I have no functional modern loyalty to any of the big three, but it's depressing to watch Microsoft basically just give up because it's pretty clear that the North American brand loyalty to Sony and Nintendo no matter what dumb shit they pull with consumers. Perhaps if Microsoft didn't shoot themselves in the foot super hard with the launch of the Xbox One it'd be different, but otherwise the just look like they're giving up. The Xbox Series X, as someone who services hardware, is by far my favourite modern console design - it's literally a tube of airflow that's only obstructed by the parts the air is cooling. Between *all* consoles I think it should last the longest without components dying a slow heat death. It's just a shame that Microsoft either has no idea how to manage game development, or possibly they don't have the balls to remove the problematic people managing the game development. Neither Sony nor Microsoft are putting out their A-material in games right now as far as I'm concerned but people tend to forgive Sony shitting out garbage a lot more often for some reason, not to excuse the current ongoing fuckup that is Forza Motorsport. Still upset they greenlit Forza Horizon and not a continuation of Project Gotham Racing though.
I don't think Nintendo will announce or release a new console this year, but if they did, I still think MP4 would be a launch title. Not the only big launch title, but one of them. Metroid is not a cash cow but it's like halfway there, and Nintendo would definitely like it to be. being one of the only high profile first party games available on people's shiny new box for 1-2 months might be enough to inflate the sales and get people attached, which could lead to more recurring interest in the franchise for the future.
Honestly kind of surprised you're so certain Switch 2 won't be launching with Mario Kart 9. Considering 8 will literally be 10 years old as of May and, Nintendo opted to put out more DLC for 8 deluxe instead of developing 9 for the Switch, I genuinely be shocked if the Switch 2 doesn't get Mario Kart 9 within it's launch window. If they do have Metroid Prime 4 at launch I could see them pairing it up with Mario Kart. Even aside from Metroid's sales numbers it's just hard for me to imagine Nintendo pushing a 13+ fps as the sole system seller for a new Nintendo console.
Can we admit how terrible the "Xbox series stuff" naming convention was terrible? I'm not a console guy, but have no idea which one should be first, or the difference at all
Metroid Prime 4 will sell well, like, if the game is really good, i don't see it not launching alongside a 3d Mario. I'm pretty confident Prime 4 will be THE Metroid game, and while yes, Dread didn't sold that well, Metroidvanias don't tend to sell much in general. Metroid Prime 4 has more chances of selling more, because 1- it's an FPS game, 2- Prettier graphics, 3-bigger scope, 4- more cinematic feel and 5- multiplayer. And more, launching it within the first months of switch 2's life, guarantees the game will have evergreen sales. I think it will still come to switch OG though.
anybody think nintendo will announce a huge game to be released before april?? I've got a coupon I've been holding on to, but don't really know what to trade it for...
One of my issues with xbox has always been exclusivity in the past couple of years. Everything that is on xbox/gamepass (because that is unfortunately the future structure of xbox from the sounds if it) is on PC. Am I saying just build a PC? kind of. if you have the means, do it instead of buying an xbox. if you don't and just want a system to game on, the series s is that console. Great introduction to the market (minus the all digital part). My primary point is that there is no reason to buy an xbox anymore. They know it too, that's why they are pushing to have these services. they are forcing themselves into a market that is very small and could be potentially irrelevant in the next few years
My predictions for the “palworld vs Pokémon video” 1: palworlds success is a flash in the pan 2: palworld had good timing because it released before Pokémon day but after the indigo disk 3: palworld can’t kill pokemon 4: the 2024 game is either johto Or unova
Nothing can kill Pokémon. The next Pokemon game will sell very well regardless of quality. And I truly believe the next mainline Pokemon game will break all records sales. However, if the next game continues the path of mediocrity and buggy releases as all 3D Pokemon games on the Switch, it will only strengthen the Palworld VS Pokemon debacle, especially if Palworld continues to receive quality updates for free and releases on Sony platforms. There's also a chance that other companies are looking at this case and taking notes from Palworld. If Nintendo cannot sue them, that means copying Pokemon's general art style is fair game as long as they don't copy monster design. I think the monster designs are Pokemon's main reason why so many people are attached to it, and why so many other monster taming games failed. Palworld's monsters are just as appealing as Pokémon's.
There weren’t mediocre but they weren’t mainstream level like people pretend they were. The best selling Zelda game before botw was twilight princess which only sold 9 million copies.
