Un capolavoro , è una delle canzoni che porterò sempre nel mio cuore , ho avuto la fortuna di ascoltarla dal vivo nel 1988 ancora più emozionante , bravi!
Amazing, all the different elements that went into this video. 1. The scenes are from the 1947 movie "Black Narcissus", 2. the music by Ryuichi Sakamoto from the film "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence", 3. the lyrics for "Forbidden Colors" by David Sylvian 4. with the title from the book "Forbidden Colors" by Yukio Mishima. Thank you vertigo60 for putting this video together.
This work of musical art came along at a critical time in my late twenties, as a man I was transforming from self ignorance to working out who I was and what next spiritually if I was going to survive, I already had experienced one devastating marriage and two close encounters with those who mattered dearly, then for a short period someone came along who changed my concept how I see myself without doubt, I changed and till recent when I heard this classic again for the first time since that encounter, I was flushed with emotions that took me back to a very special moment in time. Love and regards, Kattie, if you read this I never forgot the magic, Lou.
@@warrenbutterfield4208 Yup, I know. The scene at the 38 minute mark of the movie, when the distraught Clodagh (Deborah Kerr) is fishing with her married lover and then transforms into Sister Clodagh praying in the chapel, is nearly flawless and one of my favorite transitions in any movie.
The biggest problem with contemporary filmmakers is their ARROGANCE ... "MY" vision ... which lets them completely RUIN entire franchises by trying to make them into something which they arent ... because they are too lazy to look at what came before them. This is true for Star Trek and Star Wars ... but also for historical movies where "diversity" "has to be" included where historically none existed. In WWI there were no mixed regiments for the british Army for example, because they came from their own region and having an "all indian regiment" makes far more sense for communication purposes among the soldiers. All these little common sense things are LOST on writers and directors ... and far too much budget is wasted on CGI.

Many contemporary filmmakers would do well to study the visuals here. The story is clear without any dialogue.
