    Thank you for taking the time to put this video together. You are correct, this project is an absolute nightmare. One suggestion for future videos (it would be super helpful if you identified the socket size) and one thing I wish you would have said at the very beginning (to discharge the AC).

    Chevy GMC should be ashamed of themselves for all this.. it's ridiculous to have to go through all this for a heater core.

      They're designed like that on purpose, they need a way to get the vehicles back in the dealership shops.

    Supposedly there are 7 screws bolts that are accessed from the engine that release the entire dash. By Chilton.

    • @marianneoprisko7737
      @marianneoprisko7737 6 років тому +1

      My mistake the stupid heater assembly. God I miss my Nissan and my Toyota before that. Twenty minutes after draining the heater and only two bolts/two hose clamps. I hate Chevy.

    • @marianneoprisko7737
      @marianneoprisko7737 2 роки тому +1

      @@Lady-Carmakazi yes and it was a pain. The guy I had do it had the Chilton book in hand and You Tube on his phone. All got replaced but the steering wheel got twisted enough to break the air bag spring and horn mechanism in the wheel. A separate button for the horn (much nicer and more reliable than the wheel press) and $300 to replace the spring. What a pain! This is a normal repair/replacement. Now I am getting told about the oil pump failing at 200,000 miles? Why does anyone buy these things?

  • @christinagonzales1297

    Why can't you just unscrew from the underside? Like down by the cabin air filter?

  • @condor5635
    @condor5635 5 років тому

    Great video - question - coolant always flows through the core correct? There are no valves or anything modulating the flow through the core in other words. Heat therefore to the cabin is totally controlled via the blend door. Thanks for clarifying.

    My T connector to my heating core keeps licking on me after replacing it in less than a year. You think the heater core has something to do with it.

  • @marianneoprisko7737
    @marianneoprisko7737 6 років тому

    Had a guy do this for me. It took 17 hours. BUT now the air bags both say needs service and the passenger side no longer shows lon the firearm view mirror AND the horn doesn't work now. I will have to ask the Chevy certified mechanic that I know if this is a dealership fix only. He would not do it in the Texas heat and pouring rain.

    when you put in the new radio did u or the istaller use the stock antenna is there away of findin out if your anettena is bad....

    • @lucasbradshaw2545
      @lucasbradshaw2545  6 років тому

      sammantha lee I didn't put this one in, but have many times in other vehicles.
      First, I would check that the antenna cable is hooked up in the back of the radio. I have seen them come undone. Then check if it's connected at the antenna. Second, I would make sure the antenna cable is not pinched or cut using a multimeter(nothing crazy expensive. You can get one for $10 at WM). It's not common for radio antennas to go bad unless they were physically broken. Try unscrewing the antenna, clean up any corrosion or dirt on the threads/surfaces.
      Is your radio not receiving at all or is it just weak?

    i am not going to do this... do you know if there is a spray i can put on the window so it doesn't get fogged up. ? i open the windows and rain gets in :(

    • @lucasbradshaw2545
      @lucasbradshaw2545  8 років тому +1

      mimi taylor... instead of trying to deal with the fog, which would only get worse, deal with the coolant.
      remove the two hoses from the connections at the fire wall and couple them together. i had to do that for a week or two till i could afford the part and had time.

      i took my car to a mechanic. the minute i pulled in he told me that i had a head blown gasket. i told him no cause i replace the intake upper manifold 3 months ago. i told him i had a heater core problem . he told me he was going to replace it. he called me this morning and told me that he replaced the blown head gasket and that he put blue devil into my heating core. I AM SO FREAKING PISSED. any advice?

    • @chevyvantravel9735
      @chevyvantravel9735 8 років тому

      Well he ripped me off $250 for putting blue devil and changing my thermostat. my truck had white stuff which i assume was hot because he burned the inside of my door and my gloves. Anyway. Do you know why when i turn heat on ac tries to engage? should i disable my ac do you have a video on that. ??

    • @lucasbradshaw2545
      @lucasbradshaw2545  8 років тому

      mimi taylor i have no idea what you mean by "hot white stuff"... and i think you would know if you had a blown head gasket. blue devil is a band-aid fix that ends up coughing your thermostat and radiator. tough
