Mechwarrior: Revival

- The trailer for a proposed crowdfunded Mechwarrior/Battletech film. Unfortunately we were not able to obtain the legal rights to the IP for funding. But hey, at least we got some stompy animation out of it.
SFX: MWO
Music: NGNG Soundtrack, "Falling"
Battletech really could be Game of Thrones in space. The lore is rich, with I'm sure dozens of different points for good storytelling to occur. I really hope it happens someday.
And it was out before Game of Thrones.... So Game of Thrones is Battletech in low fantasy.
Seriously speaking, though, much of the GoT-style stuff did come out after GoT did. Don't know if the authors ever read it first, though.
I don't know if a GoT-like Battletech show is actually a good idea. Due to budget constraints, early seasons of GoT were heavy on political maneuvering and no actual big battles. Do we want to see a Battletech show with no battles and no Battlemechs?
I actually think the animated series made a good move by focusing on a few warriors on the front lines rather than the political maneuvering at the top.
Battletech could have a Game of Thrones setting for each faction.
This is Dan and Dave we like to put our own input in here
@@Wintermute01001 The way I remember it, GoT season one was the Stark family and Danny for the most part. Sure it showed their interactions with the rest of the realm, little glimpses into the other houses, but it started relatively small. It grew over time to accommodate the greater machinations at play. The show was able to pace itself, slow and steady as it revealed the grand web of factional politics and characters. I think that would be the best way of doing it.
I'm not a Rasalhague guy, my loyalties lie with the Federated Suns and always have. That said, Rasalhague could certainly be that small beginning and they could definitely pull sympathy like the Starks did. By all means start with a smaller nation, start with a smaller cast sure, but it would be criminal not to indulge in the same kind of natural growth that GoT had.
Rasalhague: YAY WE'RE FREE AT LAST!
Fate: Hahahaha, no.
Well, it did kind of work out for them in the end when they realized they had more in common with the Ghost Bear remnants than with any of the spheroids surrounding them :P.
@@GaldirEonai yeah, they did get a more happy ending with the ghost bear dominion in the end didnt they.
@@MortarGuyX Mhmm. The Rasalhagues pretty much assimilated the Ghost Bears into their Norse culture.
@@NorthernNorthdude91749 Rasalahauge and Ghost Bears met, decided that this worked out well for everyone involved, and founded Space Sweden.
@@unimprezzedmclastname4220 Eh the bears, especially the warrior Caste still maintain serious separation. And will violently enforce that to prevent the warriors from cultural drifting too far.
This was the best BattleTech had ever looked until about 12 hours ago with the Twycross trailer drop. So good to see your art work still there. THIS ONE IS GOING TO WILD!!!!
I like how everyone complains about how "anime" it is but all of the stuff depicted in here happens all the time in Battletech. Everything depicted in this video you can pretty much do in the board game, there's most likely a rule for it.
+Ayy Lmao Oh god there are rules! *has war flashbacks*
Actually, I think that was a Dire Wolf.
D.C. Bruins is this thing seriously still in the works? Thought it was dead in the water man, my hopes, my dreams, they return!!
I guess people don't realize BattleMechs are actually EXTREMELY agile. Mainly because they don't know shit about BattleTech I guess.
@ErgonomicChair Depends on the mech. Mechs like the Locust, Commando, and MLX? Yeah, thats believable. Mechs like the Atlas and Dire, which were explicitly stated to be sluggish but powerful? Not really.
Take this to Catalyst games and show this to the creators. This........this needs to happen. Please don’t give up and please make this happen. Hell show it to George Ledoux and have him help promote it by offering to have him voice the characters. He’s always been a passionate Battletech guy and has helped fan fiction writers.
I love this animation. As a fellow Rasalhague fan, this seriously slaps. I'm even running an audiobook series on UA-cam that follows a resistance movement in the region during the Clan Invasion. If I had a ton of money to offer you, I'd suggest a collab.
@@DCBruinsMedia "A Twist of the Knife" is the name of it. I believe you found the first installment already.
Best Hunchback visuals EVER. I never gave that glass cannon any credit before. Now it has my respect. :)
mechs just don't move that way imo thats a different ip like gundam where the robots are as fluid moving as a human..
@@homelessEh'Mechs are in fact able to move with near-human maneuverability and reflexes, partially thanks to the way they tie in with the MechWarriors' own sense of balance, but the HunchBack near body-slamming a Timber Wolf over a cliff was a HUGE exaggeration.
@@JimBobJoeB0b Cut to 3052, on Alyina when Kai-Allard-Liao tackles a clan mech off a cliff into the ocean, in a Centurion.
