Russia wasn’t allowed outside western music until this concert! This was historically important
This concert has slowly became the Pinnacle high point coolest concert in Metallicas whole carreer for me.
Thats what I came to say
It brought two countries together. Real talk
1.6 million people spilled through the wall.
Was this possibly an air field where this took place?
Take every NFL team's stadium, fill it with METALLICA fans, then fly them all here.
Guys here...whip it out and piss.
Can u imagine the girls?
"Honey I gotta pee"
OK baby.
"Honey I gotta pee!"
Yeah go ahead baby.
"NO! HONEY! I GOTTA PEE!!"
YEAH! I KNOW! I SAID GO AHEAD BABY!!
"YEAH I KNOW YOU DID! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WALK ME TO THE BATHROOM!"
WAIT!! You want me to walk yourass all the way home!?"
"NO! Just somewhere to pee where nobody can see me!"
BITCH I AINT GOT TIME TO WALK YOURASS TO NEBRASKA!!
Only METALLICA
Sorry Maiden.
Never never never never NEVER pause during Kirk Hammett‘ solo!!!
Or any solo
stfu
After reading this comment at the starting of the video my mind is fucked up
#facts
Ill give him a partial pass since its only a Kirk solo.
Metallica rocked that concert so hard the iron curtain fell down
I know this was a while ago- I just decided to watch again- saw this comment- best comment goes to you for sure- 😅 but also facts!
"what is literally happening right now bro?" Sir, you're being introduced to the biggest metal band on the planet.
At the biggest collection of people at that, also..
the biggest metal band that exists or ever will exist. the absolute pinnacle of metal.
I'm pretty sure this concert is where the show Dethklok got its inspiration from.
We just witness the birth of a Metalhead. Welcome to the crew.🤘
The crowd approx 1.4 million.
willie 55 It’s in Guinness as the fifth largest show at an estimated 1.6M+.
1.6 million throughout the whole festival. They estimate about 500-600k at one time.
@@eldiego68 THIS!
Welcome home
loooove it!!!!
Pantera: Domination. Live in Moscow, same show
for me, Domination is the epitome of Metal from this era. Perfect
Domination has to be the next reaction video🤘
Domination (Live) by Pantera 1991, same concert as this Metallica show.
Domination is the most fierce moment in metal history.
That’s exactly why I came to the comments....Pantera Domination Moscow!!!!
1.6 million at this show.
Million in the show
James Hetfield said on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast that there is around 500,000 people there
trever pitts he doesn’t know. It was a free concert and they stopped counting around 500k because it was getting insane. And that was hours before Metallica came on. When they came out there was still people trying to get in. 1.5 mil minimum easy. Just look at what a crown of a million people looks like and compare
@@TheJerseyNinja regardless of the number is still a lot of people 1 million or 500,000 whatever it really was that's as many people as the city I live in I just pretty crazy
trever pitts oh absolutely
This was the first big metal show in the former Soviet Union after the fall of the Berlin wall. They had been waiting for this for decades.
The lyrics to this song are also awesome. It's about the angel of death and the passover. Leading to Moses and the Jews Exodus from Egypt.
Lance Thompson This was a free festival. It’s actually comprised of bands that played the Monsters of Rock tour that year. This show was actually headlined by AC/DC. Metallica didn’t headline a MoR tour until 1995. I tell people if they want to appreciate this song even more, then watch the movie Moses starring Charlton Heston.
@@frankiek2269 yep. Monsters of Rock. Many bands not just Metallica.
Yes, you are correct. Tushino airfield, Moscow, Russia. 1.6 M crowd.
@@KenLash "Officially" 😉
The UN-official number is somewhere north of 2 million.
@@TheLastGarou that would not surprise me. Largest crowd I've ever seen. And I go the Indy 500 every year 350K And that's a big crowd.
metallica live in Seattle '89' master of puppets
And while he is talking about getting a whiplash he should check out Whiplash from Seattle 89!
@@666Tormentor666 yup, the one Curt Cobain was at!
Also check out the thing that should not be live Seattle 89 nothing could be heavier than that
4:44 They have song called Whiplash. You should check
Gotta do it Live in Seattle 1989
Interesting fact. Metallica was the first and may still be the only band to have ever performed on all 7 continents.
Iron Maiden too I believe
Dethklok.
Iron Maiden was doing it all along and have been doing it since 83 if i am not mistaken. Also Ozzy and and Scorpions.
@Ricky Weeks you are correct...I thought they did but they didn't...only Metallica
That’s crazy BRO
You should watch the common companion video to this one. Pantera: Domination. Live in Moscow. But I don't know if your ready for that madness.
yuppppp . . !!!
