      @@vedantrusty it's not ok I think
Due to big age gaps we can't see new faces of both male and female actors so opportunities are getting less for those who are trying to become new generation actor
I think this will continue for lot's of years without changing until or unless the faces of star actors get creases like anil kapoor even he is 67 years old but looks like he is near 50 years 🥶

The age gap between male and female actors in the Bollywood industry has been a noticeable trend for years. While many factors contribute to this, a major one is the appearance and how well the on-screen couple's chemistry is portrayed. In some films, directors and makeup artists manage to make the couple look glamorous and cohesive, despite the age difference. However, in other films, this age gap becomes more obvious, resulting in a lack of convincing chemistry.
Looking back at the 90s Bollywood stars such as Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan, there was less emphasis on male actors wearing heavy makeup. When they did, it was usually for technical reasons like lighting. In contrast, female actors were expected to wear makeup to create a flawless, doll-like appearance. Over time, this dynamic has led to some interesting outcomes.
As the male actors aged, their appearance changed too, but they could still mask signs of aging like wrinkles with makeup and prosthetics. Although some signs of age remain visible, these actors generally maintain a youthful look that audiences are familiar with from their younger years. However, this isn't always the case with actresses. Since actresses have been consistently wearing makeup from a younger age, their natural aging signs become more noticeable as they get older. Even when makeup is used in their later years, it's harder to conceal wrinkles or facial changes entirely, and this often affects the audience's acceptance of them in younger roles, especially when paired with much younger male actors.
Take Aishwarya Rai, for example. When she starred in *Taal*, she had minimal makeup and was praised for her natural beauty. However, as she has aged, the changes in her appearance, even with makeup, are more noticeable, making it harder for her to be cast as a hero’s partner in today’s films. Similarly, in *Om Shanti Om*, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone had a significant age difference, yet their pairing was widely accepted because both appeared youthful. However, in Shah Rukh Khan’s recent film *Pathaan*, audiences have begun to question the age gap, as the makeup and prosthetics no longer fully conceal the differences.
In cases like Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, the dynamic works well because both are tall, confident, and have strong screen presences that complement each other. However, when older actors like Akshay Kumar are paired with much younger actresses like Sara Ali Khan or Manushi Chhillar, the age gap becomes more glaring and awkward.
The reality is that male actors are often accepted in romantic roles well into their older years, while female actors, due to societal expectations and the visibility of aging, face more scrutiny. If the age difference is subtle and hidden by makeup or strong chemistry, audiences may not question it. But when the age gap becomes too pronounced, it affects the believability of the on-screen relationship.
Moreover, Bollywood traditionally has preferred male actors to be older than their female counterparts. Female actors rarely, if ever, play romantic leads opposite younger male actors, because aging on a woman’s face tends to be more scrutinized, and this imbalance reflects societal norms regarding beauty and age.

The age gap in Bollywood reflects deeper societal and industry issues. In earlier times, people weren’t as aware or critical of these gaps, and roles for women were much harder to come by compared to today. Even in 2024, it seems that much of the audience still prefers seeing older male actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Akshay Kumar in lead roles, while young actors struggle to gain similar attention. This shows that society hasn't fully evolved its preferences.
Moreover, female actors are often typecast into roles like the sister, wife, or girlfriend, and they're frequently objectified in romantic scenes or item songs, many of which feature semi-nude clothing. It’s surprising that more people don’t speak out against B-grade films or the prevalence of item songs, but these reflect what the audience-and perhaps even the culture-seems to want.
Directors and producers are primarily driven by profit and don't seem to care about the negative impact these portrayals have on society. This is evident when big stars like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ajay Devgan endorse products like Vimal Pan Masala under the guise of "elaichi masala," even though they know it’s linked to tobacco.

