I'm more of a JZ guy so Trolvo appeals to me more, but I really really like the DIY left-of-center L67 videos you've made with the Supermang. Not everyone can afford a JZ, Barra Turbo or worked LS. I really enjoyed seeing you play around with the blowers to get the most out of them. Long live the VN and keen to see where it goes next.
compound done right is very complicated, both need to be intercooled, running hot into hotter = super heated and is begging for massive problems, don't believe me? go watch Gale Banks from Banks Power.....
@Rhys Kirkham not if you feed it 10lb prior to the inlet via a compund setup. You massively increase the efficiency by feeding it already compressed (and intercooled) air from a turbo. A better blower would be better, but an ebay gt35 feeding the m90 would be plenty.
I reckon you should put the built 4.2 in it with the bigger blower and a water-to air sandwich plate. Get rid of all the charge piping, just fit another radiator up front.
As Kenny Rogers once said, you got to know when to walk away. Now we can't fault you for giving it one heck of a try, but you're right. It's time for the next version of Supermang. 👌👌
Hi Scotty, pro tip when porting aluminium use wd-40 it will stop the tool clogging, use on the job and tool. Hope this helps you out. Keep up the great work and content.
Always enjoy the supermang videos I reckon that horrible barrel cooler is holding things back interested to see how the 4.2 goes a friends vx l67 makes 240rwkw with the baby m90 which we are going to swap into a vs and jump up in blower size
I reckon turbo the current 3.8. Get some exhaust manifolds etc from Corn Fed Boost and fabricate your own cooler and piping. Build the 4.2 after the current motor expires
Gotta say I'm with you on the 4.2 with the turbo, especially now that the 3800 is sounding a bit rattly and with no idea what the oil pressure has been doing on all its runs. Do you really want to start chasing noises and potentially tearing it down at this point, especially when the stroker is there? Either that or move the car on :(
The thing about throttle bodies is that once they flow enough air to make as much power as the engine will, going bigger just reduces driveability. Remember the kind of power people used to push through XF Falcon 68mm throttle bodies? There used to be "big power" VL turbos making 450-500 wheel horsepower through those things!
Hey Scotty, just my 2c mate....I'd monitor incoming and outgoing temps on the chiller tank, intercooler and barrel cooler, you may have run into a thermal bottleneck, there's the possibility the pump may be moving to much or not enough fluid around to keep things in check, especially when the engine is heat soaked/ loaded up. I'd also check the pressure differential or temps either side of the barrel cooler at max boost to see if that cooler is actually becoming a restriction, increasing back pressure and intake temps. Keep up the great work mate, Cheers🍻
That beast has come a long way Scotty. Time for the next stage. Btw. When you put that modded cooling plate on, I thought, that's going to hit the bonnet. And I was right. Nice try, better luck next time.
People might keep bitching bout this thing but I think it’s great everything you are doing because you are showing everyone what works and what doesn’t, I see the bonnet is red now also. Keep up the great work Scotty 👍
Hi Scotty thanks for the updates and good clips Time to give up on the supercharger Go the big bore turbo Ultimately your plan for the beginning Great effort as usual
Hell yeah Scotty!! 4-2 ltr with a decent turbo sounds like a great idea. I've seen a 4-2 ltr stroker with a small turbo pump out 440 rwhp so build it and send it... 😊
This has been a great build Scotty, loved it, and I really do love the supercharge aspect. But are we getting close to diminishing gains? Need more intercoioler, more this, more that. The 253 V6 with a whirly woo and a sniff of giggle will probably jump you straight into the 10's and transform the experience.
Hey Scotty! Awesome work so far, I would throw a turbo at her for sure. Just gut the blower housing and plump a rear-mount to it. Richard Holdner has run 600hp+ using a similar setup on a 3.8L - I wouldn't worry about the stroker combo. Use the boost to mimic the 4.2 and let her do what she does. Cheers mate!
I think you have shown us that good little budget build L67 combo and that it is completely reasonable for what you have done to it. But I do believe it is time to move forward with a turbo stroke engine and then it can truly be Supermang. Let's see this move forward Scotty.
Scotty... If you want the bonnet to clear a bit better you can always get some 10mm aluminium tube and cut 4 peices 30-40mm long, get some longer bonnet bolts and use the tubes as spacers. It looks good one some cars, saves you having to cut things, allows you to see inside the engine bay from the car just incase a coolant hose goes etc, and it promotes airflow from under the car past the engine.
