  • When it's time to change your spark plugs, it's easier than you think on the Impreza / Crosstrek! All you need is a little bit of patience and the right tools, and you'll be good to go in no time.
I didn't mention this in the video, but it is recommended you check each spark plug for the proper gap. These come pre-gapped at .044", but there are cases where the gap may be altered during shipping. The best way to check the gap on IRIDIUM plugs is by using a wire spark gap tool (I used this one: www.amazon.com/CTA-Tools-3238.... Check each plug to ensure they are gapped at .044" before installing. I checked mine after I installed just to be sure upon learning the importance of spark plug gap. Mine were perfectly in spec right out the box. There are many tutorials on here on how to gap Iridium plugs. The wire gap gauge is recommended for Iridium plugs because it prevents damage to the fine tip electrode.

I also confimed the spark plug gap being at .044" by checking my old plugs, which also all came out to .044".

Very good walkthrough! So far I love the content you’re putting out and have the cleanest Impreza sport I’ve seen! You’ve also inspired my girlfriend to start to piece some mods for her 2016 sport hatch! You got my sub!

It was really pretty easy and only took 1 hour. I used a couple of hinged extensions along the way. Also getting the new plugs started with a length of fuel line on the tip made that part a breeze. I did have to use a long nose pliers to get the old plugs out of the deep holes.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll do the same with my car (Impreza 2014). The spark plugs you installed (Iridium) are better than the originals?

You need to dunk that positive battery terminal and pillar in a solution of sodium bicarbonate and boiling hot water to clean that corrosion off and then smear some Vaseline on it.

It took me 3 hours. I needed a 1/4" flex drive with a 10mm socket to remove coil #4.
