Let’s be honest, no one but Kendrick fans are mentioning Control. The rest of rap moved on after a year. Just off the past few days I’m wondering if that’s the only thing they can hang onto when no one wants to really deal with making a response to him when he disses. It’s a losing battle, Dot fans will say the response was mid/trash, other rapper’s fans will say it’s a hit, general public will still be hung on the original diss from Kendrick and eventually file into their respective sides.
I like Kendrick’s music, just tired of seeing the same thing every 2.5 years.

The thing about Kendrick…he doesn’t HAVE to put out an album every year like everyone else. It has obviously been proven that he can go away for years, come back and still make HUGE waves and cultural impact that LASTS. Drake is the most mainstream, but a lot of his newer songs are “here today and gone tomorrow.” He doesn’t often make timeless hits in the same way Kendrick does. It is what it is. All of Kendricks albumsI can listen to straight through no skips, the same does not go for Drake. You’re right about Kendrick being right. I might be a little upset too if I was him.

For that to be true, the Control verse would have had to have been a diss and it wasn't. I don't think Kendrick has to be on some "fuck you nigga" type energy in person in order for him to say that he wants to be better than everyone else.

Kendrick was on a mission to educate and save the world through his music with songs like U, UNTITLED 01,SING ABOUT ME, DOLLAR COST ETC at least till Mr.Morale where he admits he is no longer the *Saviour*, only for the other two to make songs that truly do not amount to anything holistically and innovative IMO especially with Drake for the most part.

He’s pushing the envelope & carrying mainstream Rap on his back, tryna keep it alive & well by making the most thoughtful, powerful music possible all the while bearing his soul through it all just to have a dude like Drake who’s made a mockery of the genre & Cole who he’s simply better than get celebrated while he gets heat & ridiculed & doubted.

  • @alexisaguirrevideos
    @alexisaguirrevideos 5 місяців тому +11

KENDRICK REALLY GOT THAT MF DOG IN HIM.
Anyone who thinks otherwise should go back to Good Kid, Maad City and listen to Kendrick tell his story.
Kendrick has so much integrity. You can tell that he stands for something in life beyond the music. Something bigger than vapid fame and glory. That’s the difference between Kendrick and Drake.
Drake still figuring and finding himself in life. Kendrick’s environment as a kid forced him to grow up and mature quick. And it’s fine that Drake is still finding himself, everyone matures at different rates, but when you’re a rapper as big as him and essentially get called out on it, it’s gonna hurt.
The truth hurts, but it’s necessary to grow. So I think Kendrick is actually doing Drake a favor by bringing this to his doorstep.
Cole & Kendrick definitely respect each other because they both share this similar outlook on life. Maturity, spirituality, building a closer relationship with God. These are a few common threads that sow Kendrick and Cole’s ideologies together. Cole just had to catch a stray because rap’s competitive spirit is about obliterating your competition.

I love this verse and this album so much (We Don’t Trust You), because it feels like it breathed life back into hiphop. The energy shifted, it feels like every artist now feels the need to step it up. They see what’s going on and say to themselves, “damn, well if Drake can get hit, no one untouchable.” And that’s exactly what rappers needed. Rap was getting too comfortable. Everyone was getting too confident. No one had anything to prove, and it was resulting in stale music and energy in the genre.
That’s why the girls been holding shit down cuz they the only one who actually got something to prove.

The BIG part about control that people kinda ignored is that a WEST COAST ARTIST said he’s the King Of NY. That shit got you killed 20 years ago. It was an INSANELY BALLSY thing for a rapper, in one of the most dangerous profession, inviting ACTUAL REAL SMOKE.
Casuals got caught up in the names said, but Kendrick made a REAL 90s IM THE BEST FUCK THE OTHERSIDE MOVE. Not this modern day everybody buddy buddy can eat malarkey. Everyone can eat but only ONE can be the best. Kendrick is truest embodiment of hip hop. Alpha man moves.

I have to agree with the take. Kendrick confident and technically the best. Best content and skill and still manages to sell.
Drake is great but has writers and help and surface level content. J.Cole has rapped better and deeper content than Drake but hes not at Kendrick level lyrically and cant make hits like adrake so he stuck in the middle. "Middle Child".

I’d argue the Control verse did do something because multiple rappers responded and it’s still being talked about to this day. It might not be talked about for the bars but him calling out other rappers by name was not common in the 2010s.

Cole and Drake stans are just emotional cuz Kdot can disappear for a couple of years and still make a bigger impact than both of them with 1 verse, he wants all the smoke and fans are either sensitive or biased, Love how fans get in their feelings when their favourite rapper get dissed lol so it's okay when ppl are "glazing" Cole and Drake but since it's Kdot who has a better discography than both of them it's an issue.😂

Drake does have some songs with substance, but it's very clear what the majority of his fanbase and the new gen of rap fans want to hear from him. His Scary hours 3 songs were great but the biggest song out of the 3 was probably the worst, bc people would rather yell out "fuck my ex" than actually listen to the lyrical bombs this man was dropping. Kendrick isn't willing to compromise quality for quantity and tho I respect that he's also clearly in a better position to do so because he's seen as a conscious rapper and leader whereas Drake is seen as pop rapper.

It's not about putting out a bunch of music every 5 minutes, it's about taking time, living life, experiencing new things and producing music from a place of inspiration thats when people can feel it and appreciate it, that's when you make timeless classics. Fans that keep begging artists to drop songs every 5 minutes domt actually want something quality, you just want them to keep satisfying your 5 minute long attention spans and eventually the artist gets burned out and you complain because you know they can do better. So don't expect Kendrick to drop bs songs or albums every other day, he actually takes time, thought, strategy and puts alottof effort into his work. Many are still appreciating classic albums of his from a decade ago!

Drake is and has been the issue here. When Kendrick dropped his control verse and basically said “I’m cool with these guys, but this is hip hop and I’m still competing with myself” Drake got in his feelings and reacted with high levels of light skin nigga energy.
And both Cole and Drake basically said in FirstPersonShooter that there’s a top 3/got discussion but it’s really just them. Drake definitely acknowledges Kendrick, he’s just crafty about it bc that smoke in particular is something he isn’t built for

Well actually now is the perfect time to do this. They’re basically in the twilight of their careers. It can be argued that any potential any of them might’ve had has been fully or almost completely realized. With discographies spanning multiple decades now more than ever it’s safe to make judgements on who is better than who and by how much, yet people are still clowning around acting like they’re all on the same level when there is a clear obvious gap in skill that has existed for over 10 years.
