    This actually really works. Forced myself to swing past the ball rear palm out club face wide open. All i did was hit draws. The more I tried to shank it the tighter the draw. One caviat for me. Head has to stay behind the ball. If I slid ahead the ball would push.

    Absolutely Overhand! Any pulling the club with the bones of our hands on the grip of their club is “stupid is as stupid does”. All our bones through our our body are only designed to only push. If we activate our muscles in our hand to pull more then they should at the bottom of our swing we deactivated the second pendulum motion of the lagging of our club. Continue to do this and we may as well throw our clubs away. Cheers

    This is absolutely correct. Trying to manipulate hands or body on any point in the downswing is impossible. Release means release which is to let go and let club head rotate around and be square to target line in a flash of a second. Keep expanding on this please

      This all because of the magic and genius engineering of a golf club. Almost no one looks at a golf club and thinks, "how does it work?" Everyone assumes they know how it works and almost no one actually does. There's a reason it hasn't changed in 400 years ... it works! When you understand how it works you can let it do what it's designed to do instead of trying to make it do what you think it should do.

    As always this is spot-on. Effortless-Power vs Powerless-Effort. Trying to square the club-face at the ball is not only very difficult but quite frankly a game of wish for the best. Squaring the clubface is the exact thing that leads to deceleration of the clubhead and you need acceleration and not deceleration. I always tell people to swing with relaxed muscles for control because it just leads to fluid movements. #Tall&Lose

    Your insights and how one should perceive the swing are fantastic. Where has this instruction been all my life. Thank you so much for sharing. I watched your primary holey grail vid 4 weeks ago, had a tee time the next morning. Thought to myself it would be crazy to try and implement a brand new swing that quick. Went to the practice tee at the course an hour before tee time. I was shocked! I was hitting all my clubs crazy good. Of course, I didn't have the same success during the round. I believe it was because my nerves/anxiety got the best of me and I tightened up and didn't just let it go. This vid is another piece of the puzzle. Thanks again.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf

      Yes. I'm not a big fan of driving ranges. It's not easy to take the driving range swing to the course. I like people to try new things on the course that way you never have to bring it to the course. I had a home course that rarely charged me and I could try all sorts of new ideas on the course which also gave me time to think between each shot. Most people don't have that opportunity. You really have to be willing to play really badly in a round when you're trying something new. Many times I'd say to my friends, "I have no idea where this is going or if this is going to work but I'm trying something new." Most of the time I'd play really well because I had no expectations about playing well.
      It is hard to bring a new swing to the course the first time you try it. It'll come in time. Go to the range. Stripe some balls and LEAVE WITH CONFIDENCE. Do not stay there and hit so many balls that you start to fail. Just hit enough to reinforce your confidence and then walk away while you still want to hit more. If you can't hit them any better, you're done. There's no purpose to keep hitting balls.
      I've heard that, "Where were you 30 years ago," type of thing a lot here on the channel. I didn't think anyone would watch or listen to what I had to say, but I was wrong.

At the range today with your swing and loving the sweet sound of compression. I would like to know more about where your right elbow is on the downswing. Do you "cock it in" to layoff or shallow the club? I have seen where you want us to rotate the hands clockwise to "load them up" before they rotate counter-clockwise. Just would like a bit more detail on your thoughts and feelings about what the right elbow is up to. Thank you.

I was struggling with the driver going right two out of three times. Out of bounds!, hitting 3, approach on-to the green 4, a put or two... that’s a bogey or db at best. Who can play army golf lime that. He helped with the driver and Hughes with the iron part of it. The opening and the space to rotate shoulders and hips and the just let it rip with a soft grip.Its very fluid and comfortable. 👍🏼

Bradley also stressed to me a 4:30 path of the club on the downswing which had an open club face and that"s the mental part having the feeling of that open club face. Takes awhile to trust that the club face will square. Props to Overhand golf and Bradley. Hit them great Jorge.

    @OverhandGolf like you discussed with chasing lag, I've been trying and trying to square the club face more and more to get rid of my slice. Stronger grip, adjust wrist bow at the top, stop over-the-top. All that happened was more tension and an unnatural swing that constantly chicken winged. It was only when I was trying to hit fades or punch shots out of the trees that I would have solid contact. This video answers why. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and your putting these videos out for all of us. You may cure the slice forever!