As much as I’ve enjoyed the “Scotty battles the charger” exploits. I think it’s time to evaluate the effort vs results. And honestly, at this point in time, it’s a loss. Time to learn about strokers and turbo’s Love your work Scotty
Definitely seems like you have reached the maximum hp of this combo. I wonder if using a different supercharger/intercooler setup would help.. A turbo 3.8 will always see higher hp, but supercharging the 3.8 to its maximum potential is very interesting.
I used to have a VY2 Ecotec with a Raptor charger that made 235rwkw, and so I have some experience with this. I'd go straight for the 4.2L stroker and turbo it if I could do it again. The engine was solid as a rock, but trying to get even mild barra power out of it was like pulling teeth. And then when you did, all the accessories and everything would fail constantly. It never just worked properly. With a stroker V6 and nice strong bits around it, the car will be properly quick and even semi-reliable. Just watch out for little things like the belt tensioner and tailshaft etc....that was the biggest bummer with the L67/L36 for me
Superchargers tend to create shitloads of heat in the charge air, robbing you of air density (defeating much of the benefit of the boost), and ideally you want as much as possible of the air mass supplied via density rather than pressure. Intake manifold mount superchargers tend to have limited options for intercoolers (especially without chopping the hood), so you might want to look at a centrifugal supercharger that you can run through a large front mount intercooler.
That manifold is the restriction, the cross sectional area of the manifold under the blower outlet is too small, add a parabolic spacer in between the blower and manifold and it will pick up power and reduce some intake temp as well 👍
Before ditching it and going the bigger combo give her a spray and see what she does Scotty you might be surprised. It'll be a fun and dignified way to wrap up that combo with a win.
Ditch that tiny barrel cooler and add a larger a2w plate. Port the rest of the blower, manifold and A2a plate and it will pick up quite alot. Those are your restrictions at the moment. Have a chat with brushworks slick sixes, m90s have hit well over 400rwhp
My l67 is making 220ish rwkw on standard heads and cam with a front mount A2a, high ratio rockers and a 2.7"pulley on the blower. So there's plenty more left in your setup
As cool as it would be to see what the stroker + blower could do, there is no point wasting so much time and money on a temporary setup. If you know you want to go turbo eventually then just send it from the get-go. -- From a guy that suggested a turbo starfire for the torana
Yes, yes, yes. You’ve teased us long enough. It’s 4.2 turbo time. BTW, I’m guessing that it’d be too much to ask for you to go the full, “Cleetus spec”, and hang the turbo above the bonnet?
I like that you had a real go at the blower, but yeah ... Turbo is always going to be the answer, unless the big blower takes it as far as you want it to go.
Its not easy to make power with the m90 anything north of 220rwkw needs alot of work. Your current issue imo is intercooler. Its not effcient and is prob a restriction. I was making 220rwkw without cooler with a 2.55" pulley. Change the ic run a 2.42 pulley . Then yes go 4.2 and turbo its easy power. With the right turbo you will make 500rwhp+ no problem.
keen to see the stroker and turbo setup...I have plans to do the same to a vs wagon so 100% stroker and turbo gets my vote.. points for effort on this combo..
I will admit, it sounded the best in your workshop. I am guessing before it got all toasty warm. I can't find any reason not to think you are on the right track with a stroked turbo.. Maybe those burnouts hurt more than you thought. Whatever you chose there will be a diehard group watching. Keep up the great work.
17:00 time to invest in a bead-roller! It looks like the pipe is too short and naturally wants to sit where it is disconnected. Might be able to trim some from the icebox side?
That style intercooler is a restriction and doesn’t have the surface area you need. Get a w2a core with larger surface area, put some v band clamps and get rid of the silicone joiners. Also us guys who have ported the blower inlets port all the way up to the rotors and a fair bit of meat can come out opening the area to the rotors up a lot. If you can get the intake air temps under control you’ll see more boost and better hp. 300rwhp is easy to make on these motors with the correct cam choice. You’re running a small cam in the scheme of what is on the market. Look at the specs of Intense racing stage 4 blower camshaft, or the brushworks camshaft and compare 👍🏻 The 3.8 Bottom ends are stronger than the 4.2’s. all the turbo ecotecs with big hp are all 3.8 not stroked as the cranks just aren’t as strong.
Lets face facts, the L67 was never a powerhouse at all. It's biggest problem is heat from running the hell out of the small charger. Ditch the L67 totally and put the 6.4 Hemi engine in it and make some decent power.