You'll probably never see another crowd like this at any other event ever these guys made history that day
I'm just here to take a shot every time he says "Bro"
I hope they were SMALL shots. Otherwise you were having alcohol poisoning in the first 30 seconds!
You recover from your alcohol poisoning?
Holy crap fellas, I just woke up... Did I miss any current events this past week???
And now you have alcohol poisoning
Dead before the DIE DIE DIE...
The power of music!! Brings us all together!!
one of the largest shows ever. by most counts, over a million attended.
Saw these guys at Castle Donnington, UK in the early 90's with AC/DC, Motley Crue, Black Crowes, and Queensryche. I was absolutely exhausted for days and after that concert I could hardly move my neck.
I LOOOVE this guy's reaction. His head is exploding before our eyes. 😆 Bro.
Seriously one of the biggest bands ever
Seen them live a few times and never disappointed
Haven't started the video yet, and noticed you jumped from Nothing Else Matters straight to a million metalheads screaming "Die! Die! Die! Die!".... gonna be fun!
Last official count was 1.6 million, but probably closer to 2 million
Master of puppets,One,The Four Horsemen,Welcome Home Sanitarium,The Day that never comes just to get you started.
One of the biggest concerts EVER. You not gonna beat this
Just subscribed when I saw you reacting to Metallica. Listen to the others below who are recommending Master of Puppets Seattle '89....you won't regret it. Also Enter Sandman from this concert is pretty great too.
Swaggy out of breath like he was actually at that concert.
It was nearly 2 million in that crowd!
Me and a buddy use to party with Jason Newstead when he played in a local Phoenix band call Flotsam and Jetsom. Good times.
“THIS IS WAY PAST THE FIRE....BRO!” 😂😂😂 Great reaction 👍👍👍
Thank you for good content! It's about 1.5 mln people on this concert. It's crazy
Take your time on this metal journey it can be overwhelming welcome aboard
Amazing wasn’t it . But Bro never pause the guitar solo. Bro . 😁
I’ve been a Metallica fan they first appeared on metal massacre. In the early 80’s.
The legendary Kirk Hammett is the lead guitarist here.
You would like Master of Puppets it's about drugs the whole cover is about how drugs put you in the grave. They were always good Christian kids, genius kids & they did party like rockstars but they were never about the devil or hate.
Over a million at that show biggest concert ever, 1991 monsters of rock in Moscow.
Guns N Roses " Nightrain" live at the Ritz 1988
saw them live in 89 at Monsters of Rock concert and i thought 70,000 fans was a lot thats a big crowd
Pantera and ACDC were there as well. It was a free concert just before the USSR collapsed. Was held on an air field.
People DEFINITELY got hurt during this show. The military at the time had no clue what the people were doing (mosh pits, death walls, whatever else) and thought it was a riot during the time, causing mass panic. Helicopters flying over head telling people to stop, sometimes nearly 10-20 feet above the stage, too. It was an insane show.
50 people died!!!
"Fade to black", must see "master of puppets", then "one" all great matalica songs to get started
Check out Band Pantera Song Domination live from Same Concert if not mistaken 🔥
Lol I love Enter Sandman...you always get bigger crowds for rock/metal but this concert was an extreme. I believe its in top 5 biggest in the world and has historical importance.
"I'm done... I'm done."
No, you're not. 😂
moth into flame , fuel, jump in the fire, now that we're dead from metallica are great songs
Best metal song and performance of all time
1.6 millions tickets sold but there are clearly more , 54 people died
Was the first "free outdoor Western rock concert in Soviet history" with 1.6 million in attendance. Several bands....was the Monsters of Rock '91 tour.
54 people died?! Damn
Free concert
You totally gotta see the live from Seattle '89. One of my favourites, prolly my top 1!
Harvester of sorrow or enter sandman from Moscow 1991
Harvester still one of my jams...
Still holds up some 34 years later
To live is to die. It's an instrumental, 10 minutes and dedicated to their late bassist Cliff Burton
"This is waaaaaaaay past a fire hazard". I choked on my beer!!
People from all over Europe went to this concert. Maybe even the world? I know of two full buses travelling there from Sweden. And it was also the first western rock show in USSR, as the Berlin Wall fell, and USSR splintered. People was starving for good music! ;P
Welcome to a new world of magical music...
When you half said this is way past a fire hazard........ I was laughing my ads off
Edit: the key to head banging on fast metal songs in go half speed or a ln angled or rotational style. Going full speed front to back will hurt anyone's neck.
Except for Angus i guess. Must have a damn bionic spine!
MASTER OF PUPPETS...METAL MASTERPIECE AND TIMELESS! HELPED ME THROUGH MY ADDICTION.
Master of puppets. Metallica
Hallowed by thy name. Live..old version..
