You see, here's the thing about Killing Kind, on one hand it's home to a really good cover of Tyrant, but on the other... "it's a hit! HIT! Can ya take a hit? On ya belly up, suffah me this-" combine the low amount of highs, excessive cringe, and boatload of filler and you've got an album to sit with the likes of other bargain bin records like Super Collider or Virtual XI.

Plus, the melodic writing of the lines themselves only add to the fact that the song sounds like it's TRYING to out-cornball the competition, and the music itself isn't nearly enough to redeem the inexcusable cheese. If you like it, good for you. It's cringe though.

I'm not even gonna try and rank this band's immense discography, but I have tremendous respect for them. Consistently great from the 80's up to the present. Ah I've been waiting for this tier list, I always like talking about overkill, in the discord I said they were a favorite of mine like top 3, but thinking on it now, they're more in my top 10 or 20 cause I can't listen to them all the time, plus listening to they're discog now, there's not really albums I love, but more I have a lot of songs I love from them. I probably enjoy overkill more than most cause for some reason I find them really calming to me, maybe cause I really love the vocals, I really love Bobby's voice a lot, I know its polarizing to some and can be annoying sometimes, but whenever they hit, i really love them. I still remember being depressed in highschool and just being recommended an overkill song on UA-cam and it calmed me so much, so now whenever I feel really sad, depressed, stressed, or all that bad thoughts and stuff, always put on overkill and they cheer me up so much, always puts me in a good mood again so maybe in that since they really are a top 3 for me, but I like listening to other stuff more. Anyway sidetracked lol, nice list, I am actually shocked you put Years of Decay in Perfection because of the doom influences on that record, id probably put it in Perfection too and I like it more than horrorscope. This week while running through Type O's discography imma listen to overkills discog too since wanna make a tier list of them, think it'd be fun.
Nice list and thanks for showing off more music to me and many other people out there too. Hope to see more videos whether it be tier lists or showing off obscure bands and also hope to talk more in discord since you seem cool and you as well as everyone else in there's been helping me better my taste and music knowledge too.

I personally think your ranking of this band is quite fair. I’ve been a fan since 89 when the first song I ever heard was powersurge. It was on a “metal maniacs” compilation album. After that, I deep dived into everything they released up to that point and stayed with them from there on out. I will for sure admit that overkill has a tendency to have hit and miss albums. But for me, years of decay, horrorscope, wfo, from the underground and below, and killbox 13 are all my favorites.
I love this channel by the way. I would definitely love to see a Testament ranking sometime if possible. I think Overkills inconsistency kind of contributes to them being a fun band to follow. It's kinda like "UH-OH, WE GETTING A GOOD ALBUM OR A STINKER THIS TIME!?!?!? LET'S SPIN THE WHEEL!!!". Also, no matter where that wheel lands, you can always make a comment about Bobby Blitzes vocals. His strange approach kind of compounds the issues on the bad albums, but on an album like Ironbound, I feel like they give Overkill a unique sound.

I'll always love Overkill's new albums, because I support what they do. Every album has some really awesome scorchers - forgive the pun. But I must contend that Bobby Gustafson was what Bon Scott was to AC/DC; he kept the innovations and dynamics going, making each of the albums unique, while still maintaining the spirit of Overkill alive. And just like Back In Black still sounded fresh and exciting because of the new member and energy, Horrorscope sounded exciting despite Bobby Gustafson no longer being in the band. However after that the well sort of went dry and each consequent release tended to sound similar, even though of course there were exceptions ( I Hear Black had a very different feel to it). I still LOVE a new Overkill album though!! Never disappoints.
To sum this up, when a new Overkill album with Bobby Gustafson was coming out, you had no idea what it was going to sound like, but you knew it was going to fucking RIP!!! Now when a new Overkill album without Bobby Gustafson is coming out, you have a pretty good idea what it is going to sound like, and you know it is going to fucking RIP!!!

Interesting video/list overall. Just curious, are you an Overkill fan that has been following them for some time (if so, since what album?), or is this based on a chronological binge for the sake of this video? Either is fine. I ask cause there is something to be said about living with a band versus first/limited time impressions, especially one like Overkill that is arguably an acquired taste, so knowing which applies to you would give a helpful context to your list.
I've been a fan since Taking Over came out. Personally I think they've been in a frustrating Groundhog's Day rut since Ironbound. I have my fingers crossed for Scorched, but can't say I'm holding my breath. Not that it matters. I just think it's awesome they're still around, and still one of the best live bands in the business.
Also, fun fact (if not already mentioned in this thread): Dime specifically requested Terry Date for CFH because he wanted Gustafson's guitar tone from Years of Decay; the same album that very much influenced Pantera's move away from their traditional/glam roots and into heavier stuff.

I bounced around a lot of genres and bands before I landed on Feel the Fire. It is my favorite album of all time from my favorite band of all time. I have Chaly tattooed to my back and eventually my brothers got green and black tattoos. I say all that to say Feel the Fire is my favorite album, but it's not a great album. I Hear Black is the worst album I have ever heard period. Kreator is the port I set sail from, but Overkill is what I call home.

As a fan, I only consider I Hear Black a bad album overall, sold well but it's impossible for me to recommend to anyone.
As a thrasher, I can understand why people don't like experimental groovy/industrial/hard rock vibes from Overkill. I personally love Immortalis more than Relix and I listen to it more than Horrorscope, but it's not a pure thrash album, I must admit. Scorched has been, in my opinion, the best album Overkill has done since Ironbound and since The Years of Decay. But I just love them, so maybe I'm not being objective here.

If you were not there in 1985 you cannot know better. "Feel the Fire" is a gem of Thrash Metal, because it was, when it came out. Although Thrash later developed in what nowadays is called Thrash, it's still fact, that FTF was Thrash and will always be.
They never reached the fresh energy and creativity again. FTF is the best Overkill album. Its sound is unique, while modern albums sound all the same

My favorite is Horrorscope, but The Years of Decay, Under the Influence, The Killing Kind, and From the Underground and Below are also in my top five. The only album I'd place in the bad category is Necroshine (Black Line is easily the worst track they've ever released, such a god-awful chorus, and I can't stand the out-of-tune whistling part). I can't rank the rest, I'll have to go on an overkill binge sometime.
It hurts seeing The Killing Kind at the very bottom, that used to be my favorite Overkill album lol. Cold Hard Fact might be my favorite Overkill song; Godlike, Certifiable, Burn You Down to Ashes, and Let Me Shut That for You also rank among my favorite Overkill tracks. I agree with The Battle though, the yeahs are obnoxious, and the chorus is underwhelming. Killing Kind might have worse lyrics than usual, but Overkill has always had bad lyrics, so it doesn't bother me. Honestly, after relistening to it, I'd still place it really high in 2nd or 3rd.

Tom did a great job with Slayer, Max Cavelera on old sepultura, just something about Zetro and Overkill, it's in the tone and to be honest both bands are guilty of having some pretty cringe lyrics on top of all that. Been a fan since '84 before the first album was out. You young dudes have the weirdest taste in music. How is Bloodletting not fantastic? So sick of hearing about how great Ironbound is, ratcheting up the speed doesn't equate to quality songwriting. With just 3 good solid tunes it's not great, it's not good, it's just OK. Seems like a lot of the songs you mentioned you hated, I love. And almost every song you said you liked, I'd call sub-par. But to each their own.
