Hello! Tanvi I saw your comments in Pratik borade videos also. I think you have good films knowledge. I want to become an actor and filmmaker. I want to write for myself. I want to make a perfect college life film which is relatable, funny and entertaining also. Movie should be based on Genz generation. @@playwithharri8900 I also don't know much Indian college movies but you should see Hridayam a college romance of Malayalam language and Tamil movie Don, which is based on an aspiring filmmaker.
According to me the main reason comedy fell in India was because of lack of creativity and polished cinema. About 'polished' look at 200's movies all were grity, dirty and bit chaotic with their clothing, dailogs, sets, and most importantly situation. In todays cinema they do make very well situational chaos but its polish i.e. most movies are set in foreign or present only clean and polish side of India unlike movies like hera pheri in which character were wearing tattered cloths and being realistic still exaggerated. About 'creativity', bollywood is suffering from this problem till now. Producers tend to make movies which are in trend, rather focusing on movies which can make trends. For reference, as Uri got its success, every producer started making patriotic movies, as Ayushman's social comedy got success they started copying them and many more examples out their. I have lot more to say but I don't think anyone will read that much.
Vedant, I think memes have played a role, developing people's humour nowadays! As compared to 90's. That's why Directors are making more logical movies with minimum comedy, and there is no such comedy genre movies today!
But after a very long time kunal khemu made such an amazing movie and the acting and comic timing of pratik Gandhi and devyendu Sharm was just epic...it was the best comedy movie of Bollywood that I have seen in a very very long time, the last good comedy that i can recall is also staring kunal khemu 'lootcase'.... This was also an outstanding movie
Actually it's mainly how audience persuates comedy content and also because of high fee increase of main lead so producers are decreasing budget on writers
Angoor wasn't a romantic comedy but a purely comedic film, and an adaptation of William Shakespeare's comedy of errors. Also Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro was a classic milestone film in the genre.
This is very relevant topic nowadays. Even my lil brother whos 13 asked me that why they dont make such movies now. Me myself have been thinking about the same factors leading up to poor comedy movies now. I also think the audiences are evolved alot and the directors and writers need scripts which are relevant for todays generation. Writers deserve much more credit and somehow we also need to promote their work more than the actors and directors.
Comedy is not about jokes its about relatibilty i.e, 80-90% of audience for these movies are middle class they didn't relate to those ultra rich people offering situational comedy and jokes which are not understandable for middle class while hera pheri, chup chup ke , bhagam bhag are relatable for audience but today's Bollywood failed to deliver these types of movies because lack knowledge about middle class india and the biggest reason for this is nepotism and this gap of relatibilty now fulfilled by stand up comedians like bassi , harsh gujral and zakir khan while on TV Kapil Sharma show is the biggest example...❤
You ignored Go Goa Gone completely. Raj&DK had directed Go Goa Gone in 2013 which was the last great comedy film alongside Fukrey 1 after that it truly went downhill for comedy genre . They have been known to integrate humour very well in their web series and movies . They have made too many underrated movies in the past which have gone unnoticed.

in late 80s and early 90s movies like mr india, Chalbaaz started successful experiments in comedy genre , giving it a solid base in 90s and ultimately comedy as a genre peaked in 2000s, but then may be in 2010s comedy as genre became saturated and predictable and we as an audience started loosing interest. Now the situation is such that even romcoms are failing to do justice to comedy part then what can we expect from a full fledged comedy movie. 😶
Good Analysis! I really think people's taste have changed and they may consider 2000s comedy as cringe or lame. So maybe the directors, fearing the potential loss are afraid to make such movies again.
I personally think that they become classics and nostalgic because they were shoved into our face by star gold and set Max 😂😂😂 It's either 3 idiots, singham, sooryavansham, welcome, Hera pheri series, aparichit or some other Ravi Teja comedy movie shown on most of the channels at that point of time 😂😂

Bhaiya mene 3 ghante ke andar comment Kara ha, plz replay 😢😢 No but on a serious note very good analysis bhai ❤ It's true that "Comfort is the enemy of Art". Remake copy paste yojana and used comedic tropes are a major sign that Bollywood just can't get up from the comfort couch. But I have a video suggestion or a topic which lives rent free in my mind nowadays; Glorifying v/s Normalising what exactly is power of filmmaking ? There's a subtle difference i feel audience and critics missed from so called "violent" films like animal or filmmaker-made template of "romance" films that shaped our psyche through decades.
If u r 90's kid..then u know all priyadarshan movie was so amazing.from 2000 to 2012...all nostalgic movies Hera pheri Bhul bhulaiya Hulchal Hangama Mala maal weekly Chup chupke Bhagbam bhag De dana dan Gram masala Mere baap phle baap..or other golmaal series
Recently I watch madgaon express i genuinely laughed after long time. Now talking about video loved it as always your research on point .❤❤❤ 12:50 neeraj vohra was backbone of priyadarsan movie. After his death priyadharasan lost his touch . He tried to comeback in hungama 2 but it turned out disaster. That's why he refused to hera feri 3 ( some producer issue too).
He refused even HP2 and he did not refuse HP3 coz of Hungama 2 failure, but actually he does not believe in sequel culture like continuing stories. If Neeraj Vora is so great then why beside Phir Hera Pheri his no movie as a director worked. His movie Shortcut was a disaster remake of Mohanlal's Malayalam movie Udayananu Tharam and even the original writer Roshan Andrews was not even credited for the story,(atleast Priyettan credited original's directors.) Hungama 2 was written by Priyettan's old writer Manisha Korde who also wrote Dhol but I don't know what went wrong with them.

