We can see that you've done a very good job, resuming a theme as complex as the French Revolution in some minutes it's really gard but you did it ! Great video ! We can see that you work your subjects, and further more it must take a long time to draw all those characters ! you won one subscriber. If you're doing that on your own, you really have talent.

Watch this a few times and then read those books is I think the perfect combination.

    Your claim that enlightenment thinkers questioned faith and imputed a secular government is quite suspect. First, the majority of enlightenment thinkers were devoutly religious (Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton, Renee Descartes, Kant, Galileo, Kepler, Kierkegaard etc...). Bacon who originally formulated the scientific method did not to so to offer some kind of alternative to God but a way in which to accurately study God's creation. This attitude was prevalent over much of enlightenment thinking.
    Secondly, the formation of a democratic style of government implemented in France and the U.S. was directly tied to the concept that human rights originated from God (you find this explicitly stated in the declaration of independence). While the religion = evil monarch and democracy = secular progress narrative is popular it isn't actually reflective of what went on historically.
    Still a great video! I enjoyed it!

      of course yea, the "who is this god person anyway?" bit was just a little douglas adams reference! :D I think the reign of terror is a prime example of extreme secularism gone waaaaay too far. I'm not anti-religion, I'm anti-killing-in-the-name-of-something!

    It sounds like the US was a little ungrateful to France after helping in the independence.
    It also seems these wars is why France lost in the world wars. It didn't want more to do with these wars and BS.
    I have a little more respect for France now.

    • @JohnDRuddyMannyMan
      @JohnDRuddyMannyMan  5 років тому +10

      Daniel Hernández there was a big debate in USA whether or not to help Revolutionary France. One one hand, it was the old royal regime which helped the States in their independence, so the likes of John Adams thought it wouldn't be right to help their enemies. The likes of Thomas Jefferson wanted to help the revolutionaries because they were fighting for a New republic just like the States had done.

      @Daniel Hernandez France didn’t like england. France never did it out of love for US Revolution. France didn’t want to help at first. They helped the US Revolution until they were sure the war was going to be won...they came at the end!!

      B Wong 1) If you watch the ENTIRE video it's 10:16.
      2) 9:50 is not 9:00.

      But the point here is that the 'history lesson' ended within 9 minutes. "The French Revolution in 9 Minutes". The title is not misleading, as this person explained the French Revolution within 9 minutes.
      I'm not talking about the video length, just the length this person was talking about the French Revolution.
      There you have it.

    French were and still are insane! Our beloved President John Adams simplified the French Revolution like this: Monarchy, into anarchy and back to monarchy!" French tend to be proud of the French Revolution but there isn't a damn thing to be proud of!

    • @Luboman411
      @Luboman411 8 років тому +17

      Rage Blanket That's one of the silliest things I've ever heard about the French Revolution. The French Revolution spread the ideas of anti-monarchism, democracy and equality before the law to all the nations of Europe. It spread these revolutionary ideas to Latin America when Napoleon (who was a product of the French Revolution; Napoleon would not have happened without the French Revolution) conquered Spain and Portugal and the Latin American colonies rebelled, using the very same ideas espoused by the French revolutionaries to start their own revolutions. The slaves of St. Domingue, France's richest sugar colony, were directly inspired by the French Revolution and started the biggest and most successful slave uprising in human history, creating the new nation of Haiti. The Code Napoleon is the basis for civil law systems throughout the world, and this Code enshrined most of the ideas of the French Revolution. And on and on and on. The French Revolution shook the world, and was far more influential than any other revolution, including the American one.

      Rage Blanket that's a dumb comment, the French Revolution changed France, Europe and the World for ever. That thing you're saying is what the North Korean government tells to its people to not get it revolting, but it's absolutely false
