Today I handed over my drivers license from Moldova, they gave me a temporary one and said it could be extended if my papers aren't ready in three months. But after watching your video I'm thinking maybe I made a mistake, because this is absolutely insane. Having a translator for the practice exam? Bringing your own car as well? They rip everyone off with fees and taxes. Also, please let me know what school you had your practice lessons at. Thanks! Great tutorial btw.
Hi Mario, thanks for the great video! But one correction point - You said exchanging your driver's licence and having a temporary one, will work only within the first 6 months after you move to Denmark. Actually, this is not correct, for example, I did my driver's license exchange (with 2 exams) after 8 years of living in Denmark and I know a bunch of many other people who did the same. At least, their applications were not rejected by Borgerservice and I have not seen any written evidence of this 6 months rule anywhere (maybe I overlooked it, I don't know)
Yes, I also exchanged mine after almost ten years in Denmark. You can always exchange it. (I had to do the exams yes). Thing is, at least for most people you won't get a temporary license if you decide to start the exchange after that long time. (You'll get a temp license only once you passed the exams).
One addition comment. In my case I had a DL from a non-EU country (Turkey, from 2006), then I got a USA DL in 2008. When I went to borgerservice, I was hoping to exchange USA to DK without any exams. But they discussed internally and decided that the first issued country is Turkey. So final decision is that I need to take both exams. I passed theory in first attempt and waiting for theory right now :)
@@MarioScianHQ It seems very strict but also I could just not show my Turkish license and move with USA one. No one would know which one issued first. However, I do not want to be the system breaker. Rule is rule :)
what are you talking about with the exams? you just pay the 485dkk for the license and you even get to keep the eu license until your danish one is ready and there are no exams.
I am from Belarus And I have the situation, that you have with Argentina. Driving license from chilie, Brazil is OK, but from Argentina no. And from Russia, Ukraine is OK, but in case of Belarus no And why???? I don't understand this system at all...
actually for the driving exam you need to speak/understand danish. otherwise you need to hire a translator-- even if you want to take the driving exam in english.
great video mario! if i may add some other details: § one can take the theory exam in english and other languages but it depends wildly on the town that one lives. for instance i live in mørkøv but the nearest exam center for english theory test is in roskilde! § you cannot book the theory exam timeslot yourself. a driving instructor must book it for you. at least this was the case for me. cough up another 200 kr. for his 'inconvenience' :| § you cannot take the driving exam in english despite everyone speaking perfect english (wow!) you must take it with a tolk (translator). that is additional cost (~1000 kr). if you know some basic danish that is enough. then again, this is my take. § færdselsstyrelsen/kommune will take away your original foreign drivers license. you won't get it back after you get your danish one! yoink! if you really want it you must submit a written request. but in this case, they will give it back but take away your danish one (jesus christ) § do not open the lægeattest (doctor's report) envelope! the doctor may not tell you that. if you get curious and open it before submitting it to the kommune (borgerservice) it might complicate things! § this is my personal take: do not tell the doctor if you have a pre-existing condition. for example i know a new zealander that told his doc that he had some respiratory condition back then when. it really complicated things and added another ½ a year to the process and he had to back and forth a lot of documents.
Most awaited video

@@MarioScianHQ ok, this is new to me, but some kommunes might use different approaches as you said.
@@MarioScianHQit means a new comer can apply for DL exchange and get the temporary one before passing the exams? How long that temporary DL is valid?

Wow that’s crazy! I know from friends in similar situation who could change automatically, this looks so arbitrary I would be so pissed in your case 😀

of course, they gave you the hardest option. not surprised. this being the danish bureaucracy.
Hey Mario, thanks for this. Was it any different to exchange the license from Argentina being registered as Italian in the Danish Borger ?
Your nationality doesn’t matter, it’s about where your license was issued
Hi Mario, can you share the links of the websites from where you were giving the mock exams. Thanks.
I did almost all the tests in prove.dk and the last days made some other ones as well
I just handed in my diving license and they issued me a temporary driving license even though I have been living here for almost 5 years.
Wow lucky !
@@MarioScianHQ How much time did it take them to validate your licence ? I was told that it could take anywhere from 4-5 weeks to 6-7 months.
For his long this temporary license is valid?

If you're not EU you might need exams

Bus driver license can also be exchanged?
No idea
Great video Mario!
Can you please suggest any websites to practice theory exams?
I used mostly prove.dk
Do you need to speak/read Danish in any part of the process?
No

Sir, good day!..my diving license issued from Saudi Arabia..can i used in Denmark?
Yes for the first six month, then you need to exchange as per this video
U.k license to dk license , took 6months 😊
Jealous!
Did you need to take any practical and theory test?
From Greek to Danish license, took 1month.
Lucky!
great video mario!
