I could never figure out why this movie never took off and became successful. It cost about 15 million dollars to make in 1984 and it only made about 8 million at the box office. They were planning for it to be a trilogy but after the first one failed that was all scrubbed. It is a good action movie with a good soundtrack. I never understood why it never made it.

Kinda a take off from EDDIE & The CRUISERS .. Michael was the MAN In that Rock N Roll Show too .... Sadly that didn't do a lot Better .. :/ THIS IS ONE OF MY VERY FAV MOVIES!

I think back in the day people never understood the movie plot, is it in 50s or recent? All the ingredient of hit movie was there, boy next door lead actor, tempress lead actress & d
Badass villian & the music, it was just not for the mainstream.

There were quite a few of those in the early 80s. They failed at the box office but became big hits on video rental. Big Trouble in Little China and Silverado were the same.

Final Fight 3 music playing at the start & end of the video is so fitting seeing as Streets of Fire was actually Capcom's inspiration for creating the Final Fight games & even based one of the 3 main characters of the first game Cody Travers on Streets of Rage protagonist Tom Cody.

Great movie, great soundtrack! Michael Pare is the epitome of cool! One tough customer, resident bad ass. Between Michael Pare and James Remar they've got the world of badboys sewed up. Two good looking guys who are manly men, the type that always gets the hot girl, these two guys surely have it going on! When I see that Michael Pare is in a movie, I make it a point to watch it... Eddie & the Cruisers and Streets of Fire, need I say more?!.

"Streets of Fire" and "The Warriors" both cult classics and directed by Walter Hill.....have them both on CD and the actress Lynn Thigpen was in both movies, In The Warriors (1979) (She appears as the radio announcer, only her lips are seen.) & in Streets of Fire (1984) (She appears as a subway train engineer, reading in her train; brief dialogue with the Michael Parer.)