Imma make some of my own predictions- - AI will play a larger role in video game development, doing voices, helping with concept art or background 2D art assets, and our best 'programming' ai will continue to evolve and perhaps create something that will take off within this year or sometime in the near future. - indie games will continue to put AAA 'live-service' games to shame - More 'Live-Service' slop and disasters, deaths and dwindling support for said games. - Continued monetization torture across gaming - More 'aborted f#tus' like releases ala Golllum, the gorrila game, red fall and more - More legacy developers being bought and shut down after being co-opted by the ESG-cult and releasing shameful disgraces to formerly beloved franchises - Hopefully a Mecha-genre Renaissance thanks to AC6 doing very well and showing the genre can succeed if given the chance
Considering the shit storm that the movie industry went through when movie studios wanted to replace people with algorithms, I don't think big game developers and publishers will want to step on the same minefield.
@@NiiRubra Idk, I feel like its an irresistible asset- instead of paying an employee tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands a year for their job- you could just prompt an ai to generate concept art for your actual workers to refine or base their modeling on, or instead of paying tons of voice actors- just getting a bunch of ai to voice all your characters for a 1 time fee to whomever made the model or just training your own- I've already seen this in a few demos by indie devs and have spent a ton of time listening to ai cover-songs and memes and the best models are nearly flawless at re-creating the voices of the characters they are based off of- its crazy. Not to mention modern writing is near universally dead, I struggle to imagine ai coming up with worse storylines than the ESG-cult rot that has infected most larger studios in both gaming & movies/shows. esp. if checked and reviewed by a human afterwards. There's no way this wont continue- unless government regulation stops it or something similar.
I disagree with ESG. DEI and other diversity quotas are being abandoned across the economy. What I think will happen is that those who destroyed their brands so much will likely remain on ESG like life support, while games that cater to the more right-leaning gamer and the general right-leaning trends in society will excel in the market. This will be paired with the fact that most AA studios dont have the resources nor the safety net to promote controversial politics in their games. This can be seen with games like Hell-Divers 2 remaining extraordinarily apolitical despite the setting and left wing cries for lgbt representation in capes to remain as easily enjoyed by all.

I think the Halo franchise is well past its prime, but with all the Microsoft rumors going on right now, I hope MS would port the first 4 Halo games made by Bungie on Nintendo and PlayStation. I think having the original Halo: Combat Evolved on the Switch would be great
You forget donkey kong. I think this new console is going to launch with that. Now feels right for something in the series. With Mario wonder revitalising the 3d Mario games it would also make sense for them to also wonderise the donkey kong series too.
Metroid is not a big system seller on it's own, but it is still a system seller but needs to be paired with something else to sell the switch 2 or something like that
Before new horizons Animal crossing wasn’t a huge seller but because of right circumstances it sold amazingly if prime 4 launched early and had good marketing then I think it blow up (not as much as nh)
Bro 😂 sometimes you act like you hate your job. You do know that the people that watch your content love you and your content right…? lol anyways keep up the good work Ty
My guess is that they will release a new Mario kart called like Super Mario Kart Nintendo something or other and the gimmick is cross play with Switch, mobile, but either free DLC/extra content or early release on the new system.
They definitely shouldnt do prequels given their obsession with prometheans and current track record with respecting established world-building. But other spinoffs is what they shouldve been doing from the start 100%. H5 with the Swords of Sanghelios showed great potential in expanding the universe beyond mister halo
I wouldnt count on Quake moving Halo down on the top fps list. Quake was popular and important in the 90s, but hasnt had that staying power in following versions. Halo is designed for consoles, its Xbox's best brand, for better or worse
I feel like the VGAs are well off his hands at this point. Whenever I look at the game awards and I'm unhappy with them, I don't think "oh Geoff Keighley, you screwed up!", I think "yup, there's... the corporation stuff, this is a show by big companies to sell games, that's... yup."
I don’t think we can use the last animal crossing as a metric for the franchise sales. Remember that it was released during Covid season, and it had allowed people to interact with each other while in lockdown mode. more of a freak outlier in a sense.
Speaking about Nintendo, they better make a new Animal Crossing at least at some point that is an improvement cause the last game was good but could’ve been a-lot better. Hope it would at least be more like New Leaf with new features
With how disgustingly successful New Horizons is that's probably not gonna happen. They're likely gonna do the same thing, releasing the game with barely enough content and taking years to add in stuff that was in the previous game day 1. And they're probably going to emphasize customization even more and make the villagers even MORE bland and boring.
I could see a Legend of Zelda BoTW + TotK "remaster," i.e. they increase the framerate and/or improve the resolution. I don't see an Xbox Series X Pro because, at that point, you're probably just getting a gaming PC.