Lmao at that intake elbow being too tall - why did you not check before you got it welded? I love that "NAWSS" sticker on the throttlebody - only problem is it doesn't stand for "Nitrous Oxide Systems", it stands for "New Old Stock" - i.e. all the parts you're going to have to put in this once Bubba secretly slips a 250 hp jet into the fogger...
I’d say try porting the supercharger underneath it and the intercooler plate to because you have a bigger intake but the supercharger can only still push in the same amount of air through its little triangle hole MACE do it. And maybe a air to air intercooler and see how that goes plus will be lighter with no ice in the back. Then I’d say go 4.2 with this set up then turbo it after 😉
4.2 litre with bigger blower Scott. Going the 4.2litre with turbo we all know you will get the power easy. Do the supercharger for the boys that have them.
I reckon 4.2 with bigger blower. Great effort so far Scotty, but definitely got to stick with the supercharger and 4.2 stroker. Every man and their dog has a turbo these days
4.2 turbo. Super chargers on v6s don’t go well and heat kills them. I’ve gone turbo on my PRV V6 ENGINE and got an extra 100hp. Blowers are good for low torque. You’ve got the ecu just do it Scotty TURBO 4.2 SEND ITTT!! 🤘🏻😜👌🏻👍🏻🤙🏻
Give the current setup one more episode and do it right. Port the blower more fit a larger cooler that one is too restrictive and try the party pulley. Then drop in the 4.2 I'm happy to offer some support for one more episode
I wouldn't mind seeing supermang with a 4.2 and turbskie mate. Although I will miss the sound of that little blower whining. Great content as always Scotty
I was just thinking out loud, 4.2 TURBO! And then you said the same thing. Try to keep it simple and get it done quicker & cheaper. With idea's to make improvements along the way. You can do it.
I think you found the limitations of the intercooler, not the supercharger, would have loved to see FMIC difference, but if its rattling already, I'm on board with a 4.2 E85 turbo, or to be wild, twincharged.
Scotty don't give up hope!! you've worked so hard to get there , send it with a 100 shot of nitrous! Look up RAPPOS RACING (youtube) he ran 10s with a l67 with less mods than what you have . I really think you can get a 10 sec with this combo ! At least give nitrous a shot before taking everything appart
It would be interesting to see what the current set up would run with the shot of Nitrous you were hoping to add. It would also be good to see how much of a jump in performance the current supercharger set up on the stroker engine would deliver.
@@STREETMACHINETV :) I decided i should have some fun with a budget build myself instead of waiting for the day. if ever that I finish my HQ. So have bought a 150 shot to go onto a stock VR V6 " but will make some upgrades before hitting it with that to at least give it a chance of staying together. look forward to the next episode of Supermang.
Leave the aluminium clogged bit in a strong draino (caustic soda) and water mixture over night and it’ll cleans it.. FYI, it’s clogging because you’re getting it too hot, don’t push so hard and cool the bit with water.
When you see the inlet air charge hoses being sucked in you know that the supercharger is a restriction not a power adder. The engine is screaming for more air. I have an L67 with the M90 blower and appreciate the purity but that's all it has going for it.
I can't quite remember now but has the blower been ported? from all accounts and different data i've seen that makes a decent difference to the efficiency and intake temps. Mace do some really good stuff on both inlet and outlet, even just removing the lugs in the front corners is supposed to help. Would be interesting to see a full comparison run with before and after as it is withe the big elbow and throttle body. not only to see what changes it really can make but i also have selfish reasons as I'm putting an M90 on my 3.6L v6 Jeep 😄
Be interesting to see what an Eaton M112 and Eaton M122 supercharger will do on the L67, the limitation with these things is the Eaton M90 hairdryer they fitted from the factory
Producers - This guy is special. there is something about him which makes me watch him religiously. I can tell that his teeth makes him loose self confidence. Please rectify this and the channel will explode.
Time for turbo and stroker motor ❤
There are even people that don't want a "JZ, Barra Turbo or worked LS" even if they can afford them 😱🤯
You've done a great job squeezing everything out of this combo, Scotty! 4.2L and turbo time, FOR SURE!! 🙂
4.2 COMPOUND SETUP SCOTTY! Oversized turbo running about 10lb into the blower, making it way more efficient. You know you want to...
compound done right is very complicated, both need to be intercooled, running hot into hotter = super heated and is begging for massive problems, don't believe me? go watch Gale Banks from Banks Power.....
