Yes he may push some but it is to get to the crux of who they are and show their mettle and often he has turned around and made offers when he gets to the truth even if the entrepreneur is not perfect. Some may choose to see confidence others may choose to see cocky. Peter is great with people who at least show some humility when they are coming in asking for money and expertise. It is great to be confident and believe in yourself but when at the start of your success oh for goodness sake show a little humility. His disrespect of Duncan at the end nailed it for me. I am amazed that he said he knew nothing of Duncan's credentials. Also the constant nope nope. responding to him, rude. The way he said it. You can totally see at every moment that duncan had a lot of time and respect for the badger. Probably sees a bit of himself in him.. well up until that point. But If Deborah was savvy enough to mention she had dealings with Brewerys and Duncan failed to...... is it really the badgers fault he honed in on Deborah ?

@Eddie Turbine The current dragons are as follows: Peter Jones - Tech Titan who's been there from Day One and is often associated with "Why is your valuation ridiculously high?!" Deborah Meaden - Serial entrepreneur and investor who is often associated with "Be ready to justify your claims with paperwork and please don't call me Debbie!" Tej Lalvani is a Supplement Supremo. Touker Sulymen is a Fashion Retail Tycoon who is associated with "I want a simple life at my age while also making sure my office space isn't just for show." And new girl on the block Sara Davies is an "uncanny northern lass" who has a crafting empire and doesn't suffer fools gladly despite being the youngest EVER dragon. Does all that make sense?
I’m surprised so many dragons made offers. It’s not even a great business idea with the amount of casinos that host poker events and didn’t see that online poker sites were about to take off
the numpty should have gone with duncan, the internet gambling side would out perform the pubs on a massive scale 24/7 specially with duncans knowledge
He sonned Peter. He was like, “I don’t even want your money then, little man. Sit down, son”. Peter was 5’7” by the end of the episode.Debbie was looking cute there.
It looks like they merged with another company called Redtooth poker which has a more modern website, I guess the nuts poker one isn't kept up to date?
Doesn't need to. The games are played in the pub and results recorded by the hosts. All the website is required for is so players can check their standings for the season.
He accepted a deal in the den. Then refused the deal after the den due to unacceptable terms. Then got investment elsewhere. Built up the league by selling regions of the UK as franchises and sold it all to redtooth poker league
As with a lot of potential Dragon investments if you check companies house you'll notice that no recorded changes or increased issue in share capital is ever recorded to reflect the equity stake agreed in the den. I think you'll find that a lot of what is agreed on in the den is subject to further due diligence & is rarely formally executed. In the Steve Bellis' situation, you'll find the company dissolved in late 2015 & when checking the published accounts under filing history the company never achieved an annual revenue figure of more than £50k... So on this occasion, Peter's instinct was actually correct & do agree that it's probably finest example of how to turn the flow of control against those sitting high on their perch. Steve's delivery was excellent, that's one man I'm not playing poker against. :)
I remember watching this one when it first came on, yet never seen it anywhere in any British pubs?? A shame it didn't go big as it is the sort of thing that would get me down the pub more often.

We designed and created bespoke sculptures (stainless steel, steel and copper plants/trees).
This is one of the few companies from the earlier seasons that is still trading, amazing investment.
The company was supposedly worth 5.2M in q2 of 2019. so i guess they did alright.
Are you sure? As the company was dissolved in 2015. They are still operating though as there is a website up but it looks very shabby. Their Net Asset in 2014 before being dissolved was £32.4K.
@@djpeekay25 They merged with a company called Redtooth who are doing really well.
@@B1ack1c311 ah ok, thanks
@@djpeekay25 Yes, was just on there website, looks like something from the 80's. Very outdated.