It’s such a shame I love the series X. However I will say most of my Xbox friends still use a Xbox One because there is no reason to upgrade. I think an Xbox 5 or an X2 could really shift the waters
Wait... hol up... W10 support ends this year? What the hell it only just got released not that long ago (cosmic time speaking) and i just got pulled into it now its finally stable and they already want to cut support? What is this nonsense
Predictions: 1. There will be another murder and acquisition of a company by a larger company. I don't think the layoffs will deter companies away from valuable IPs. As for who IDK, shot in the dark here but Sony buys Square Enix 2 baybee. On Xbox platforms FFXIV is going to be a game pass exclusive. Yes you have to pay for gamepass in addition to that games fees. I also really agree with everything you mentioned in the original video on this. They might've just held off because Microsoft and Embracer were going crazy at the moment. Speaking of subscription hell. 2. Centralization on Subscription Models. I predict we will see more Subscription exclusive releases like that boring Sonic platformer and the GTA Definitive Edition Rerereleases (Yes.) become the norm. I can honestly see it devolving similarly into what video streaming services are now with added competition from Apple and Netflix. 3. Nintendo will have an image problem if they just stick to doing another Switch. This is one I've caught a lot of flack for mentioning but I don't think Nintendo will have a good time if they just try to stick to what made the switch successful. Times really have changed since 2017 and so has Nintendo's market opposition. The Steam Deck may not be doing big numbers at all by comparison to the switch but it's open library and usability are sore spots. Yes Nintendo nerds the switch is easier to use but everything else you get in exchange for a more involved set up is worth it not matter what market perspective you approach it from. It can more things than the switch can, for an ever so slightly bigger hassle. 4. Something will put just how awful the ESA is in the spotlight. Call this more of a hope than a prediction, but the ESA is so terrible that government intervention would now be slightly less terrible. You want to know why legal arguments for Lootbox/Gacha (aka Lootbox) being classified as gambling are dead in the water? The ESA. 5. TPC will go after Palworld. This could go hand in hand with the above two points to a degree. I think regardless of how this will go down this will put TPC, Nintendo, The ESA, and Nintendo's Stockholm Syndromed fans in a really bad light. Which is good, fuck all of those groups, especially the latter 2. 6. Something really awful will be attached to those unveiled SEGA games. I haven't forgotten the NFT Jet Set Radio thing. Hype really is the industries biggest poison. 7. Live Service Games like iRacing and Roleplay sub games will explode on to the mainstream. This is another one where I'm gonna catch flak, as the iRacing community will get mad if you even dare to refer to their video game as a video game. Stuff like iRacing and Grand Theft Auto roleplaying will hit the mainstream. If you ever think EA is evil for their prices and MTX, just look at the prices for iRacing or for any RP server featured in a Bub Games video. Actual Predictions: 1. Lapras.
Well it's December 1. Sony trying to buy Kadokawa saved this. 2. Slow Growth here, feels like it's in the normalization phase though. 3. Recent Billibilli "leaks" show this as as something we'll likely see in late 2025. 4. Balatro, unfortunately it didn't spotlight them enough. 5. They did, at least Nintendo did. 6. Didn't happen (yet). 7. Didn't happen (yet).
I absolutely have lost confidence in Xbox last year and then if they do get rid of discs I'm definitely going to throw my hands up. I already was iffy. But yeah
PS5 and XBOX Series X don't have enough exclusives and that's entirely the fault of Sony and Microsoft. Choosing to ignore so many good IPs they used to have when some are in high demand just because they are "for kids" hurt them considerably. Nintendo appeals to darn near everyone because of both exclusives and 3rd party games that appeal to every gender and age group. You have so much variety and not counting the countless light novel games and sims, the eshop is mostly high quality titles. It's really uppity to think that games mostly aimed at kids will never appeal to anyone else. It's denying the fun factor which defeats the purpose of playing a GAME.
How big is Valve, really? They aren't public on the stock market, they're everywhere without even really having to try these days, and they just continue to rake in the top ends of every game sold through Steam. Can't quite google a net worth and make it make sense.
I am one of exactly two people I know who owns a series x. I got it because I have a number of original Xbox games that are backwards compatible that I wanted to play. I also wanted a DVD/Blu-ray player. It made functional sense to get it over a series s. And yet, I'm laughing at Xbox right now.
Half Prediction half recommendation for Microsoft. Make the next Xbox a console handheld, make gamepass free for a year with purchase, give it "this works as a generic usb controller for any other console" functionality, and have it run a modified windows os that allows you to use a keyboard and mouse like a laptop and they'd EASILY take over the console race lead again.
