I'm the developer of Doom Zero. An official Add-on for Doom 1 and 2. So concerning Doom Year Zero, I wonder if they had to settle for Doom Year Zero because there's already an "official" Doom Zero. Not saying they definitely would've gone with Doom Zero if it wasn't for me, I mean, nothing's stopping them from just using the name. Take a look at Doom, As in Doom 2016. My point still largely stands though, they're big and important to the Japanese economy
Nintendo is definitely not the largest Japanese company. Even in just the console space Sony is literally right there. But in general Nintendo isn't even top 20 by market cap

Would be nice if xbox gave up on consoles and made a "gaming pc" just a pc that's "simple" pc. Like how the iphone is "simple". Or come out with the gamepass Xbox tv usb device. At least this way I have one less exclusivity to worry about.
Wait the new controller is going to have gyro? With how backwards and forwards compatible-friendly Xbox has been, I wonder if this means we'll get an expansion port pack that adds gyro to the One/Series controllers. It's entirely possible, and it could've been done already if Microsoft didn't lock that port down (plus it's a proprietary connector), it's just an i2c link to the controller's microcontroller, with some controller firmware to have a whitelist of devices (headset, keyboard, media controls, all things long discontinued now, with no true third party replacements, as third party use the port for power only and use their own wireless dongle), but a gyro pack may actually be the best use of this port, and it doesn't have to be a massive tumor hanging off the bottom of the controller either, honestly it could be the size of a Logitech USB receiver with how small IMUs are these days. The 'not in scope for 1st party' handheld makes me think they might finally ship Xbox OS as it's own thing not tied to the hardware, like Steam OS but more universal. Maybe, finally, we'll have a gaming-oriented OS that's basically Windows but cut down? I've been wondering, for years, when Xbox was finally going to do this considering they had enough foresight and insight to stop console exclusivity and open Xbox up to PC almost fully. Especially after the sandbox mode within the dev menus, and with how console and PC hardware are nearly identical outside of the APU chip itself and how system memory is handled. The 'thin OS' isn't part of this, that's just for cloud devices, as in a thin-thick arrangement for the device and server. *And ARM64 is finally being looked into?* That'll be massive for handhelds, finally there might be a push for ARM PCs outside of Apple, who is now almost three generations ahead, when x86 (Intel and AMD) seem uninterested in the consumer market (they have market segments that do use ARM, though), and handset chip manufacturers (Qualcomm, Samsung, etc.) refuse to step up their offerings. Maybe if Microsoft pushes for these kinds of chips within this market segment, ARM themselves could get interested and produce a microarchitecture catered specifically for PC use, rather than the current Apple design of just scaling mobile chips for desktop workloads, because a proper microarch _is_ the future of ARM PCs. Gen10 could actually be interesting, and has massive implications for the non-console side of things depending on what actually goes through. I wonder if Sony has any similar plans of focusing on cloud and a handheld. The whole 'hybrid' console thing is such a stupid term, it's a dockable handheld; was docking a laptop 15 years ago considered a hybrid PC, no, the industry really needs to stop shoving their thumb up their ass with terms like these.
@@accountrandomnumber182 Exactly as it sounds. Around 2021 in a public company fiscal report that was posted in the Nintendo subreddit it was shown that the company bought back a whole lot of their own shares, probably to prevent things like what Phill Spencer wrote in the email leak.
Microsoft buying Valve? Valve isn't particularly fond of Microsoft, they don't want to be reliant on Microsoft, that's why they have SteamOS. They'd never sell to anyone, but ESPECIALLY not Microsoft.
I'm surprised, too. I figured Microsoft would be leaning all-in on VR since they were pretty early into the industry. Plus, VR would be amazing for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The thought of Microsoft buying Nintendo makes me mad as fuck. Microsoft ruins everything they buy. Nintendo would die if they got bought by them. Good thing they're extremely rich
Cant wait until the oblivion remaster comes out and its literally worse than the skyblivion mod. And the Fo3 remaster is just the exact same game with iron sights added from NV.
If I were Microsoft I'd make their next console as strong as the Series X as a minimum and make it like the Steam Deck and Switch. You'd have the selling point of "EVERYTHING that runs on windows runs on our machine, no compatibility issues at all." and graphics are no longer improving at a rate that it matters to the 90% casual audience who play consoles. Switch has nintendo games, Xbox would have everything else.
Lmfao they mentioned digital foundry??? Fuck yeah DF movin and shakin the whole industry out here, seems to be raising the general bar for what we should accept as consumers!
I don’t think Microsoft will ever be able to acquire Nintendo just given how Japanese law is when it comes to foreign acquisitions. I also don’t think Valve will ever be acquired just because their entire operation works by being independent from higher businesses and shareholders, which is something that would be lost if Microsoft (or any other big company) were to acquire them. Also, when Microsoft was going around to different regulators to justify their purchase of Activision-Blizzard, they did bring up how they compete on PC with Valve and Epic, so I think most PC launchers are out of the question.
Phil Spencer’s views on the Series X’s potential to beat the PS5 and his wanting to get Nintendo as a “career move” makes him look a lot less smart in retrospect. Honestly really takes a hit to his “Uncle Phil” persona to the public.
I feel like the current generations are a lot less entertaining in the PlayStation vs. Xbox side. They seem pretty equal. It's not like the days of Ps3 where the architecture was so different programming was a nightmare.