    This advice to cure a slice is brilliant. You briefly mention in the video that your "Trail hand is the power hand & the lead hand is for controlling the release of the club" @3.50. Can you please explain to me is the trail hand action predominantly controlling the release thru impact or is it my lead hand intentionally & deliberately dominating this action by releasing or actively uncocking (thumb up to thumb down into & through impact?...Does one control the other or are both hands releasing together through impact without any deliberate or forced action?.
    I am loving your video's & am more than happy to make a donation to you for your excellent knowledge. Looking forward to your reply & explanation to my question which has confused me greatly in 50 years of loving the game of golf.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  3 роки тому

      You've probably seen seval more of my videos by now and found the answer to your question. If not, No, there is no deliberate release with the hands or thumbs. You just swing the club and let it fly through the ball. Your hands need to allow the club to do what it needs to and is trying to do by it's engineering and physics. If you're swinging naturally you're using both hands but because you're probably right handed it's doing more work without conscious effort. Take a look at the thumb video. I think that'll clear things up a bit as well. Thanks.

    OMG Greg, i have found you again.
    My swing lately has gone down the toilet and i was absolutely lost as what to do, then a thought entered my head about the Holy Grail and you.
    So i went through the Holy Grail video and many others on Saturday night so i could practise them at the range today.
    Just dam Greg, i was hitting some great shots but also was hitting some nasty pulls and a few duck hooks.
    Now looking at this video i realise i was closing the clubface by force and not doing what you teach.
    So would i be right in saying it should feel a little like when swinging that you are leading with the heel of the club when doing the Holy Grail swing then your arms automatically square the club?
    Cheers Paul.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, that's what it should feel like - heel first. In order for the club to close naturally it has to approach the ball open or what feels like open, which really isn't. If you close the face manually you'll either do it too early and then it'll be reopening through impact or if you can hold it closed you'll almost always over-do it. You have to imagine the ball is not going to fly toward the target but instead down and through the ground to the right. There is a ton of engineering in a golf club that makes this happen. It's not just a stick with a chunk of metal at the end. There is no better design for a golf club than what we have now. It's and awesome tool if you know how to use it. Almost no one does know how to use it, and they try to force it to do what they think it should. That's like hammering with the side of the hammer and saying, "this thing sucks." No it doesn't, you just don't know how to use it properly.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  9 місяців тому +1

      I look tense? Ok, I haven't heard that before. I feel very relaxed almost always. The only time I might be tense it trying to flop a ball off a tight lie, against the grain to a tight pin. I usually have people say to me, "I love the way you just get up there and hit it."
      Tension is terrible for the golf swing. It prevents things from moving as fast as they should or rotating properly and it makes it really hard to actually start moving efficiently.

    • @maxwired2235
      @maxwired2235 9 місяців тому

      @@HolyGrailOfGolf Thanks for your response. I agree, tension is is terrible in any athletic endeavor, and that’s what I meant. You’re more muscular than the majority of golfers and at times your muscles 💪 look tensed up along with the sound of your voice as you’re demonstrating a swing method. You’re a solid muscular dude with a great swing dynamics and communication skills. How do you personally keep tension out of your swing? Also, do you use a trigger during setup to start your back swing…ie a bump, knee movement, or head turn like Nicklaus etc.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  9 місяців тому +1

       @maxwired2235 I think the thing that causes tension the most is lack of confidence. If you're confident you're going to hit a good shot you're looking forward to it rather than dreading it.
      As far as my voice goes, I've never been able to breath well from my nose so when I talk to the camera like this I run out of breath. I hadn't discovered this until I started making videos as I'd usually never talk to anyone for that long. Anyway, I'm getting better ...
      I do use a trigger but it's more of a natural one. I know I'm going to push forward with my back foot to start the swing so my body just does what it needs to right before that happens. I don't think about it. It call it using the gas and the break, like in a car. First I step on the gas, that turns me away and then I slam on the brake and that turns me through.