Besides Animal Crossing, Mario and Zelda, the next gen Nintendo console could see decent sales from a new Fire Emblem, as long as it does numbers like Three Houses. A (good) Pokémon would also do it. But given Zelda and Mario both had 2023 games, and AC is a slow innovator, all three of the former won't likely be launch titles unless they're remakes or remasters... Of which, all remakes are confirmed for Switch only (SMRPG, PM TTYD, etc). So yeah, Nintendo may wait longer or blow it up with something entirely unexpected. No launch since the Wii had been massive. Wii U was slow, 3DS left a lot to be desired, Switch was lukewarm, as in, it took 2-4 years for its best games to come out. Breath of the Wild and MK8 Deluxe were the only things selling systems at launch. It'll be a weak console launch again, nearly for sure.
well asking for a good pokemon is kind of a stretch considering they haven't done anything decent for almost a decade, though it will sell well anyway so eh
Halo Infinite is finally playing smoothly with what seems like reliable whale-sourced income. Making a new multiplayer FPS might jeopardize that source of income and stability, especially how buggy and unreliable new AAA games comes out now. Making new lower budget single player or different genre multiplayer games as a compliment to Infinite would be less risky than replace it. Microsoft can mandate the teams/studios of other games to make assets available/compatible with Infinite for cross promo.

I’m not betting on animal crossing being a launch title the same team is still working on splatoon 3s update cycle
Hearing "banjo three-ie" still after that GameCube tech demo thing in 2000 is still so wild to me. 24 freaking years.
Wanted to let you know this is my comfort channel.
A smash bros deluxe with even MORE dlc planned would def be a system seller
If the Switch 2 doesn’t release this year my prediction for 2025 will be that Iwata will roll hard enough in his grave for Mt Fuji to erupt.
Even aside from Metroid's sales numbers it's just hard for me to imagine Nintendo pushing a 13+ fps as the sole system seller for a new Nintendo console.
a pokemon that doesn't look like a ps2 game is gonna be the switch 2 system seller, mark my words
Ghost of Tsushima 2 will be the PS5 pro launch title
They know it too, that's why they are pushing to have these services. they are forcing themselves into a market that is very small and could be potentially irrelevant in the next few years
My predictions for the “palworld vs Pokémon video”
1: palworlds success is a flash in the pan
2: palworld had good timing because it released before Pokémon day but after the indigo disk
3: palworld can’t kill pokemon
4: the 2024 game is either johto
Or unova
Would suck and be totally Nintendo if switch 2 isnt back compatible with switch 1, at least digitally.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Zelda franchise also have mediocre sales before BotW?
There weren’t mediocre but they weren’t mainstream level like people pretend they were. The best selling Zelda game before botw was twilight princess which only sold 9 million copies.
switch 2 is gana be 2025
Imma make some of my own predictions-
- AI will play a larger role in video game development, doing voices, helping with concept art or background 2D art assets, and our best 'programming' ai will continue to evolve and perhaps create something that will take off within this year or sometime in the near future.
- indie games will continue to put AAA 'live-service' games to shame
- More 'Live-Service' slop and disasters, deaths and dwindling support for said games.
- Continued monetization torture across gaming
- More 'aborted f#tus' like releases ala Golllum, the gorrila game, red fall and more
- More legacy developers being bought and shut down after being co-opted by the ESG-cult and releasing shameful disgraces to formerly beloved franchises
- Hopefully a Mecha-genre Renaissance thanks to AC6 doing very well and showing the genre can succeed if given the chance
@@theactualtsl Its pretty obvious that the rotten ship is burning, but they have a damn near unlimited amount of funds, trillions- like 50~75% of the worlds funding infact-
Did something go wrong in the editor room at the beginning of the video when you were going to do the sponsor? Or was that a big? I'm genuinely confused
Does anyone know who made the songs for the intro and outro for Whimsu news?? They're really nice and I'd like to listen to them...😅
How long has Whimmy been in the pool 😂
Pokemon legends za could be releasing on the new console. There’s no box art shown in the trailers so far. Legends Arceus sold 15M units.
Release title?
I love halo to death, but I think they should let the series rest for a bit give it a few years
I think the Halo franchise is well past its prime, but with all the Microsoft rumors going on right now, I hope MS would port the first 4 Halo games made by Bungie on Nintendo and PlayStation. I think having the original Halo: Combat Evolved on the Switch would be great
Halo needs a reboot. 343 can't write anything interesting or good. "It's rewind time." - Will smiff
“Ten million units ready, with another one hundred million more well on the way”
Alright everybody, hopefully no apocalyptic event happens and we'll all meet back in 2025~ to see how wrong/right he was this time.