Iron Maiden
Holy wars punishment due.. Megadeth
Pain killer.. Judas Priest
Fear of the dark.. Live. Iron Maiden
HAHAHAHAHAHAAA OOOOOOHHH MAN this is instantly one of my favourite reaction videos of all time. I'm a die hard metalhead but still the first time I saw this I felt the same, their energy during this specific performance of this song is forever unmatched in my opinion
Liked & subscribed....welcome to the Metal Militia my friend!
Check out Master of Puppets Seattle 89
'i'm done! I'm done...bye bye bye" ... Pwahaha...just discovered you bra' count me in as part of the fam thanks for your appreciation and exuberance... peace and respect from Montreal. They don't call it Rock n' Roll for nothin!
Their era is wonderful
Its being more than 30yrs. They made history in world. Long live rock n roll broda🤘
They have never been the same since Jason imo!
Ya Bro ,i'm from Germany ...and ur right the best Metal i've ever heard ....insane ....fast.....and it have a Melody ...fantastic Energy!!!
There were more people there when AC/DC, who headlined, took the stage.
Metallica - Master of puppets live in Seattle 1989
With to live is to die intro
And Orion and anesthesia
You should check out any of the 83 US festival if you like crowds.
Welcome to the metal family! Your journey has just started!
Loving your reaction, Swaggy!!!! Keep up the great work!!!

First vid I’ve seen from yah. I luv yah bruh! Keep on headbangin!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This was an all day event that also featured Black Crowes, Pantera, and AC/DC. The official estimate is that there were 1.6 million in attendance but since it was a free show, there is no accurate count
I notice you watch most of Metallica's newer videos with the exception of this one, you need to look at some of their concert from Seattle 1989 it's amazing it's when they were in their Prime and they're badass you should watch either Fade to Black or Master of Puppets. They will blow you away, just like this concert is doing!
Might be the best reaction video out there!!! Rock on man!
metal shows were a joyous fun-filled occasion and if you did happen to get a black eye it's only because you slammed your head into the person head-banging behind you and it was a good thing
This, The METAL ARMY... seen any Iron Maiden? :D
We’re turning you into a headbanger. That’s what’s happening. Lol
Connie Whittington 🤫 shhhhh don’t tell nobody lol
This was the Tushio airfield in Moscow for the Monsters of Rock concert. You should check out their intro to that concert and you can even see the military Russian helicopters flying around.
And that 1 million plus crowd is actually there for AC/DC whom came on after Metallica.
One of the highest-attendance music concerts in history was held by Metallica on September 28, 1991 at Tushino Airfield in Moscow, where unofficially 1.6 million people attended. OMFG😱
People being freed from oppression, seeing and feeling the music they love LIVE, FINALLY, 1.6 million fans in unison, a special moment in history.
Not sure how many died, but what a soundtrack to go out on!
"I know somebody got hurt"..
Actually 51 people died in that crowd
Yup! Welcome to my youth😂.
So you love big crowds and their reactions? Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song and Valhalla live at Wacken!
Hello from Cody Wyoming! You are totally awesome keep it up🤠
This was a show that happened right after the collapse of the Soviet Union. As Singer/Rhythm Guitarist James Hetfield said, the crowd wasn’t there solely for Metallica. There were about 3 other heavy metal/hard rock acts that were pretty big names back in ‘92 who were playing there. Metallica’s record label (who were also the label for the other metal acts that played at this event) saw the collapse of the Soviet Union as a good way to capitalize on the free market(s) that was coming to Russia. So Metallica, as per their contract, played the largest concert-level gig in history.
It was a tactic thought up by their management to serve as a huge advertisement for a few American metal bands so that they could sell a shit-load more records. It was a brilliant business move on Metallica’s management’s part, but a lot of bad stuff happened in that crowd there. There were at least 13 murders that took place in the audience and over 200 rapes were committed in that audience. Years later, Metallica found out about the terrible things that went on in that crowd and were noticeably stunned to hear that they were unknowingly playing music to some people’s murders and/or rapes.
IMO, check out The Four Horsemen, Disposable Heros, Hit the Lights, and To Live is To Die. ( An Istrumental.)
This was the first western metal festival to be arranged in the Soviet Union (it's called Monsters of Rock and it was free of charge). That's why there were so many people in the audience. Literally the first time they'd ever experienced something like this.
They are the Beatles of metal.
loved it bro
Awesome reaction. Try Metallica Disposable Heros live in Mexico City 2009
2 million give or take a couple hundred thousand I believe it was. There is no comparison to a metal show. The energy from the crowd and music is electrifying. It's freakin amazing.
Dude!! I've been a SwaggFan for over a year and love your genuine enthusiasm and excitement!!
Dude, I love your reaction to Beasties & Qtip and your never-ending respect for MCA.
