    Pretty much everything I’ve done on my STI other than oil changes, ive learned from you. Ive done a lot of mods and maintenance and ive had the car since new in 2018 so all that to say, you’ve been a huge help and I really appreciate everything you’ve taught me🤙 I was really dreading changing the plugs on my car but it wasn’t nearly as difficult as I was expecting. Mahalo and aloha from Maui Tanner.

    Exactly what I needed...posted 3 years ago, but still relevant! Just going over maintenance, plugs came up in another one of your videos and I thought, damn I need to do it! This video helped guide me a lot and as always, very informative. Saved me about $350-400 in labor charges and DAM back to 1.0 babbbby! Unless disconnecting the battery reset it?! Either way, peace of mind! Congrats on 100k+ subs, well deserved!!!

    Thanks for the video, something to note is that 18+ already comes with the colder 7 heat range plugs. I thought I was getting one step colder when in fact it was the same heat range as my stock 20 sti spark plugs. No biggy at least they are fresh new plugs. If you have swivel extensions it makes this even easier. I found that my craftsman kit you couldn’t get the ratchet head on the #4 cyl. The swivel extension allowed this to happen with ease. Only a couple battle scars, first time doing this took about 2 hours nothing crazy. I’m sure the dealer or any shop would of wanted crazy money for the job

    About to do this over the holiday weekend and dug this up for a refresher. I think peeps that jack up the engine and other silliness are not aware of the socket disassembly and coil pack spin techniques. I had to figure out the spin one when I brute forced the packs in there and got wild misfires and blinking cels. That moment when you try to fix something and you make it 10 times worse. 😭
    But, lots of people worried about spark plug part #'s. It's in your owner's manual. There are actually a few different ones that go in EJs. My 205 and 255 are different.

    Just helped the roommie do his GR8 I believe it is. Apparently hes never done them and Ive never done it on my GRF. Before buying mine I heard about jacking the engine a bit however I think it was more with the GC and GD as the engine bay is smaller than the GR and the VA looks a bit more spacious than the GR. Took about 5 hours (including piping and accessories) mostly trying to find the hole and the air pressure of the coil kept wanting to pop off until we got the bolt in. 180 trick didnt work on the GR. Otherwise same process.

    Don’t use anti seize on ngk plugs. The lubricant from it could cause you to overtorque the plugs cause them to break and that’s a major issue. The treads on the plugs have a corrosion compound already.

    • @nastysoda9212
      @nastysoda9212 9 місяців тому +1

      slightly overtorqing the spark plug isn't going to break it or strip the threads. A little anti-sieze is not needed on NGK but it's not going to destroy your damn engine. Chill

  • @jacobrobbins8606

    I watched this video among others as a guide but should have done more research. It wasn't until after I installed them that I found some important information from my tuner (cobb-verified Innovative Tuning). He (and many internet sources) recommend avoiding anti-seize to deter misfire from improper grounding. I have to take all my spark plugs out now and clean off the lube.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  4 роки тому

      Personally I wouldent put any in without anti sieze. I have had plugs break inside the head from cording to the block and its not a good time to remove pieces of plug from the head. Never seen a misfire issue either but if you are pulling them to clean it off I hope it goes smoothly and sorry for the mis representation for it.

    I've been catching up on the blob eye build and the EG build, and I have to say I feel a little silly having gone the jack the engine up route. All I'm wondering now is what if any difference is there between this and a GD chassis frame rail? I remember doing my blob eye in 2008, but let's just say I was still learning how to use a wrench.
