Jason's backing vocals will never be beat
He was a light in the dark path Metallica took in the 90's and a great dude!
Jason was a beast on the bass, and a huge presence on stage... He never really got the credit that he deserved, as a member of Metallica... Shame... Such a badass!
@@DrtyBrd0027 he got it from the point when he left the band to now at least. He gets praises from pretty much everyone now
Truth
Not just vocals but he was the ultimate metal hype man. Metallica lost so much live with him leaving. Rob is a nice guy and great bassist but doesn't come close really.
Not Stalin nor Gorbachev could successfully make 1 million Russians scream DIE in unison. Hetfield could.
Yes sir.
About 1.6 millions this day. Awesome performance, I was 17 ears old. And I became a Pantera's fan after this day.
Только они кричали да, а не дай😁
@@artulyanoff Наверное ты прав, но я орал "дай" 😄
This is the best Passover song ever hah.
And yeah, that’s still Lars, just younger before he lost his hair
My wife doesn’t care for Metallica (how we’re still married, I don’t know)......but I always tell her that this is actually Christian Rock. I don’t think she’s buying it, though.
@@VadersRage I mean if you break down the lyrics to Creeping Death it has some very biblical influences hah
@@smittycal I don't think theres much breaking down to do, it's pretty clear 😅
@@VadersRage Why would anyone want christian rock?
Lars was the first to go bald aye?
Same drummer. The only position that ever changed with Metallica was the Bass player. They have had 3 diff over the years and they got lucky 3 times in a row. All 3 were top shelf.
Not true....Mustain was replaced by Hammett
And ron mcgovney was the original bassist
Yes but the original lineup for the first album was without Mustaine and Mcgovney.
@@DM-rc4yu yeah but without Dave Mustaine we don't get some songs we got in Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning.
He is just young here. They’ve never changed the drummer.
Fun fact: The drums is the only instrument where the official band has never changed the player. Bass player has changed 3x, Guitar player 1x.
The army thought a mosh pit was a fight they were quickly corrected and then joined in.
Metallica the kings!!!!!!!!! I wish them to our rallies !!!Приезжайте в гости если любите мечтать!!!!!
They had to let people in that didn’t even have tickets because they were overwhelmed.
Security - aka the Soviet Army - weren't too concerned with moving people safely around lol
Everyone of them were in their late 20’s during this show. I know I wasn’t playing music for a crowd of 1.6 million people in my 20’s.
The Russian Military personnel had no idea what they were volunteered for and eventually just joined in with the crowd. For the song, "For Whom The Bell Tolls," James was working up the crowd chanting and then screams, "... way in the goddam back there where you can't even see us!"
That's when you know you have a big crowd...
This is the same concert as Pantera's Domination that you reacted to.
It's the pre-napster Lars Ulrich 😂
The drummer is Lars Ulrich, a founding member who is still in the band today.
And the member with the most gigs since he did miss only the Download 2004.
@@chupasaurus Kirk hasn't missed one day, ever.
@@tallycahamuhlhetru26 Mustaine played a few gigs before him
@@chupasaurus Huh?
@@tallycahamuhlhetru26 James and Lars are the only members of the band from start to finish, James missed quite a few gigs (check out the story about "no skateboarding" clause).
The Kings.
I love playing this song on guitar. So fun.
I recommend lyrics pulled up while you watch.
Same drummer! The legend that is Lars
1.5 million people in the audience man. Epic show brother!
Awesome journey into Metallica 🤘!! You should react to some of Metallica's country/blues/hard rock songs from the 1990s. Mama Said; The House Jack Built; Hero of The Day; Thorn Within; Poor Twisted Me; Wasting My Hate; Ronnie; Where The Wild Things Are; Low Man's Lyrics; Carpe Diem Baby; Devils Dance. The Load & Reload albums are definitely underrated. Great sample of their musical versatility outside of heavy metal/thrash!
