 4 steps of CBQ. Up till about a week ago I've been very confident in my quit and now all of a sudden I'm struggling with talking back to my craving mind and I'm smoking more than I have been. I've noticed I'm slowly increasing the number of cigs I'm having in a day and this is making me sad. I thank you for your story because even though I still feel dismayed with my journey right now, I still have a deep down belief that I am and will be a non-smoker on my quit date. Feb 5th is the date.

Good point, if you relapse, don't make it the end of the world. Pick yourself up and keep in going.

One more comment, Nasia said what happens when you change your thoughts. For YEARS, in my spiritual quest, I've read/heard many times, change your thoughts, CHANGE YOUR LIFE!! This fits PERFECTLY!!❤

    Inspiring story!
I like the fact of monitoring your smoking. When we smoke we are on outopilot doing it unconciously and thats where we over smoke. When you count and write down every cigarette you smoke, it forces you to be mindful and make you wonder a lot! Im using this tip and l drasticly reduced the amout of smoke which is amazing! Eventually l will stop monitoring and thats when l become smoke free 😁
Thank you for sharing this great tip!

I've been stuck on day 1 for a WHILE now, and although I thought I knew what Nasia was saying, my thought was, I'm doing something wrong, this isnt working. But after watching this video, I realize what I need to do. Just keep moving forward in the program, regardless of whether or not I FEEL like it's working or not, and almost like, let the program do the work FOR ME. 'Hope this makes sense!! THANK YOU Nasia and Dolly!!!❤🎉

We highly recommend you try the CBQ Method either by joining our members program like Dolly did or by applying the CBQ by yourself. Our paid program that Dolly talks about in this video is a full-on transformational course product of years of research and education and our members LOVE it! The magic definitely has to do with Dolly

The Allen Carr method is great for its time but is now outdated and does not follow a strategy based on psychology.