@@accountrandomnumber182 Exactly as it sounds. Around 2021 in a public company fiscal report that was posted in the Nintendo subreddit it was shown that the company bought back a whole lot of their own shares, probably to prevent things like what Phill Spencer wrote in the email leak.
I wonder if ValueAct was one of the companies they bought the shares back from, I hope so because this sounds shady as hell.
@@khhnator it was never explained?
*Tired Whimsu noises*
Microsoft buying Valve? Valve isn't particularly fond of Microsoft, they don't want to be reliant on Microsoft, that's why they have SteamOS. They'd never sell to anyone, but ESPECIALLY not Microsoft.
Hey why do they need to control their games with one hand? What are they planning to do with the other hand?
The Japanese would rather dissolve Nintendo than sell to Microsoft 💯
This sure is not a big red flag for anyone in the game industry
Whimsu, the space ghost of our times
Still no VR for Xbox? I’m a PC/PS5 guy but I would love VR friends from the LGBT Console
I'm surprised, too. I figured Microsoft would be leaning all-in on VR since they were pretty early into the industry. Plus, VR would be amazing for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
@@KeeganYF12 considering they made if for a while but on PC only is so weird
@@KeeganYF12I figured they were interested because of the Kinect but I don't know if that's scared them away or not
@@ricardolarios2518 I don't really see how the Kinect factors into it. The Kinect's motion tracking is fundamentally different to VR.
@@ricardolarios2518 I use a 360 Kinect for full body tracking when I first got into VR
Rad new intro. What song was used in it?
Who knew the biggest leak came from Microsoft 😅
Did you see that MS stated if xbox doesn’t get 100M subs by 2026, they’ll leave the gaming industry. 👀
Finally some good news if it's true. If they leave then they will not think about buying Nintendo I assume
This makes me sad
That intro killed me bro 🪦😆
Who needs polygon, I prefer my gaming news to be Cat Shaped!

Lmfao they mentioned digital foundry??? Fuck yeah DF movin and shakin the whole industry out here, seems to be raising the general bar for what we should accept as consumers!
Bro your fucken intro is awesome
Wait Cody is a cat too?
I don’t think Microsoft will ever be able to acquire Nintendo just given how Japanese law is when it comes to foreign acquisitions. I also don’t think Valve will ever be acquired just because their entire operation works by being independent from higher businesses and shareholders, which is something that would be lost if Microsoft (or any other big company) were to acquire them.
Also, when Microsoft was going around to different regulators to justify their purchase of Activision-Blizzard, they did bring up how they compete on PC with Valve and Epic, so I think most PC launchers are out of the question.
It's the anti-monopoly laws that are in the way.

A Half life video game made by Microsoft would be both ironic and horrifying
Dishonored 3????
why are you waking up an hour ago? it's 7:30 pm!
These have to be the biggest leaks ever

pls never stop posting
I forget regular games journalism exists, so much is just fluff and garbage.
Oh s*** here we go again
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
Are you telling me “ResetEra” is not pronounced like etc.?
Xbox become a totally mess, like the iPad, we no longer know which is which.