The military wasn't beating people quite for dancing, but rather for moshing. They didn't exactly understand what a mosh pit was, and thought it was fights breaking out. So as a means to restore order, they bludgeoned them with their batons. At least, that's what I heard.
Hello, you funky bass player! 🤘😁
Thank you for not over pausing or Fast forwarding..
Tama Drums
Spector Bass with Ampeg SVT-II Pro head
ESP with Mesa Boogie
ESP with Randall
500,000 Russians screaming "DIE DIE DIE"
The most brutal sounds you will ever hear in your life.
This show was an add on for the Monsters of Rock tour and not part of the original tour cycle. This was an attempt to end the coup going on in the country; and this was the first time western music was allowed in the then collapsing Soviet regime. The military didn't know what to do because they have never seen that kind of release before.
LARS IS ON FIRE
There was only one time when Metallica had to play live with substitute drummers. It was due to Lars had some personal issues to settle. This happened during Donnington 2004 Live tour which Dave Lombardo (Slayer) and Joey Jordison (Slipknot) played drums for Metallica.
When JJ played Creeping Death. That version changed the whole dynamic of the song. It was much more hard hitting. Also, even though he was masked, JJ was living his childhood dream and says "I was grinning ear to ear the whole time. I was a kid again"
Best metal song of all time with blackened
for me
metallica is the best!💪love phil.🇵🇭
That song is about the story of Moses from the book of exodus found in the Holy Bible. Same drummer as always.
From exodus 's kirk riffs as well 😁
Same show as Pantera domination video, AC/DC was also on this show. Crowd size is a giant myth, it is closer to 500,000 not 1.6. This is one moth after a coupe attempt, and the Soviet Union broke up later in the year.
I don’t know about 1.6 mil but I can tell you I was at the US festival in 83 which was around 485k and that crowd was nowhere as big as this crowd
lol bs
It was 1.6mill.
You witnessed the one and only.
Lyrics: I read somewhere this song is about the life of Moses and the "creeping death" is the plague inflicted on the Egyptians.
Great reaction!🎸🤘🎸🤘
Saúde aí mano 🤘🏿🙏🏿
Happy Easter Mike! 🐣
Your intro is amazing
Yeah you can see the army getting busy with the crowd in the song Harvester of Sorrow from the show
Beat a few people to death.
@@hughjoelcock7145 "a few" translated to like several dozen lmao
XMorbidReignX I only said that because I know there had to be some fights between civilians that drove those numbers up, and also there were some rapes. So.
@@hughjoelcock7145 Lol again "some" The numbers I saw were something in the neighbourhood of 200 dead by being beaten to death, shot or crushed by the crowds. For sure the rape was like in the 20s
XMorbidReignX I also feel like “some” is an okay descriptor when you’re comparing 200 to 1.6 million
Same drummer dude
Try watching For Whome The Bell Tolls live (Big Day Out Festival, Sydney Australia)
he sounds like another drummer, but he's the same. Now he doesn't give half a fuck, back then he was in it.
Same drummer bro. ❤️🇦🇺
1.6 million people at that concert
1.6million they played to....holy shit balls
good reactions man, can you react to Sonata arctica - don't say a word
Same drummer (Lars) but different bassist. They started with the one and only Cliff Burton hower he passed away. So they recruited Jason Newsted which you see here.
Long live Kirky baby
My girlfriend who lived in Battlecreek, Mich where he is from, her mom knew him for years before Metallica came calling...Yes, she knew early he was going to be big one day. I beg to differ on the voice aspect thou, I've seen these guys 14 times in concert and NO ONE could touch Cliff on bass... CLIFF EM' ALL!!!