Interesting. Don't think Scotty's done a twin charge setup. Be good for something new
You do understand how volumetric efficiency works yeah ? Fuck that blower off all together and run the turbo
M90 Becomes a restriction around 400hp
Waste of time and money
@Rhys Kirkham not if you feed it 10lb prior to the inlet via a compund setup. You massively increase the efficiency by feeding it already compressed (and intercooled) air from a turbo. A better blower would be better, but an ebay gt35 feeding the m90 would be plenty.

I think a 4.2 turbo would be awesome
Does Scotty know when it's time to run, he can always count the psi when the timeslips are done.
Hi Scotty, pro tip when porting aluminium use wd-40 it will stop the tool clogging, use on the job and tool. Hope this helps you out. Keep up the great work and content.
love that you post your fails gives hope to us backyard hacks
Always enjoy the supermang videos I reckon that horrible barrel cooler is holding things back interested to see how the 4.2 goes a friends vx l67 makes 240rwkw with the baby m90 which we are going to swap into a vs and jump up in blower size
Yep been saying for months the barrel cooler is a restriction and doesnt have enough surface area to keep temps down
I reckon turbo the current 3.8.
Either that or move the car on :(
NOS on this setup first !! Then the turbo it, then 4.2. I enjoy watching the progression and seeing the comparisons.
17:50 so the VN is starting to sound like a proper VN? Rattly! 😂
Good on ya Scotty keep up with the great content!
4.2 Turbo. Send it!! I watch all the content, no matter the car, so if it keeps you busy and I watch you more, the better. Love ya work Scotty.
4.2 turbo Scotty, this is why a lot of us got to a point on the l67 keeping it cool and running quick… I threw mine in the bin and went ls
The thing about throttle bodies is that once they flow enough air to make as much power as the engine will, going bigger just reduces driveability. #timeforaturbo, they made the gnx turbo for a reason👌 as much as I love the blower a 4.2 stroker would just be the icing on the cake
Another quality GM product people!
Hi Scotty thanks for the updates and good clips
Time to give up on the supercharger
Go the big bore turbo
Ultimately your plan for the beginning
Great effort as usual
Hell yeah Scotty!!
4-2 ltr with a decent turbo sounds like a great idea. I've seen a 4-2 ltr stroker with a small turbo pump out 440 rwhp so build it and send it... 😊

hot tip for you Scotty. when porting aluminium, dip the burr in ATF and they don't gum up.
Is it time for a turbo 🤷♂️
Yes 🙌
Great video like always Scotty.
Protip. Stuff what you are porting with rags! Saves getting shavings on the inside.
Yeah, I put two rags in there
@@STREETMACHINETV must of missed that part. 🤔🤫
@Deviouss it shows me pulling one out, but I had two in there

It’s not the max at all as others have made between 400 and 500hp at the wheels still with the little m90 blower. The record being 501rwhp.
@John Mathews what do you think is stopping it going another 100 to 200 hp?
I used to have a VY2 Ecotec with a Raptor charger that made 235rwkw, and so I have some experience with this. I'd go straight for the 4.2L stroker and turbo it if I could do it again. Yep 4.2 and turbo! You’ve done a great job so far. Time to move it on
definitely better to change it before it blows up also :) definitely was a good street combo though.
Yes do the 4.2 turbo, can’t wait to see that.
hey Scotty. 4.2 turbo. go with ya gut. love the channel.
Before ditching it and going the bigger combo give her a spray and see what she does Scotty you might be surprised. It'll be a fun and dignified way to wrap up that combo with a win.
I think we might
Yesss spray spray spray spray 😂
Ps that intake combo has to be forcing that engine to breath through a straw
But yeah spray spray spray 😂
Ditch that tiny barrel cooler and add a larger a2w plate. Port the rest of the blower, manifold and A2a plate and it will pick up quite alot. Those are your restrictions at the moment. Have a chat with brushworks slick sixes, m90s have hit well over 400rwhp

4.2 bigger blower , nitrous. Then big rear mount turbo compound supercharged. 😁 Keep it interesting.
Yeah mate time for the turbo stroker 😁👍

keen to see the stroker and turbo setup...I have plans to do the same to a vs wagon so 100% stroker and turbo gets my vote..
points for effort on this combo..