Jacob McEwen LINKS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!
@@JimBobJoeB0b It's from either book 2 or 3 of the Blood of Kerensky trilogy
I said this on your Frihet video, but I'll say it again here: your work is fucking fantastic! Just a perfect combination of action and emotion, and manages to tell a story without even using dialogue.
Also, I like how you showed Mackies being assembled at the beginning. That was a nice touch.
A hunch against a timber wolf... with a clanner pilot... good luck! Dire wolf against an atlas, unless that's an SLDF Royal Guard variant it won't be much of a fight.
If i or any Battletech fan won the lottery, i would heavily invest into making this a solid fan fueled reality. GOT is awesome. Just imagine if we had the proper funding.
Cheers all
Been years. Still think it is better than most stuff coming out these days. Still want an actual series.
Over the years I have watched this countless times, it's just beyond awesome. The moment at the end when the MWO sounds kick in and the Atlas and Dire Wolf go to town on each other, goosebumps man.
Ok this needs to be a series seriously. Battletech anime?! Sign me up!!!
The is outstanding! So sorry you couldn't get the rights, BT needs an outlet for the amazing universe it has. For the FRR, drive the invaders out of the sphere!
The clans got what was coming to them though in the end.
@Needa Pickle Videos Yes...enjoy rolling around in your own filth just as you have done for the past several centuries. The descendants of Kerensky came back to put right what Amaris made wrong and you stravags threw it away.
@@NodDisciple1 One word clanner, Tukayidd
@@kilowhiskyforge4337 Not to mention by the time of the IlClan Era, a SPHERE-born Warrior of Clan Wolf is the IlKhan.
And all of the invading clans more or less just became new states in the IS, with trade ties and everything.
So even when the Clans "won," they lost. Because for all their "Genetic Superiority," it was a freeborn who ended up leading the ones that didn't fuck off and become isolationist.
So much for "Bred for War, superior to you Inner Sphere Surats."
You laugh at the man with the katana, but if he can do a melee attack it'll force a piloting check and could knock the Dire Wolf over, thus beginning the cycle of:
Try to stand, fail, falls
Try to stand, fail, falls
Try to stand, fail, falls, pilot blacked out
The odds are slim, but never zero.
I'm loving the norse style neurohelmet!
0:36 love how that atlas move. that's one of the reasons i love atlas in MWO
im genuinely curious if that character we keep seeing, the one with the Hunchback, is the same from Frihet.... if so, i really want more of these top tier animations telling the story of the RR and the invasion
and now i know the source of the mechwarrior animation gifs i can find via discord. Keep up the good work!
This is the animated series Battletech deserves.
Congrats on making the locust actually look cool. That takes talent!
Remember there is a tabletop game called "battletech a game of armored combat".
This needs to be made into a movie.
Watched this several times now, and it looks amazing. Your mechs are as fluid as I see them in my head- I should point out that the Locust and the Hunchback have been two of my goto faves for 30 years and deny any accusations of impartiality. I love how it looks like you' were setting the trenchcoat character up as the leader of the resistance- callsign Odin? Lost his eye and gained wisdom? I do wish you'd been able to finish this, because it feels like you've got a great story here, slapping the Dragon and poking the Bear.
I see the FRR banner burning... It must be extinguished with the spilt blood of the vat born!
I'm so sad this didn't get made. I love the animation style and the story looks like it would have been great
I would pay seriously good money to see some Battletech unfold. The fall of the SLDF and foundation of the clans would make a fantastic series
This is so fucking cool. The thing that just about every Battletech game has been missing is straight up melee, big stompy mechs duking it out with their fists, punching through cockpit hatches, ripping weapons off, crazy shit like that. I hope Battletech gets some sort of show soon, a Netflix series, Amazon, live action, 2D, CGI, anything would be so sick.
I still can't wait to see this done. I hope it's still even just a backround project.
How does this not have more views?!? Also
Daaaaayyyyuuummmm!!! Somebody needs to get Mr. Netflix on the phone! They can make a decent comic series about Pacific rim, this would kick so much more ass!
1:25 this short sequence of running has lived in my brain rent free for years
The balls you got to pull a katana out with a mech coming straight at you
Netflix needs to get the battletech license hand D.C. Bruins a fat check and they'd have the best new animated series in the bag.
It looks like trailer to bigger animation
I beg you, more!!!
Here, take my money... FOR THE CLANS!!!
7 years later, this is still a phenomenal release and has never really been topped.
(though your most recent one w/ HPG maybe matches it....)
Great work!