This was 3 months before the end of the USSR. This was September 1991. Gorbachev lowered the hammer & sickle flag from the Kremlin for the last time December 25, 1991 & replaced it with the 3 color flag. This was the 1st western culture event in Russia in 5 years. 'For Those About To Rock: Monsters In Moscow' as part of the Monsters of Rock Tour. Artists were: Metallica, Pantera, AC/DC, The Black Crowes & E.S.T.. The military were going to cancel the show almost right before people started showing up. But for fear of revolt, they didn't. They expected 500,000. It was estimated at 1.6million. Crowd Scan had since tried to do an accurate count using video footage. They settled on 1.6million but said it was most likely a little more than that.
1.6 Million people....and this is only 3rd on the all time list of crowds at an open air concert. #1 is Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a crowd of 3.5 Million in 1994. #2 was Jean Michel Jarre in 1997 also in Russia, like that Metallica show, with 3.5 Million.
Sadly, 53 people died that day. Most, they said, were from drug overdoses.
No soldiers were beating anyone. As you could see, everyone was jumping up and down. Including soldiers.
Same drummer just a lot younger
Same drummer
1.6 million people in Russia... And no , that is Lars Ulrich on drum... His smashing on his feet is blatantly clear....he is a lighting god on drums! As I said in response to another comment, Yeah, if Cliff Burton were on bass.... Sweet Jesus! He UTERLY DESTROYS!! CLIFF EM' ALL!!
To this day people are still trying to get out of the parking lot
This is the story of passover.
best part so far: the ~2 million people aren't phasing you as a "crowd."
👌👍❤️🍺🤟
You should react to Metallica live from Antarctica
Cliff Burton was the best bassist.
Drummer is the same through the all the existence of Metallica :)
Security? xD its the Army! xDDD
If you want to listen to some crazy metal check out psychosocial by slipknot
They stopped counting the attendance at about 1.6 million people.
@@ianwakers haha AC/DC is awesome. But the crowd was already over 1 m when Metallica and Pantera hit the stage. Don’t mess with my Metallica knowledge. 🤘
Metallica G.O.A.T
Same drummer. Can never change it. Obviously there are better drummers but he's a writer ,how can you change that ?
Security tried to control it then joined in.
Please react RAP MONSTER
VOCAL ROSY SNAP
FROM INDONESIA
Lars basically owns the band, he created it so it’s sorta like, without him it’s not really Metallica. Basically if James and Lars left it’s not Metallica
James created and runs Metallica.
@@shaneferris6742 Nah, it's Lars :D
The main reason he wasn’t fired
The drummer is the same... The difference is that In 91 Lars still played drums
Reactin megadeth liar
Est 1.5 million ppl but reports say or 2million
The song is about the Hebrew Passover while they were slaves in Egypt
Neither will his head banging, always in tune with the song
The intros keep getting cringier and cringier, but i still love your vids lol
Lars for sure
danish drummer "dansk viking"
Same drummer...that’s a young Lars Ulrich
Lonely audience uncle🤭 You only belong to the Indonesian people😀
Oh that was funny that you said security got to keep these people in check you obviously don't know anything about this concert this was not security this was the Russian Military🤣 when this concert was allowed to happen in Russia it was huge for the people of Russia the Russian government had never allowed for rock concerts especially American rock concerts so this was huge for the them to have Metallica play🤘🖤 that's why the level of energy was amazing from the crowd they were so thankful to have Metallica playing for them people there love this band. The simple freedoms that we take for granted we can choose to listen in and go see concerts of our choice that unfortunately is in the case in dictatorship countries. And those helicopters that you see flying over the crowd that's military helicopters hovering over over the entire crowd as Metallica is playing
Same drummer. Lars Ulrich. As far as security just ask the Soviet Army.
A lit have happened for 30 years when it comes to age. Lars i still the drummer, yet he lost most of his hair.
When you play to the end of communism for The Soviet Union!!💪🔥🤘😈🤘
Nope, that's Lars.
Before they became sell outs. Haven't been worth a pinch of salt since, 'And justice for all".
Your comment makes no sense. First sentence you say this video was b4 they became sellouts and havent been good since justice but this was two years after justice lollol
I'm talking about albums, not performances.
garbage take good job