Priyettan (Priyadarshan) sir is the best director in Indian cinema, though I love his comedy movies a lot alongwith thrillers and romantics and I even miss it, sadly he said he will not make comedies anymore in Malayalam as many brilliant actors of his comedy films have died. I am inspired by him in the field of direction and even feel that I can follow his footsteps and tried to make comedies but I am unable to think of writing a comedy as wo bahut mushkil hai. Hope so samay ke saath aisa sense aaye ki I can make comical films.🤞❤
Neeraj Vora ji was a good writer as his sense of humour was good in Golmaal and Awara Pagal Deewana types and he even wrote good dialogues for Priyadarshan films and yes Priyettan has achieved a lot without Neeraj Vora, like winning National Awards and giving successes like Gardish, Virasat, Khatta Meetha, De Dana Dan and Dhol.(Not written by Vora).
P.S. No hate for Mr. Vora as zindagi bhar dukh jhelte huye comedy likhna is not easy.❤🙏
you're right!
Hello! Tanvi I saw your comments in Pratik borade videos also. I think you have good films knowledge. I want to become an actor and filmmaker. I want to write for myself. I want to make a perfect college life film which is relatable, funny and entertaining also. Movie should be based on Genz generation. I only watched 2 perfect college life films - 3 idiots and chhichhore. If you know any other films please suggest me. Would you like to work with me?
I have lot more to say but I don't think anyone will read that much.
interesting addition to the video
Vo to sari industry m hota harry potter chali tab hi muze runner bani 😭
Back then also there was no creativity. It was all Malayalam movie remakes.
Vedant, I think memes have played a role, developing people's humour nowadays! As compared to 90's. That's why Directors are making more logical movies with minimum comedy, and there is no such comedy genre movies today!
Ohhh yaaa memes ka impact analyse karna reh gaya
But after a very long time kunal khemu made such an amazing movie and the acting and comic timing of pratik Gandhi and devyendu Sharm was just epic...it was the best comedy movie of Bollywood that I have seen in a very very long time, the last good comedy that i can recall is also staring kunal khemu 'lootcase'.... This was also an outstanding movie
yup
Bro as I said in your previous video as well, keep this up man. Your videos are entertaining and knowledgable.
Main tera hero was definitely the last good proper comedy movie of Bollywood. Madgaon Express in 2024 is really a game changer
Love your videos man. I have to read most with English subtitles, but it’s very interesting.
Glad you like them!
Damn Bro! So much details and research in your videos.
thankssss
Tabhi Laxman ko Raju bol rha h😂
@@mohdtanveer7018 I think wo isliye Ki hame 3 idiots se Raju jaldi recall hora Hai, warna Golmaal 1 me ta uska nam bi mujhe Yad Nahi
Actually it's mainly how audience persuates comedy content and also because of high fee increase of main lead so producers are decreasing budget on writers
yes like I mention in the video
As a south indian I can say that priyadarshan movies are worth watching 100+ times ❤ . I really like to watch bollywood comedy movies too..
Phone Bhoot was one such great underrated comedy movie in recent years with good writing and acting
oh ya
Angoor wasn't a romantic comedy but a purely comedic film, and an adaptation of William Shakespeare's comedy of errors. Also Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro was a classic milestone film in the genre.
hmmmm
Very Well Explained after a lots of research 🤟🏻
Glad to hear that

thank youuuu
I disagree about omg2. It is an amazing movie. It is definitely not as brutal as first part but it is definitely amazing movie.
I’m glad u like the topic
Correct observation
You ignored Go Goa Gone completely. Raj&DK had directed Go Goa Gone in 2013 which was the last great comedy film alongside Fukrey 1 after that it truly went downhill for comedy genre . They have been known to integrate humour very well in their web series and movies . They have made too many underrated movies in the past which have gone unnoticed.
Superb video but Vedant bhai forgot his second channel
Waah pehli baar kisi ne ye chij notice ki h or is pe video banai 👍🏻 pehli ki comedy movies ki baat bhot alag h. Aaj bi Dhamal movie humari family again again dekhti h ❤or hum bhot enjoy krte h aisi comedy movies ko but aaj kal ke movies me comedy ke naam pr bekar dialouges hote h.iss se acha south movies h ❤❤
thank you bhai

