This type of locomotives according to Soviet project P24, were produced in Poland (Fablok Chrzanów) under the designation Kp4 in an amount of 87 pieces for China in 1951-59
It was in my hometown. When I was a kid (around 1990), I took this kind of train(sit on the top of clay) to my grand mother's home in the Chinese New Year days....the 建材厂 made bricks by clay and the clay is from around 7 or 8 kilo meters nearby a mountain area. The factory digged really big and vast valley for the clay...I tried to go to the 建材厂 years ago. It was closed for a very lone time.
I notice they still have track walkers in China, or at least they did in 2011. It's nice to see the human aspect of railroading still in use there with not so much automation. Notice the guys riding the clay cars, ready to apply the brakes. The locomotive must be ancient, even back then. It still gets the job done. Hard working people. Nice to see.

谢谢你的视频 ua-cam.com/video/fzmfIJNS9ns/v-deo.html ))))

This is a historical video of Chinese industrial railroading. I am going to save and download this piece of history. Thanks to whom ever you are, this was first rate.
Thanks for sharing this and all of your other videos of steam trains in China, some of which are gone now. Modernizing is great and it brings many blessings, but the toll sometimes is that fewer people get to work together and an interesting way to get around goes away from us. It happens everywhere. It is sad that someone didn't think to purchase the railroad, clean it up and make it better, and offer it as a great way to travel! Thanks anyway for sharing with us a part of you and your home.
Homeboy kicked that line of cars nicely... Amazing how fast he switched back to Forward? That usually takes a minute or several seconds - 2:37 I hope they *preserve* a couple of these little steam locomotives with their tiny little drivers?
August 19th, 2014. A fascinating little railway. The C-2's are Russian derivatives, and the cars are based on an American design by Western Wheeled Scraper company. The "Dutch Drop" is interesting, and the reason we don't use it anymore in the US is too much chance of derailing the locomotive, damaging the cars, or injuring or killing the crew. I used to do this all the time in the 1970's on Penn Central, but now and then you could trap the locomotive if the train did not roll clear of the switch, then you were in a heck of a mess. In China at this time, they pay was little and the value of life industrially speaking was probably less. Pity the Chinese don't wake up and sell the C-2's for reasonable, what they want for them is laughable given the generally bad condition of industrial locomotives over there.... They could be rebuilt as either 24" or 36" gauge machines with a little work.
About them asking too much for these locos, perhaps you could get a better deal by going about your enquiries in a more casual way, as the Chinese are reputedly rather lax about ethical business practises, so you could try finding the shed supervisor/foreman or whatever the person in charge is called, ask if they have any locos lying around that they never use, make an offer and negotiate until both parties are satisfied! Also, since safety is not exactly given priority, you might be able to offer some extra muscle as a way to get in their good books. Surely the higher-ups would appreciate getting extra labour for free.
It's nice to see a steam engine still in use. The USA has a strategic oil reserve for emergencies. I think the USA should build modern steam engines for emergencies. If WWIII happens and lasts more than a day, and there are oil shortages, steam engines would help a lot. Many cities and regions of the USA can't feed themselves, they will need food shipped around. Plus people and other stuff shipped around. Modern steam engines would help a lot.
Robert Mackay Lyhus A prime example of that would be the Union Pacific 4-12-2. Rather small driving wheels and a top speed of 40 mph but could pull and pull and pull. An example of the speed version would probably be the 4-4-2 Atlantic type. Most had 80-90 inch driving wheels and regularly cruised at 90-100 mph.
Actually, we do the exact same thing in Western Australia, only we cal it, "fly shunting". Yes, we wear our high vis clothing at the same time. LOL.