She's done well Scotty and so have you. Like you said tho 4.2 and a turbo is sounding very nice 👍
Yep agree Scotty .... 4.2 stroker and turbo .....👍
Totally agree, I was thinking turbo turbo turbo in my head then you said it. 😂
17:00 time to invest in a bead-roller! It looks like the pipe is too short and naturally wants to sit where it is disconnected. Might be able to trim some from the icebox side?

The 3.8 Bottom ends are stronger than the 4.2’s. all the turbo ecotecs with big hp are all 3.8 not stroked as the cranks just aren’t as strong.
That depends on the crank. The current record holder has a 4.2.
It isnt mace junk tho.
Stroker turbo for super mang 💯
I remember first time I ever seen one of your vids was the v6 performance tips video way back
Brilliant idea 4 .2 turbo 😁🇭🇲
Compound 4.2Lt so much torque and so many horse powers!
Lets face facts, the L67 was never a powerhouse at all. It's biggest problem is heat from running the hell out of the small charger.
Ditch the L67 totally and put the 6.4 Hemi engine in it and make some decent power.
For sure stroker and turbo let's goooooo
Finally turbo time 👍 500hp is a starting point these days.
Ah off to the scrap heap for this combo and on to the 4.2 turbo. then the VN can have you smiling.
Procharger upgrade time, stroker and nos.. We watch cause you're different Scotty, everyone turbos
Yep 253 cubic inch V6 Twin Turbski for sure sorry I'm late Scotty 👍🍻
4.2 turbo and fuggen send it ☝🏻Scotty!
4.2 Scotty go for it!😊
🔥🔥 nice lets go super mang
TURBO TURBO TURBO !!!!!!! 👌🏻💯😎

Morning coffee and some super mang Friday morning done right
TURBO WAY TO GO LETS GO
SuperMang - Nah! Stroked TurboMang - Yeah!
Oh, was surprised you didn't somehow use the shifter in the firewall modifications, aha.
Maybe that 6.4 hemi should drop into the VN 😊
Time for the 4.2 stroker 👌🏽👌🏽
Then drop in the 4.2
I'm happy to offer some support for one more episode
I wouldn't mind seeing supermang with a 4.2 and turbskie mate. Although I will miss the sound of that little blower whining. Great content as always Scotty
Fabricate some small plates to space up the rear of the bonnet to clear the pipe with stock hood
Nah, now I have time. I'll just fix the pipe
Ditch that intake heater/blower. Convert to turbo, either with existing block or striker block. Do a test with both even.
4.2 Turbo for sure!
Definitely 4.2lt intercooler Turbo. 💯
I agree with you, put a TD42 in it 👍
Haha
4.2L Turbo sound like just what the doctor ordered
I was just thinking out loud, 4.2 TURBO! And then you said the same thing. Try to keep it simple and get it done quicker & cheaper. With idea's to make improvements along the way. You can do it.

Yep, can only flow so much
It's possible
4.2 turbo muddafakka! Do it, dooooooeeeeeet! ❤
More compression make a difference, but he has done well
4.2 and turbo 💪
It would be interesting to see what the current set up would run with the shot of Nitrous you were hoping to add. It would also be good to see how much of a jump in performance the current supercharger set up on the stroker engine would deliver.
Yeah, I think I'll do that, then switch over
@@STREETMACHINETV :) I decided i should have some fun with a budget build myself instead of waiting for the day. if ever that I finish my HQ.
It only sucked in when it drawing vacuum
I can't quite remember now but has the blower been ported? from all accounts and different data i've seen that makes a decent difference to the efficiency and intake temps.
Mace do some really good stuff on both inlet and outlet, even just removing the lugs in the front corners is supposed to help.
Would be interesting to see a full comparison run with before and after as it is withe the big elbow and throttle body. not only to see what changes it really can make but i also have selfish reasons as I'm putting an M90 on my 3.6L v6 Jeep 😄
4.2 stroker and turbo 100% that will be killer
Be interesting to see what an Eaton M112 and Eaton M122 supercharger will do on the L67, the limitation with these things is the Eaton M90 hairdryer they fitted from the factory
Producers - This guy is special. there is something about him which makes me watch him religiously. I can tell that his teeth makes him loose self confidence. Please rectify this and the channel will explode.
great video scotty... but its 4.2 turbo time for SUPERMANG... but that's just my 2 cents worth...
4.2 and turbo in the Torana!
Yep 4.2 and turbo 🤟
