    Ulnar deviation when done purposely is the reason your ball doesn't fly as far and straight as it should. People who ulnar deviate think that they need to point the shaft at the ball in order for the clubhead to make contact with the ball. Ulnar deviation happens but not intentionally. We actually need to resist it until we can't and then let it happen naturally. That's how the clubhead rips through impact with effortless power. As adults we over-think the engineering of the club and think that we need to help it strike the ball when the reality is that we'd have to do something really odd to prevent it from striking the ball. We have to learn to hit the ball as if we don't care where it goes in order for it to go straight and far. I know it sounds crazy but that's exactly what has to happen. Think of a child who doesn't care at all where the ball goes. They just like hitting it and that's tall they're doing, but the ball goes straight and far. Why is that? It's because they don't know enough about the engineering to care about it and they're just letting it do what it is made to do.

    I just found your channel and it makes a lot of sense. I was hit by a drunk driver a year ago and am 58.....this should allow me to get my length back. I've fought a huge slice with my driver all year and lost so much length but I think it's because I've been unconsciously protecting my back and not just letting go. Can't wait to put this into practice. It looks much more natural to me thx

    I've put your concepts to work. Actually all you are doing is dumbing it down for me. Lol... I couldn't figure all this out for myself. How a pro can bring the club from the the top down and through the ball. It's taken about 45days of watching your videos going to the course before I now can swing the club without any effort. I laugh at myself when I put pressure on a shot and revert back to the over the top swing. The key for me is I have to trust the swing and swing in a relaxed move. I'm 72 yrs old and shot 79 yesterday. I shot my age a month ago. My handicap is 16. In the process of trusting this swing I have scored 92. I just kept trusting what you have talked about hitting the ball waist high and now it becoming automatic. Thanks again for your insight becoming realized

    I have found that swinging the club with very relaxed hands & wrists letting them release outward in the downswing i don't have to even think of body rotation as this just happens very naturally & easily in concert with arms in the downswing & well past impact. This action in itself is creating far more centrifugal speed than you can ever hope to achieve by actively pulling with the hands. I have now completely given away any swing thought of pulling & turning 'fast' nor deliberately with my body & lead arm.
    It is making my swing very easy & relaxed but not sloppy. I feel a very Freddie Couples type of motion.
    I am only 1xgame into using your swing technique & will let you know of my progress.
    The action of doing this i am finding is very natural & 'easy' which is the key & this all happens if you just let the overhand release freewheel & happen...No pulling with the arms to try to falsely create the so called lag which is a ball striking misnomer & destroyer.

      Yes, it's amazing how well the golf club actually works when you're using it properly. It's a hammer on a really long stick so you really don't have to force it or swing it hard to make the ball go far. When you get it, you know it. It's like a lightbulb goes off in your brain that says, "Why have I been trying so hard all this time. It's easy!"
      I'm happy to hear that I've done another person good! How 'bout a tip?

      People pay hundreds for a new driver or irons and hundreds more on DVDs and lessons that do them little or no good. I have truly simplified the swing to the point of almost near ridiculousness and it's transforming people's golf games and only a few nice people have given me a donation.
      I don't mean to guilt you into anything. You do what feel is right. My wife keeps saying to me, "Why are you just giving it away for free? You're wasting your time!"
      I'd like to prove her wrong.

    This is why shaft flex and controlling which way it flexes early is so important, try doing it with something like a broomstick that doesn't flex, to bottom out correctly without hurting your wrists the correct start down is crucial, the incorrect start down (pulling early not dropping and hitting late) will make the stick swing around and over the ball, a flexible shaft likewise can cause the flex to throw the club away from the ball even more than the broomstick if manipulated incorrectly on the way down.

How do you/we use this swing and get the clubface to be square for at least 2" at bottom of arc and not have to place the ball in the exact right spot every time? @@HolyGrailOfGolf Thanks for your quick response. The right over left video does make a good point and for me at least helps me see/feel how the wrists/hands should be releasing through impact. Maybe the way that these two notions (right hand over left and being underneath the club) jive is that by being underneath the club at the beginning of the downswing, we get the club started down on the right path (and like you said, you only need a little bit of this feeling of being underneath the club) but then as you continue with the downswing your focus is releasing the club properly which keeps the right hand over the left through impact and into the finish. Yeah, that's pretty good. • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, the minute you take over control the natural timing is gone and unless you know exactly now the natural timing works ... well, then you've got it wrong. What most people do is manually close the club way too early thinking that will prevent the ball from going right. What actually happens is after they've closed the face, they apply force to the handle which causes the face to open through impact because the toe was in front of the shaft instead of trailing and catching up. Like getting the cart in front of the horse. I recently discovered this video ua-cam.com/video/PyeDPyfex9M/v-deo.html where a person describes, and gives a name to, the phenomena of the naturally closing clubface.
      The interesting thing is that it's literally impossible to swing the club through impact while leaving the face wide open. People who slice believe with all their heart that this will happen unless they prevent it, which actually causes their problems in the first place. I tell these people to try and hit the ball dead right, their biggest fear, with the face wide open. To their amazement they can't do it. The ball goes straight and they tried to hold the face open! The only way to convince them is to have them prove themselves wrong.