thanks bro
this was so well done! just 10 mins pehle i saw the news of bhool bhulaiya 3 dropping ,and just then yt recommended this video, this was very insightful
ps : idk if dil chahta hai would be considered a cult classic IN TERMS OF COMEDY but it really stuck with me as one from the 2000s
comedy to nahi, but cult classic yes
Stree is one of those few film that really captured the comedy part perfectly. It seemed so natural rather thab being forced.
When comedy is talked about in Bollywood, only one name stands, GOVINDAAAAA. HERO NO 1, DULHE RAJA, RAJA BABU, HASEENA MAAN JAYEGI, BADE MIYAN CHOTTE MIYAN, jz to name a few.
yessss
Haseena Maan jaayegi and dulhe Raja I laughed During entire film literally in Haseena Maan jaayegi 😂😂
I think the loss of relatability factor and over glamourise of big actors just for the sake of money have killed the genre

in late 80s and early 90s movies like mr india, Chalbaaz started successful experiments in comedy genre , giving it a solid base in 90s and ultimately comedy as a genre peaked in 2000s, but then may be in 2010s comedy as genre became saturated and predictable and we as an audience started loosing interest. Now the situation is such that even romcoms are failing to do justice to comedy part then what can we expect from a full fledged comedy movie. 😶
Good point
Video starts at 13:47
Thank you 😂
Bhai story telling or context bhi koi cheez hoti h yaar
Good Analysis! I really think people's taste have changed and they may consider 2000s comedy as cringe or lame. So maybe the directors, fearing the potential loss are afraid to make such movies again.
you're correct!
Great video Vedant, Next video is topic par ho jaae ki Bollywood kabhi Science fiction genre kyu ni banata?
I think Dream Girl is the only comedy movie for me that somewhat holds up in recent years.
Hmmm I mean it's not for everyone like hera pheri it's a one time watch
Neeraj Vohra was soul of comedy movies, his writing was on point 🤌🏻🔥

6:33, bhai u have by mistake used poster of 2002 Aankhein.😊
I personally think that they become classics and nostalgic because they were shoved into our face by star gold and set Max 😂😂😂

I watched Madgaon Express, it was good but not even close to Dhamaal or even Housefull 1
ya isiliye it was a throwback
Govinda-Dhawan combo most do a comeback!!!
I believe aaj kal ke movies are forcing people to laugh on thier old or senseless jokes, mano aisa ke they haven't moved on and not explored the current market and aisa lag raha hai ke unko pata nahi hai what is the level of comedy today wich they need to match
, what do you think bhaiya
hmmmm
There is one simple reason for comedy movies to work or not work, repeat viewing. Aaj kal time hi kaha hai koi film ko baar baar dekhne ka.
Govinda Comedy era will never be matched ever ❤
Bhai konsi chair hai brand ka name to bata da
I don't even consider that comedy, the only thing they are adding now is cringe cringe and cringe, i didn't even got a slight of smile watching judwa 2, pagalpanti and cooklie no 1(2020)

It is so good to see Vedant is getting these many views in his videos recently. And it is sort of callback to What went wrong and deep pop culture analysis which brought back those 2020 days. Overall I am loving it Vedant !!
I legit saw the film Hungama first time in 2019, and since then it's my comfort film, can watch it anytime, anywhere and any number of times and will laugh the same way on every part. And it shocked me when I realized that it was already 15 years old back then. Also, the sequel🤡🤡🤡🤡 didn't even watch it, but i knew what to expect, they surely would've ruined the OG one.

No but on a serious note very good analysis bhai ❤
It's true that "Comfort is the enemy of Art". Remake copy paste yojana and used comedic tropes are a major sign that Bollywood just can't get up from the comfort couch. But I have a video suggestion or a topic which lives rent free in my mind nowadays; Glorifying v/s Normalising what exactly is power of filmmaking ?
There's a subtle difference i feel audience and critics missed from so called "violent" films like animal or filmmaker-made template of "romance" films that shaped our psyche through decades.
thank you bhai, appreciate the comment and the feedback!
If u r 90's kid..then u know all priyadarshan movie was so amazing.from 2000 to 2012...all nostalgic movies

yup
Recently I watch madgaon express i genuinely laughed after long time.
Now talking about video loved it as always your research on point .❤❤❤
12:50 neeraj vohra was backbone of priyadarsan movie. After his death priyadharasan lost his touch . He tried to comeback in hungama 2 but it turned out disaster. That's why he refused to hera feri 3 ( some producer issue too).
yupppp