You forget donkey kong. I think this new console is going to launch with that. Now feels right for something in the series. With Mario wonder revitalising the 3d Mario games it would also make sense for them to also wonderise the donkey kong series too.
Metroid is not a big system seller on it's own, but it is still a system seller but needs to be paired with something else to sell the switch 2 or something like that
Before new horizons Animal crossing wasn’t a huge seller but because of right circumstances it sold amazingly if prime 4 launched early and had good marketing then I think it blow up (not as much as nh)
no, the xbox 720 will come out and hollow knight 3 will be on it
Me watching this on April 26💀
Bro 😂 sometimes you act like you hate your job. You do know that the people that watch your content love you and your content right…? lol anyways keep up the good work Ty
4:13 my man’s looking to throw ARMS.
After seeing that weird AR cat game trailer, I think Nintendo might do something similar with Pokemon or Pikmin with the next console.
My guess is that they will release a new Mario kart called like Super Mario Kart Nintendo something or other and the gimmick is cross play with Switch, mobile, but either free DLC/extra content or early release on the new system.
343 should focus on prequels and other spinoff stories rather than continuing the Master Chief story.
They definitely shouldnt do prequels given their obsession with prometheans and current track record with respecting established world-building. But other spinoffs is what they shouldve been doing from the start 100%. H5 with the Swords of Sanghelios showed great potential in expanding the universe beyond mister halo
agreed, but halo without master chief doesnt sound like it will sell at all, especially with the current confidence in 343
@@breadone_I’d say a new ODST game could work well
How about we just delete 343
ouya exclusive whimsu game when?
I wouldnt count on Quake moving Halo down on the top fps list. Quake was popular and important in the 90s, but hasnt had that staying power in following versions. Halo is designed for consoles, its Xbox's best brand, for better or worse
I just want a moon chronicles game
Finally beat elden ring! Now I'm playing FF12 on my switch. Happy 2024!
bruh when are you gonna livestream again
I played Terraria while listening to this. That Spiderfish has to be somewhere.
I wonder if Geoff will take feedback over The Game Awards
Lol no
He only takes feedback from Hideo Kojima buddy
I feel like the VGAs are well off his hands at this point. Whenever I look at the game awards and I'm unhappy with them, I don't think "oh Geoff Keighley, you screwed up!", I think "yup, there's... the corporation stuff, this is a show by big companies to sell games, that's... yup."
I knew when I saw that cat, its gonna be a good time.
The gaming industry is in a weird spot right now
2024 the year of silksong mark my words
i'd watch a ps5 spec prediction video
When's e3 comin'back?..
Its not.
Honestly I’m glad 2023 was so good for indie and AA and kinda meh for AAA. Certainly one of the most interesting years for gaming in recent times
sony wont bother supporing the ps5pro. they already forgot about the PSVR2, why would they care.
Wait so you have twitter or not because I'm trying to find you.

Persona predictions?
Lol, the cat included my meme joke post!
Quake rumours?
Predictions:
Actual Predictions:
1. Lapras.
Well it's December
But yeah
Please bring back the ingro 😢
Cat didn’t talk about pc again. Bad cat!
Gear of war 5 remake? I been yearning for a gears 2 remake
I predict 1 of 2 things will happen in 2024: SNK will buy out the world OR Crab Champions will get a Tony update.
I just want new heroes of the storm content
How big is Valve, really? They aren't public on the stock market, they're everywhere without even really having to try these days, and they just continue to rake in the top ends of every game sold through Steam. Can't quite google a net worth and make it make sense.
Mark Cerny will replace Jim Ryan and turn Knack into a yearly franchise
I am one of exactly two people I know who owns a series x.
I got it because I have a number of original Xbox games that are backwards compatible that I wanted to play. I also wanted a DVD/Blu-ray player. It made functional sense to get it over a series s.
And yet, I'm laughing at Xbox right now.
Sony failing because of live service bets made my year
why are you floating in whimmy's cooling tub
It'll be a weak console launch again, nearly for sure.
well asking for a good pokemon is kind of a stretch considering they haven't done anything decent for almost a decade, though it will sell well anyway so eh
breath of the wild remaster is a system seller
cant wait for all of them to be the wrong
Halo Infinite is finally playing smoothly with what seems like reliable whale-sourced income. Making a new multiplayer FPS might jeopardize that source of income and stability, especially how buggy and unreliable new AAA games comes out now. Making new lower budget single player or different genre multiplayer games as a compliment to Infinite would be less risky than replace it. Microsoft can mandate the teams/studios of other games to make assets available/compatible with Infinite for cross promo.
15:39 wait their shutting down windows 10 as well- WHAT IS GOING ON MICROSOFT!? AHHHH!!!!
