Having had both the cars in question my opinion is as follows. An m140i without an LSD will always be flawed, get an mp LSD in it. With an LSD it will be 80% an M4 but with much lower running costs and more practicality. The B58 in the m140i is a brilliant engine. However, the S55 in the M4 is a marvel of engineering and is a phenomenal blend of performance and usability. It produces torque everywhere and pulls strong to 7.5k. In my view an M4 will always be the better performance car unless you spend 15k upgrading your m140i, and even then, just get an M4.
Sorry to be a nerd but the M4 has the S55 not N55 engine I’m sure you know that though and I imagine it’s not easy talking to camera and driving while peeling off facts and figures. 👍 A good comparison for a car that’s 7-8 tenths of the M4 with a lot less running costs.
Starting to feel there's only so much that you can say about the same car. Lee Lockwood seems to have quite a few cars on the go and you learn something from the videos.
Good video, Jamie. However, not sure about the town mpg in the 140. I’m running a BM3 stage 2 with a stage 3 XHP and 200 cell sports cat, I pretty only drive around town at the moment due to my job and I’m seeing around 180 miles from a full tank of V Power.
Good video pal I think you should see if you can get hold of a M140I with LCD fitted and a stage 1 and do a comparison with your M4 and see if the results changes
M140i is flawed out of the box. You buy one for £18k, and by the time you have "fixed" its flaws (remap, lsd, suspension, brakes, wheels/tyres) you've spent as much as you would have if you just bought an M4, which is already set up. Just buy the M4.
Brilliant video and a very interesting comparison. I like this kind of content. There's no way I could afford an M140i, let alone an M4. I'd have to settle for a 125i shadow edition or a 430d xDrive 🤣. Still nice choices 🤷♂️
@@Buck3366 it’s got no optional extras. It don’t have reverse camera or Harmon kardon. Hasn’t got heads up display. He will be lucky to get 24 for that

As a owner of an m140i and now m4 I don’t find the gap in running costs that big to be fair, agree with a lot of the other points!
How did you find going from an m140 to an m4? Any regrets? I have a 2017 m140i and I’m about to do a deal on a 2018 m4 comp (pre opf filters)

M4 has a inline 6 S55. 335i’s had the N55.
Maybe he got confused with the early M2 as that had the N55 before they put in the S55 for the Competition

All I’m saying is iv had an m4 for nearly 2 years and it’s been nowt but issues for sure will be going back to an Audi RS model
Would like to see the comparison with a stage 1 435D xdrive
Great video 👍🏻 it’s something different, by the sounds of It an m140i is better suited to you than an M4 🤔
Just a thought but what about a “cheap”uk2000 turbo build for an idea 🤔
As a classic Scooby owner I love this idea 😍
The true reg plate reveals itself and there’s now way your getting just under 30 for yours that’s fully loaded low mileage m4 money
71 k miles that’s done. Looking on AT its a mix of prices I’d say £25-27k on a dealers. 40k miler 2015 going just shy of 30.

Any m car is better than a m sport but any bmw is better then non
B58 ❤