I'm sorry, what. A fucking sword.
Probably a Drac. They tend to be crazy about Katanas. And dying with a sword in hand would probably be up their alley.
all i want is a one hour loop of the circle of death at the end...
Wish the mechs in game moved like they do in the animations. So much more fun to be had
The games? They are mostly in universe entertainment products dating from the first half of the 31st Century. People knew rebuilt mechs and new designs were coming out, and that things like neurohelmets were getting fixed after the Helm Memory Core, but only people who had need to know really got to see SLDF grade machines in all their glory. (My in-universe story and I'm sticking to it)
We are Jade Falcon, great among the Clans. We are warriors who fight with the strength of the Falcon’s claw, and ascend to the heavens on wings of jade.
We remember with the clarity of falcon flight the words of Kerensky. Through the smoke of time, he speaks to us, his chosen, and urges us onward with the promise of Eden. We will retake what is ours by right: that shining jewel, Terra.
Not the vastness of space, nor the Wolf’s obstinate howl, will stay us from our righteous goal. We are Crusaders and will trample all who stand in our way.
Would love to see more like this.
damn this looks so good. They captured the imposing doom of the Daishi coming out of the mist so perfectly, not to mention the really smoooth animations
Imagine this and NOT Game of Thrones. People really have a tendency to choose the worse options.
Ah, yes, a katana vs a mech. Balls of steel, brains of toilet paper...
MAKE THIS A TV SHOW LIVE ACTION NOW!!!!!
Love this anime style, so beautiful! I would pay to see this any day of the week!!!! Just bloody awesome!!!!! Really captures the Battletech/Mechwarrior theme completely.
So this is what a finished work looks like ;D I just came from another video of yours about the starting out of the young mechwarrior in her Hunchback in this video. Your work is fantastic. A lovely blend of action, storytelling and emotion without dialogue. Well done :D
I still like the unfinished artwork of your other video believe it or not. It has a certain raw quality to it :D
wow I've never seen anything more beautiful in my life.
Wow, they actually made the jegermech look cool
animation really gives me a Dead Leaves vibe. good stuff
GOD DAMNIT this still upsets me. we could have had greatness
1:45 Bro thinks he's Raiden (MGRR)
STANDING HERE
As much as I'd love for this to become the next LA series, I just have the worst feeling the production team would eff it up like HALO
If were lucky MW5 will take off with more than just the very specific audience it currently has and things like this will get a more in depth look at. we might be on the verge of a new era!
A katana against a Daishi/Dire Wolf? Man! And I thought Wrath from FMA: Brotherhood taking out a medium tank with a sword was anime bullshit crazy enough
Vibro-katana too. And the pilot may have disembarked to go hand to hand with the guy. The Clans are big on personal challenges and honor like that.
He watched "Attack On Titan" too many times.
Vibroblades are badass - techs use them to strip off damaged armour.
@@Hopfolk, they also make them Mech-sized. All the bonuses of a Sword, but have a set size and damage when activated, along with heat buildup.
Last Friday I took 3 custom 30 tonners that were only armed with ECM and a Large Vibroblade, but could run up to 151 kph without activating its Supercharger (i.e. 9/14 (18)). 14 damage in melee off of a 30 tonner is no joke. Unfortunately, all I faced were a bunch of jump-happy punchers that night. They managed more damage than the customized Banshee I made armed with Claws and Talons, though (namely because the Banshee couldn't keep up, even with MASC and a Supercharger, and only managed to be in range to hit one thing all night).
@@Hopfolk Standing here, I realize you were
Just like me trying to make history.
But who's to judge the right from wrong.
When our guard is down I think we'll both agree.
That violence breeds violence.
But in the end it has to be this way.
Bring this back.
Would love to revisit, rewrite and start again on this someday, yeah...
@@DCBruinsMedia with the IP being what it is, I know legality for it is a pain in the ass, but their are ways around it, as pioneered by others of whom you are in contact with. Generate some conversation on how, and best of luck my dude. You really have a special passion in your talent and a good network.
love the music, too.
This was freaking awesome, well done
Ah, so this is the original! Wish I had found this sooner.
If that's a Jade Falcon pilot, you've got a decent chance of them meeting your challenge of a drawn Katana. I think. Their founder made a legend with one she used.
@@DCBruinsMedia Capellan fuckery BEYOND THE PERIPHERY none the less.
Yeah, it was the Capellans.
Brought a sword to a gunfight. And WON.
Commentators: Keep Game of Thrones (ESPECIALLY the last, um three? seasons) AWAY from MY 'MECHS (please).
make it happen! you have the powah!
