love your reviews! I know this is a year old, and not sure if they just started doing this, , but per Emax, this is basically the same controller as used with the tinyhawk, and also uses Frsky protocol. Which means if you want to upgrade to a different quad, you can most definately use this controller, as long as you buy or build one with a Frsky receiver in it, which is one of the most popular there is. Also, just for anyone out there new to FPV, this confused the heck out of me when I was new, and I ordered wrong parts twice before I figured it out..lol. There are two companies that make radio controllers and recievers with extremely similar names. Frsky and FlySky, two totallyl different companies, most people pronounce the first one by saying the first two letters separately then the word sky.....F--R--sky, the second one is said as all one word.....flysky. Just wanted to throw that out there, hope it helps. ✌️
This is a good quad to learn on, but if you're like me, you'll soon wish you bought the Tinyhawk. I did make a modification to mine to make it a little easier to FPV fly. The camera is at such a high angle, you're looking up even at full forward. It can't pitch forward enough to level the camera, so you always end up flying it while looking upwards. The bottom of the camera PCB has a tab on it and that fits into a little square raised recess in the canopy. I took that tab out of that hole and put the camera PCB tab in front of the square recess. This took me from barely being to fly around the tree in the front yard to being to fly out of my yard, down the sidewalk and to the neighbor's yard and fly back. If you're having trouble, lower the camera angle. It was a huge help for me because at full pitch forward, I'm now looking level.
I can't believe this; your unboxing part was more useful than another full video on the set-up. Mine did not come with instructions, but you clarified a few issues. Thanks.
After many years of building and flying conventional drones I thought I would hop on into the FPV world this spring. After building a nice 220mm carbon Frame beauty I went with some other (more experienced) FPV friends out on July 4th 2019 for a little fun. After putting the goggles on without my (far-sighted) prescription glasses I told a buddy Its blurry..... Buddies response "It'll be alright.....Just take it slow" Said the Oak tree after it hit my full speed drone "I win....!!!! " Lesson learned. A great review (as always) and some great advice from Captain Drone on the nuances of the FPV world...… And it is a different world..... Thanks again Captain Drone!!!! You got me thinking of this model to train my brain and perhaps goggles for farsightedness....!!!!

Nice job as usual Cap'n. I got one of these from Amazon today! On your recommendation. First flight in living room and spilled my beer trying to catch it. ( I think it needs some trim adjustments to avoid further alcohol abuse!) Your thoroughness and cheery attitude are commendable. Thanks! -- LATER -- I have to say, though, if a person wants to learn to fly a drone, this is not the one to use. Really, you have four minutes, max, to monkey around with the controls trying to get a handle on how it works, trim-wise. This is problematic when the unit jumps into the air like a rocket and then goes about on its own ignoring the controller. Now depleted, recharge that meager four minute battery at the very least an hour! Who has the patience for that screwy bell curve? While the total package is jam packed with technology that I initially liked and really wanted to use, sadly, I sent mine back because after only a couple of recharge cycles two rotors stopped functioning making it completely useless. I have to rate this product poor because it could be great only if you already are adept as a pilot, and, the product does not fail to function as did mine.
I’m sold. My brain has nothing better to do. Even very inexpensive is expensive when you’re on Social Security. She has a life I have memories and a sense of humor.

FPV is very different than camera drones for a learning curve. Also, FPV can be very expensive to get into & then after that everything is cheap. I just purchased this drone. It is easy to learn on, makes it fun. However the frame seems to be flimsy. After about 30 minutes of flying and crashing into the walls a lot, the struts on one of the motors broke at the joint where it attaches to the frame. So on your bigger drones are you in acro or a throttle management self lev mode?
This drone does not have full ACRO, it is more similar to a cross between HORIZON and ANGLE mode. Anyone who has been flying FPV for a short while will eventually fly in ACRO since that is where the most fun is at. If you watch any of my videos with me flying FPV Drones, I'm pretty much always in ACRO mode.

The results are the same. When the rc remote is switched off I get perfect signal. Once I turn on the remote the video has consistent scan lines going up and down my screen 📺 and if I hit the throttle snow. This happens with all my goggles 🥽. My iron quad goggles, my eachine / atom rc goggles etc… I wonder if I need to bind the remote to a different frequency or just use a different remote altogether. @@CAPTAINDRONE798 yes I have never had a problem of this kind with any ready to fly kit before. Thanks once more for the very useful tip on the remote. I will look into it. #stayepic
I'm not what you would call an advanced flyer but i think beginner mode is the hardest because say you need to quickly dodge an obstacle from the side, you need to yaw the drone first before you can avoid the obstacle so i fell int and adv mode is easier
For me, flying in ACRO mode all the time, I do switch back to ANGLE mode for some of these demo videos to show beginners how easy it is to fly, HOWEVER… Just as you said, it is difficult to try to fly in ANGLE after flying in ACRO because the drone does not bank like a true 6 axis drone.
Who do you consider to be the best company so far i tried about 6 bands and to be honest eachine has been the worst of of the ones i have tried 3in and less. But i bought the zino 2 pro because of you review. Has a camera drone but now im looking for maybe a 5 in or 4 in freestly fpv.
If looking for FPV, all of these companies make the best product in that category: IFLIGHT, FLYWOO, GEPRC, HGLRC, REKON, BETAFPV. When you see any product by EACHINE, you must understand that EACHINE did not make it, but rather one of the companies I just mentioned, made it for EACHINE.

I turn the drone on and perfect vision in the goggles 🥽 but if both the drone and the remote are on the goggles flicker and if I throttle up you get snow ❄️. Any idea how to fix this?
You'll have to then change your video channel on drone and goggles. The instruction manual should have that info as to how to do it.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok sounds good! Thanks for the info!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I tried changing the channel bands. It was set to fat shark 🦈 band by default. I tried a bunch of the other bands… b and f and then a few different channels. Do you know if the emax ez pilot binds to radio master Zorro or other remotes like the jumper light? Kind of stumped. Happy holidays!
@@marcoreviews that is strange for sure. I thing Betaflight uses a Frsky D8 type of receiver (just my guess)
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yes I have never had a problem of this kind with any ready to fly kit before. Thanks once more for the very useful tip on the remote. I will look into it. #stayepic
Thanks Got It!!
Compared to the Eachine E013 plus which would you say would be a better buy and why?
The EMAX is the better buy
Is it pet friendly? 11:29 My cats would chase it. They bring me woodpeckers so I doubt this would hurt them.
It looks like the family may have evacuated the flight path.
Can you use it in a flight simulator?
The video should provide you with that answer
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I have watched the video twice now and i cant find the answer, it comes whit a usb cable that you can plug from the controller to you pc but you dont say if it works in a flight sim! Do mind cecking it for me? Thanks
@@dhjamie3783 Ahhh… this is an old EMAX product and I don’t think they built it to connect to flight sims.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok thanks:)
Hmmm..... thinking of getting myself a fpv after watching this review.
Boss man Drone, If i can fly a Syma or same styley would i be able to fly this in middle mode, because fpv scare me a little, i more into the cam drone. I am a noob at both lol
Dear captain congrads nice review! A bit of advice, what do you recomend for me that I’m more interested in video quality but i also want the fpv fantastic shots tha mavics can’t give? I mean a not so expensive fpv that can carry maybe a gopro. Thanks
None will carry a GoPro. When you see a GoPro being used to film from the air it is almost always strapped to an FPV RACE QUAD.