Prolly the most confident and honest person.. what a combo
I like Duncan, he’s fair and got a sense of humour 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣
Fair, tough, but kind. Whaddaguy
The way peter retracts into his chair at 12:13 XD
Did not see that!!!
he's like 'finally get this mf outta here' lol
No, no, it’s nuts as in testicles 🤣😂
..in a hairy testesatchel
This is still a thing btw, it's in Rhos, however not very successful. But nice to see it still running
Steve doesn't run it anymore, and the deal didnt go though in the end
@@coreyhighbeam3269 why didn't go through? How do you know that?
The company’s dissolved
@@georgia.k doesnt mean It failed. It merged with another company.
Steve bellis didn't accept the deal in the end as reported in what happened after the den. Then he built up the company selling regional franchises then sold the company to redtooth poker league. He made a couple of quid in the end
It always warms my heart when Duncan, and Theo look amused.
They were brilliant especially when they played off each other; even started to get Peter involved in the silliness. It's not been the same since they left.
Haha the first time Peter got shut down on camera. Love it. "Yeah I wouldn't take your money anyway if you're not confident in what i'm selling ... now go and do one pal"
3:37 THIS is the BEST moment in Dragon's Den HISTORY(!!!)
Mr. Jones didn't utter a SINGLE word after that point...!!!
He didn;t need to. I think he has proven his worth and I doubt he would have wanted to work with that guy. He is great at sussing out people with an attitude.
I mean the product he was trying to sell you would have thought he had done some homework on the Dragons. Also his long speech about expertise. He was dismissing Duncan and should have just taken the offer and shut up. Too full of himself and somewhat rude. I am not surprised Duncan was annoyed he has earned his credentials.
I did see the smile between Peter and Duncan at the end. They probably have come across many like this guy before. They are not fools :)
Surprised this bargaining does happen more often
He really wanted Duncan and Debra together in a split deal
I miss the days when Peter wasn't the Big Boss in the Den. Hopefully with Theo back there's more even footing, he seems too dominant over the other current dragons without people like Duncan around
He looks like he just got back from the pub
They're still going 13 years later and are the largest pub poker firm in the UK.
Peter Dickinson really? wow ...
They got bought out by someone else...
Biggest Pygmy. Who cares?
This is Harry Enfield & Paul Whitehouses’s best sketch yet!
The company's website is HORRIBLE. Seems like something out of the 90s!
They merged with redtooth poker in 2014, so i assume that no one updated the site from that time
Joke of a company, would never invest in it, site is my 15year old.
As ever there is a thin line between confidence and arrogance.
Too gobby for me.
I think the real negotiations for this one were quite longer than most. You could see Duncan yawning and the way Peter reacted when the deal closed was unusual.
The perfect match here would have been Deborah and Duncan
You just know Peter started bawling but they cut it out of the edit
Awesome entrepreneur. This is exactly how you negotiate.
Richard Farleigh enjoys life. He's always got that cheeky smile.
Dude! Well done! This guy was on fire!
Rarely do we see Peter being snubbed by entrepreneur. Respect for the entrepreneur...
Good to see Peter David Jones get taken down a good level
Man wtf was Duncans problem lmao. The dude said that he would be more interested in their offer than his because they have more than just money to give. Its your fault for not telling him that u are really in the pub business, lmao not his. Its your loss at that point.
His ego...
Theo pathetis grinning at Peter getting grilled is the best 👌
Here's a tip if Duncan ever comes back: Don't INSULT him by not knowing what he's done in his business career!
@Eddie Turbine Well if Theo can fill in for Touker while he's under the weather, maybe Duncan could do the same for Peter in the future, perhaps?
@Eddie Turbine The current dragons are as follows:
Peter Jones - Tech Titan who's been there from Day One and is often associated with "Why is your valuation ridiculously high?!"
Deborah Meaden - Serial entrepreneur and investor who is often associated with "Be ready to justify your claims with paperwork and please don't call me Debbie!"
Tej Lalvani is a Supplement Supremo.
Touker Sulymen is a Fashion Retail Tycoon who is associated with "I want a simple life at my age while also making sure my office space isn't just for show."
And new girl on the block Sara Davies is an "uncanny northern lass" who has a crafting empire and doesn't suffer fools gladly despite being the youngest EVER dragon.
Does all that make sense?
Doing Debra dirty uploading her old cut to UA-cam smh
Crazy how unflattering that hairstyle was. She should have known better.
peters face at @ 3.54 when he says great 😂
You know when a guy has been given the nickname '' the badger'' you should be wary considering they are at their most deadly when cornered.
Peter realised his mistake, threw himself back in the end 🤣❤️👍
Respect brother - put Pete in his place and got offers from the other four dragons - right on!
I thought he was gonna explain the Pyramid scheme when Richard asks him what he does
I’m surprised so many dragons made offers. It’s not even a great business idea with the amount of casinos that host poker events and didn’t see that online poker sites were about to take off
This must be somewhere in 2007
the numpty should have gone with duncan, the internet gambling side would out perform the pubs on a massive scale 24/7 specially with duncans knowledge
This has nothing to do with internet gambling.
He sonned Peter. He was like, “I don’t even want your money then, little man. Sit down, son”. Peter was 5’7” by the end of the episode.Debbie was looking cute there.
What a loser you are.
Chay Tiano what a tough guy you are behind your keyboard 😂
Chay out here in the UA-cam comments simping for Peter Jones lmao
"Little man"? Have you ever seen Peter Jones? He's many things, but he's certainly not little.
Their website doesn't look very appealing
It looks like they merged with another company called Redtooth poker which has a more modern website, I guess the nuts poker one isn't kept up to date?
Doesn't need to. The games are played in the pub and results recorded by the hosts. All the website is required for is so players can check their standings for the season.
This is a small time business and the individual pubs are high maintenance. It can be successful, but the day to day will always be a huge headache.
@@MrJamberee that's why the agents running the event on the night get such a high% of the takings.
“I haven’t been born yet, therefore I’m out.” - Theo the Foetus
I love how the negotiations went down like a poker game
Think his confidence is superficial. To say GREAT when Jonesie pulled the plug was very defensive....
I remember watching this one when it first came on, yet never seen it anywhere in any British pubs?? A shame it didn't go big as it is the sort of thing that would get me down the pub more often.
It's still going and it's in a LOT of pubs. The company was sold to Redtooth Poker by the guy.
He's the most dominant entrepreneur to ever enter the den.
Wow!!! All that without talking to the wall. Congratulations🎉
Duncan's offer ..and expertise was where he missed it . He should have known his background.
Really? Deborah told him about her assets. She dealt the way it should be. That guy Duncan is very arrogant and has an enormous ego.
For the segment at 4:11 can somebody provide a transcript for what they are saying, I tried using closed captions but it did not help. Are they talking about a registered website?
Aye.. He telt Peter, go on lad. Shout bollocks, same way as Wallace shouted freedom on brave heart.
I love it when the entrepreneur is in the driving seat!