You guys should try again. Maybe something like the Astartes style warhammer short fiilms.
Oh jeez what was that guy thinking, standing up to a Daishi (Dire Wolf) like that? Sorry man, but your little katana ain’t no match for 100 tons of walking death with big shooty guns. Stompy robots ALWAYS win this fight.
Well if he offers a batchall to the pilot...
@@badbeardbill9956 Yeah that makes sense. The pilot would have to get out and fight him wouldn't he?
@@Usernamesdontmatter1 Yes.
...unless it was just a merc with a salvaged Dire Wolf, who'd promptly just un-exist the sword guy with a single laser while scoffing "fucking clanners lol".
@@Maverick2736 Its the 3050's. All the Merc's in Rassalhague are dead, dying, or running. Captain Drac and his lighting katana might just get that duel.
I still think your atlas near the end was the reason an atlas got a PPC quirk...
Which I don't mind as that same atlas is the one I used to replicate your build :D
Man a Battletech series a la Clone wars 2003
Holy shit I just found this and it's fucking awesome!
This is fugg'n awesome! I love it and shows how things go down in BTech perfectly!
This is so damn cool. I absolutely love it! I really hope we get to see more!
The Hunchback flying punch on what looks like a smaller madcat was worth the watch.
That was a fullsize Mad Cat.
WOW!! Just WOW!! Amazing video!!😮 The vision that you put in it is the one that I have playing Battletech😍 And that Hunchback is the boss!! Please give us more of your fantastic work sir🙋👏👏👏
Wow, you made a Jagermech look cool. I didn't think that was possible :D.
1:58
That. That right there. That is pure Battletech.
The random Michael Jackson guy drawing a katana against an oncoming Warhawk made me laugh.
Sence this is battle tech and not metal gear. He better have a plan to trick the pilot to come down or he is dying like an idiot.
@@venom0825 Clan honor. It's micro batchall. "I have my blade, my honor and poor fashion sense. What do you bring?" Any Clanner worthy of his genes should accept it. It's not like Clan fashion isn't worse.
HEE HEE..... YOWWWWW!
Only just picked this series up again. Mechwarrior 2 was my first video game and though I was too little to think about the story, I played a lot of skirmishes with the Timber Wolf. Always my favorite mech!
Excellent job!
I like your Style, it would be pe perfect for Battletech!
Whaaaaaa??? Thanks to George Ledoux I have found this gem just now. Amazing! Wish I could give some more thumbs up.
Now see? This is good Battletech stuff!
Whoa! So cool. Can't believe I missed this. 1) I would go very far......walk up to 500 miles 2) I would sacrifice a lot.... at least a buck'o'five.
i'm new in the mechwarrior lore
is this really how the lore of mechwarrior feels and looks?
Depends on how you see it. If you see plodding, slow, creaking metal, Baradul's daily videos show that. But if your gear is top of the line, not using a neural interface ductaped together from a 200 year old game console and a clock radio, I have always seen the lighter mechs moving like DC shows them. The bouncy little bug mechs that even in formation are a little jittery, the trooper and fire support mechs that have grace and power, and the elephantine smoothness of the big assault mechs. A good pilots doesn't drive a good mech, he wears it.
Back again, I still want this to be a thing.
Would love to see the story of Rasalhague play out on the screen. Whether animated or live action. A shame this didn't work out.
Yeah, too bad some giant like Netflix hasn't optioned this or you! I really, Really, REALLY hope that some form of BattleTech/MechWarrior blockbuster movie emerges someday before the SLDF!
Of course, I'm an optimist, and still waiting to see what Netflix does with Old Man's War ... they're only the 3rd? 4th? to procure the movie rights ... at least if they DO continue forward and make that property into a movie (why not? it's just money to them and has the BEST opening line ever!)
I want this sooo bad.
I would watch the shit out of this
Thank fuck I found this again...
1:47 stomp squish
Remember Tukayyid.
this is worlds above the shit show of a cartoon we got.
My dude when we gonna get that amazing looking assault fight scene?
Omg please make another one with Fleas!!!
Wish this was longer 1:58 two epic beast in 1 vs 1 fight
Not enought people know about this, quite the passoin projekt.
I want to know more about the dude with the katana facing the Dire Wolf. I particularly want to know who wins that fight.
Who was winning that battle in the end? Left or right mech?
I love this video. It is awesome!!!
'Greatest threat' sounds like some Inner Sphere propaganda to me. Maybe if the Houses weren't so shit and constantly stabbing each other in the back, the Clans wouldn't have to come in to remake the Galaxy. :p
so cool
Right.
