Camer Image festival in Poland is the biggest cinematography centric event and it awarded Tàr top prize, this just wasn’t given the attention it should have been. Bardo was second and Living third. Anyway, although Tàr isn’t a colorful movie, and I wasn’t impressed by it overall, its cinematography is still excellent and I prefer it Top Gun’s.

Like of course there are some snubs like nothing for nope and decision to leave or deadwyler ( :((((( ), and babylon missing best picture (I honestly loved it), but mescal, hsu and risenborough honestly makes me so happy they are giving so much love to the rookies and i'm here for it, this changes things and maybe thats good. Tar is my favorite film I’ve seen in a long time. Glad it got a lot of love, and in categories it wasn’t predicted in. I’ve been thinking about this movie constantly for weeks now.
I’m disappointed about The Whale, but excited because Tar got everything it needed to become a legitimate dark horse contender in screenplay, director, or picture.
The Whale was pretty divisive in the script, directing and picture whereas Fraser was universally acclaimed more than the script, directing and picture so kinda make sense why The Whale wasn't upped for more categories

In comparison, Aronofsky managed to make a guy unable to leave his apartment cinematic and encode so much meaning into the space simply through how it was shot. The script was a bit on the nose (but the fact that so many social media warriors still misunderstood the message of “acknowledge the beauty in all people simply because of their humanity” makes me think it was justified being so blunt), but the direction was fantastic at every level.

Andrea Riseborough happened. DIY campaigns are certainly nothing new. Sally Kirkland did one back in 1988 that led to her Oscars nomination for "Anna", but even for that performance she won the Golden Globes and Spirit Awards so she was already in the conversation. So yes, Riseborough's nomination was a long shot, but a welcomed surprise. As fas as Ana de Armas for "Blonde", that felt expected despite the film itself being so divisive. Danielle Deadwyler not being nominated is a shame. Finally, "Top Gun: Maverick" not being nominated for Cinematography makes absolutely no sense. Danielle Deadwyler not being nominated is a shame. Finally, "Top Gun: Maverick" not being nominated for Cinematography makes absolutely no sense. I mean, they filmed that one most of time while upset down in jets.

It’s all about the campaign. Andrea Riseborough’s desperately campaigned for it. Her last month cleverly coordinated non stop celebrities campaign on twitter and social media boost earned her a nomination. They actually had to ask everyone in the industry to gather more than 200 signatures petition to vote for her (allegedly). It is not an illegal thing to do but It’s not good either for the industry in my opinion. It is unfairly done but they obviously allowed it to happen for a reason. Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett actually campaigned for her? which is I find it unusuaI feel bad for Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler who really deserve to get a nomination. I had seen the movie “To Leslie” she was actually good in it but the movie was profoundly depressing to watch.
It’s great to see the Atlanta (tv show) boys, Brian Tyree Henry and LaKeith Stanfield can now officially call themselves Oscar Nominated Actors! Truly deserving for two very talented black actors working today! 🥹
