    Excellent work and it looks like it came out perfect. You made a slight mistake in your explanation, at 5:01 you said you will get ".34 cubic feet per bag" as you rolled over the ".43 cubic feet per bag" text, but all you have to do is read the website and make your calculations so no harm, so foul! I did want to ask, I saw you polished the entire surface before covering with the sealer and polish, did you polish out the back corner by hand or was it not noticeable? The only way you could make a better video is if you didn't say "Um" so much because you say "Um" a lot!

    • @amcustomfab
      @amcustomfab  5 років тому +1

      Haha definitely giltey of the "Um" ,I did not realize that I said the wrong qf for the bag thank you. And as for the I used a foam Dimond sand pad and did it by hand not as perfect as the rest of the counter but still seal able . Thanks for the constructive criticism I really appreciate it 👊🤘☺

    Great job. I really like white cement. My only 'trouble ahead' was when you did not install a backer piece below the outlet. I suppose there is a reason the manufacturer sells them...and it appears to keep the cement from touching your wall. Anyway--well done!

    AM Custom fab: or anyone else that might have any input:
    Hi there, Counter looks Great! I just ordered the White Counter Mix a couple days ago. Just waiting for shipping so i can attempt to do ours..... How is it holding up to stains? Has there been any cracking, or have you had any other problems or concerns to date? Anything you would have or should have done differently if you were to do it over again?
    When i spoke to Tom at Z Counterform. He recommended a Lexan Trowel if we were planning on keeping it white. Don't know if that is totally necessary? But i figured why not?
    I thought he also told me to just use 120 & 220 grit sand paper? Maybe i misunderstood him? Is Diamond Grinding Always needed? Or does it depend on how smooth the finish comes out after using finish trowel? I install Commercial Flooring for a living, and trowel finish allot of different cement underlayment products prior to installing various floorings.
    I have never done a counter or concrete polishing..
    Thanks for any input

      Laminate or Formica ranged between $1400-1900 without instal
      Quran was $2,500 installed on sale $40 sq ft retail $60 sq ft
      Granite ranged $50-100+ a sq ft
      This stuff all in including the concrete mix, edges, everything he got for his was around $600-700. About $15-25 sq ft. Sooo much cheaper. And with this you can lay in anything you want. Make it look like marble, add stained wood, you name it.

      @amcustomfab  3 роки тому

      Yes I misread the website if you buy their white concrete it already has the additive in it there additive is for making a standard bag of concrete in to countertop grade concrete.so if you seen in the video I accidentally mixed a bag of additive with their white concrete on the very first batch and then once I realized what I did I just use the white concrete after that

      @amcustomfab  3 роки тому +1

      Correct just use the white bags and we put one white dye pack per bag of concrete. They have been holding up great we've really enjoyed them we reseal them about every six to eight months with one more coat of the shine coating it's real quick pull everything off the counters roll it out let it dry for an hour and then you're good to go only thing we have had happen was we dropped a pan on one of the corners and chipped it just a little bit but besides that we're loving them

    This looks really good, I often wonder why we find it necessary to put more reinforcement in to these countertops. Especially when using fiberglass in the mix. Just seems like overkill when we think about the actual wear a countertop will take. I've poured a few and always put mesh in, but I think I am going to experiment on my own house and try without mesh to see if it matters at all...
    I suspect it won't.

    I have been watching a bunch of videos to try and figure out how to do this, and yours has been the best! It seems like buying the legit concrete from z counter form is the way to go. It looks like it flows better than mixing it with something from the store.

      Holding up really good no stains we reseal them about every nine months but that only takes a couple minutes to do and then you have to let him drive for an hour or two. My only regret is with the square edge that I didn't round it over a little more because having a sharp edge on the top where pots and pans can hit we have acquired the some small chips on the corners here and there but nothing catastrophic

    We're planning on using your video in our home to do exactly this. We have pretty much zero tools and this will be my first DIY in our home. Would you say even with zero experience this is definitely doable and will come out?
    Also, you mentioned at one point you messed with the color a little bit? If I was wanting stark-white tops what is that process?
    Also! I know concrete needs to be resealed to maintain it, how often and how do you know when it needs to be resealed?

    • @amcustomfab
      @amcustomfab  5 років тому +5

      If you have zero experience with concrete I would highly recommend trying a smaller project first like a coffee table or bed stand / in table 2 learn on and feel out if you are comfortable doing it. If you do commit to doing the kitchen you will definitely want three people minimum there to help. As far as the white goes see countertops has their Altra white dye packs which we used to help us make it whiter. As far as ceiling goes I would recommend every 9 to 12 months we just recently did just the spot where we use the countertop to most often and it's a very quick process took 15 minutes to apply sealer let it dry for 2 hours before we use the counters again and was good to go. Thanks for watching the video hope your project goes well !!

    • @amcustomfab
      @amcustomfab  5 років тому +2

      Olga Mejia they where not hollow so I just ground them flat the reason they appeared is because I had very little concrete experience and I overworked it during the finishing process I would recommend watching some videos on how to finish before you take on the project to avoid this