    Overhand Golf--if one watches Tommy Fleetwood warming up, (and it is unclear to me exactly why HE as top professional does it), but he swings around his body from about 3/4 backswing until follow through, all the way with extreme radial deviation. I suspect he is trying to keep some arm/body connection. But if you do this, not only do you get that connection, but rotating your body and your connected arms as fast as you can, loose supple wrists, that as you approach your arms swinging directly in front of you, that your wrists NATURALLY ULNAR DEVIATE. Combines a few elements of connection and speed and training wrists to be "loose".

    My feet are consistently aimed 30-40 yards right of my target.A habit I just can't break.Does this possibly cause swing problems?

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Absolutely yes! What you're doing is artificially moving your right hip out of your way. If you were to aim straight, if you still have the problem that caused this, you'll find that your right hip gets in your way or partially in your way. What you need to do is hit a bunch of balls straight forward with your stance 45º open. This will teach you how to properly move the pelvis out of the way so that when you stand square you can do it. Another problem this causes is that when you take the club away, most likely you'll take it away parallel to your stance which will be way too far inside. From there, when you get to the top you know if you swing at it the way you took it back it's going dead right so you have to alter the path of the club into the ball to attempt to direct it toward the target and you've got a classic over the top motion. Finally, you've probably also had a lot of problems with direction so you're afraid to let the face close naturally fearing a hook or pull and so you probably hit weak high right shots. Am I right?
      One more thing. You know you're going to need the front foot to leverage yourself against so you're putting that out ahead in order to do so, but most likely you actually don't and end up hitting off the back foot and front foot ends up spinning out.

    • @Grayback1973
      @Grayback1973 3 роки тому

      @@HolyGrailOfGolf Thanks for that feedback. I do hit off my back foot for sure.Something I'm doing to try and correct it without hitting balls is just putting a ball on the ground and picking a target.Because I naturally feel square with feet being so closed I pick a different target that is about 30 yards left of the actual target.I position my feet for that target and when I look at the actual target it feels incredibly open.To my amazement when I put the shaft down on my toe line I am dead square to the target!

      It should explain how to hit off the front foot. Golf does not work the way most people think it does.
      Is there chance that your head is tilted and that's giving you the illusion of aiming correctly?
      Oh, try this: It's what the S. Korean golfers do:
      1. Pick a spot a few feet in front of your ball between your ball and the target. This is now your target or aim point.
      2. Take your address parallel to the line between your ball and the aim point. Do not point your stance at the aim point.
      3. DO NOT RAISES YOUR HEAD AND TILT IT LEVEL TO LOOK AT THE TARGET, but rather look at it sideways, with your head tilted. Just turn your head, don't' turn and tilt.
      (It'll feel weird at first but when we desire to look at the target with our eyes level with the horizon it makes us want to stand up straight. The same goes for putting!)
      4. Take one look at the target then never look at it again. You're aimed properly and you have the proper club. Why do you need to keep checking?
      If you had a mechanical golfing machine you'd aim it at the target, load it with the proper club and pull the trigger. You're no different.

      Oh, yeah. Absolutely. She goes after it. The strange thing about golf is that you can see anything you want to in almost anyone's swing. Everyone who hit the ball great, like Brook, has at some point learned to swing the club in the proper direction, which is not toward the target. Most people just kinda pack that away in their brain and don't think about it, but they know to do it. Children figure this out within minutes because they don't care where the ball goes they only want to hit it. You should be able to see the HG swing in every good ball striker. @@louispounds7486 so if you were to tee up a ball like in baseball the juniors would hit off the little poles and the ball is tee'd up for them at chest/hip height. If you can imagine that your golf ball is also tee'd up around your shoulder level / eye level then it would help a lot, reason being, is if you can precept the ball being at eye / shoulder level, the DOWN vanishes, and theoretically you shouldn't be putting any force down.. you're not going after something on the ground, because in your mind you're perceiving it as if it was higher up. You have to set-up and stare at the ball and slightly tilt your head up. once you perceive the ball higher, your back swing can only be one way, because in reality if it's tee'd up at your shoulder level the backswing is predetermined, not a single soul would take it back any other way.
      it's all about perceiving it differently. You'll be surprised on if you don't add/think/try to get the club head DOWN to a ball on the ground, it'll happen naturally due to our forward bend in set-up and relationship to the ball..
      granted, if that relationship remains consistent from address to backswing.