And bollywood actors still acknowlege this issue but the condition in South movies are worst in case of actors like Rajnikanth,Chiranjeevi,Balaya .

age-gaps are such a weird topic, when done correctly they can impact and educate people on so many topics which are prominent today and can actually create change but seeing movies where unironically there is a 20-40 year age gap is is jarring. there are so many stories to tell so many movies that can be made. an actual feel good romance can be made with actors closer in age even from a marketing and PR point of view pairing actors their own age would make so much more sense but somehow the industry won't understand that for the pure reason of "shelf life hoti toh hai"

However, excessive and unrealistic age differences can sometimes detract from the story and feel out of place. Casting actors closer in age could indeed resonate well with audiences, aligning better with both creative and marketing goals. It's an interesting aspect the industry could explore more intentionally to produce compelling and relatable narratives.

today there might be slight difference in attitude and opinions of the audience about female actress age but I had seen the audience reaction about top actresses in the movies about their age in the 90s and the best example was Madhuri Dixit. In 1995, when Raja released all people were going gaga over her and her hotness but in 1997, when dil to pagal hai released and SRK chose Madhuri over karishma Kapoor, the same audience were saying Madhuri buddhi ho gayi hai , he should choose Karishma Kapoor. Just in 2 years, the same audience changed. 😡In my opinion, primary factor is the audience that film makers cast Buddha hero with teen heroines. If the audience mindset will improve, then even filmmakers will also give importance to actresses after their prime age of 30s

  • @easyveganfoodie
    @easyveganfoodie 4 дні тому +3

It’s disappointing that SRK was willing to talk about this in an interview about om shanti om but then in another interview he said that it doesn’t matter and they will pick an actress based on talent not age.. I really think he changed this stance because before at the time of om shanti om he was okay as a romance lead actor he just needed an older actress opposite him but now if he talks about age gap he has to address his own age and the fact that he is getting too old for these roles. This is something these actors don’t want to do. There’s plenty of roles they can do that are age appropriate, amithab Bachan has been very relevant on screen over the years and his roles did change based on his age. I would personally love to see more family oriented movies with these actors playing fathers (like how ajay devgan has played this role in several movies now).

We all have seen ageism in cinema and interviews. One question that always sparks in mind, if there is a serious issue going on with ageist actors, how many of you seen their contemporaries actresses saying that those actors should not say/do that. They are even best friends with those actors and it shows they are okay with this. I feel Actresses should speak about their friends on national televisions. They are anyway not going to do a film with them. What to lose here? If friendship , it's better to let these ageist friends go.

  • @authenticaishika
    @authenticaishika 4 дні тому +2

The same applies to the television industry. I have noticed many actresses on television who portray the role of mothers, and their age is often similar to that of the lead actor (the hero). The reality is that if a woman wishes to pursue an acting career in her 30s or 40s after saving a good amount of bank balance from traditional jobs, she often ends up playing supporting roles. For example:- Lillete Dubey started her Bollywood career at the age of 47 when she was the mother of a teenage girl in real life. She has mainly taken on supporting roles in Bollywood movies, but she looks remarkable for her age.

even in shadaa, neeru's character was shown to be older than diljit's, and it worked well too. loved that movie tbh. i think punjabi industry is very well balanced in this aspect. the male and female age gaps are not that wide i think. ofc there are exceptions, but in general we can see there's not much age gap between most ones (except like simi chahal-harish verma, amrinder gill-simi chahal etc etc..)

In India, there are a lot of zombie and vampire movie fans who wants to see bollywood movies related to zombies and vampires but bollywood isn't that much serious about the genre of zombie or vampire.

Q1. What is Saheb looking for in the garbage dumps? Where is he and where has he come from?
Ans. Saheb is looking for gold in the garbage dumps. He is in the neighbourhood of the author. Saheb has come from Bangladesh. He Came with his mother in 1971. His house was set amidst the green fields of Dhaka. Storms swept away their fields and homes. So they left the country.
Q2. What explanations does the author offer for the children not wearing footwear?
Ans. One explanation offered by the author is that it is a tradition to stay barefoot. It is not lack of money. He wonders if this is only an excuse to explain away a perpetual state of poverty. He also remembers the story of a poor body who prayed to the goddess for a pair of shoes.

    Dharmendra - anita raj
    Amitabh - sridevi
    Rajesh Khanna - teena munim
    Rajnikanth - Aishwarya rai
Nagarjun - anushka Shetty ayesha takia
    Chirnjivi - Sonali
And south has most number of age gap roles
Even Female Superstar also romance with lesser age heroes
    Sridevi with Salman,
    Sridevi with Srk
    Rekha with Akshay
Role should not be bind with Age color look relegions and cast wise it is cheap overjudgemental mentality .. Actor are just actors.. 😎even in real life in all relegions great hindu raja, rishi muni , mugal badshah, prophets married with young age Partner. Then why this double standards only for actors we should become overjudgemental. Let do thier work independently.
