Never get bored listening to this song. I thought they were honest musicians back then, regarding their unique style to express the feelings through notes.
I saw them in about 1981 in New Haven, CT, the opening act for Tom Petty (?). Never saw anything like them. So creative and unique. I went out and bought Waiata then next day, the True Colours. They have always been a favorite.
I adored the band back in the day and still do. Not too many years later, I went on to discover and love The Go-Betweens, also from New Zealand. Fantastic music from both. I never got to see Split Enz live, but I did see The Go-Betweens before Grant died during a concert in Chicago at The Abbey Pub. After Grant died, I saw Robert Forster perform live in Chicago. Both were exceptional concerts, and I'm so grateful I got to see them. If only I'd been able to see Split Enz live. Bucket list!
Who would have thought how far those gorgeous 2 Finn brothers would be in the music industry, just so unbelievable now 2022, well done and I always enjoy your music and cheers forever
Now we all know why they are LEGEND!! There's nothing worse than playing to a shitty, unappreciative crowd!! So glad Tim & the boys proved the audience wrong!! ENZ FOREVER!!!!!
@@stoojinator I cant even recall writing this comment so thanks for the reminder :) fyi...the late 70s early 80s were not respectable. It was the wild west back then although I guess it depends on the venue and the intoxication levels. I recall as a youngster going to the bottle store/wholesaler with my father and seeing men in a punch up outside the store. No one even blinked an eye and that was in a upmarket suburb in Auckland called Milford. You dont see fights like that anymore at all at least not in the good part of town
Studying for my HF Radio Ham Licence currently, hopefully will finally get my ZL call-signs one day( ENZ-Z Hams only ) , Question Did Tim really know about the ham world and right a fantastic song that I have been listening to since I was a boy and never really got what it was about ??? Regards and 73's Kris
Why did they take it down from Spotify? I had realized I couldn't find it anymore, though being saved on my playlist before. I used to listen it frequently. I've just found out that "I Got You" also being taken down from Spotify. Could someone explain me why?
Surely there’s a quality recording of this gig, the poor sound quality detracts from a wonderful song. Doesn’t do the band justice, they were in the zone with bunch of other bands of the time, doing exceptional stuff in the studio a couple of times a year inbetween gruelling touring.Every and genre was explored, plenty of unusual songs that charted well. Great sounds folks. Do yourself a favour.
80s provincial Oz, best they could do I reckon. Bet they could hardly hear themselves at all on stage. You need to rehearse a lot to play well on stage without decent monitors.
I love this song to this day - from when I first heard it as a 15yr old in 1981
This is the first song on my play list for my morning walk ... it makes me want to jive along the street .....
In the history of contemporary music there hasn’t been one band that sounds like Split Enz. Entirely unique. Quite extraordinary
Agree 100% and I never grow tired of listening , bought my first Lp in 1980@10 haven’t stopped listening since
True. But you really should know Sparks.
100% agree👍
Always resonates with me this song, growing up as a poor boy!
Excellent live performance of the song. The only one of my top 3 favorite bands I never had the opportunity to see live anywhere.
Those boys sure enjoyed themselves ..
Masterpiece of an album
Possibly my favourite song ever, written the year i was born.
always a SE number particularly Nigel Griggs' bass, superb!!

Be great to have an entire concert downloaded from this era. Fantastic album
What a great performance! The whole thing: the song, the sound, the showmanship, the look... the LOOK! What a great look. And he wore it so well.
Great camera work too. This looks more like a music video performed live in a studio than a concert.

Looks exactly like the show I saw in Atlanata Ga. at the Agora ballroom!! It was great!!!
What a really great song, I love it. This is better than the release.

Prog morphing through new wave. Musical evolution.

UNIQUE, so much talent up there.
Two very talented men upfront ....
Tim Finn was great at split enz. But Neil Finn was a living legend at crowded house.
Now we all know why they are LEGEND!! There's nothing worse than playing to a shitty, unappreciative crowd!! So glad Tim & the boys proved the audience wrong!! ENZ FOREVER!!!!!
Get nothing like this anymore.
They are my all time favourite band from then ❣️
Love always - live at a small theatre in Newtown/Erskineville for Dizrhythmia ...Glorious experience
Beauty of SE💜

MAGNIFICENT!!!! GO BRODDY KIWI 🥝!!! 😂👍👍👍
Love that ground loop feedback!!! (Honestly...)
Seriously good. Love the Enz 💕💕
love it
so good
Great band! Great song, and I'm not even a Kiwi.
that was hilarious what Tim was saying before the song started. the audience was deathly silent. Not a peep. Was the place empty?
People didn't carry on like they do now. It was more respectable I guess? It was funny there was no reaction at all to the joke though.

Ham radio was very popular in NZ and in an age before internet etc.
Cheers Yes it was as phone calls to the rest of the world were super expensive. I am now a certified ham operator callsign ZL1KJT 🎉
The audience is an oil painting

Ammar Andiko that’s what I wanna know too. They took it off on Apple Music
@@tylerhiatt2183 yeah meanwhile the other songs like "My Mistake" etc. still exist. I'm curious.
Ammar Andiko yeah it’s confusing on why they can’t get the other albums on their
How many keyboards can an Enz boy have... quite a few it would seem
Mint all round
My love is 👽✨ it is!! 😁
FUKKING HOT S CELTS--
Does anyone know where this was filmed? The name of the club?
Banter wasnt Tim's strong point it seems.
I think he was actually very anxious on stage and masked it with bravado.
No the audience was just dull as ditch water.
thank god Tim sang and didnt get into public speaking.
He didn't get much energy back to work with! Conservative Australia in the 80s.

Are they going to surpass the Rolling Stones?

The silence after his quips around kinky and naked tell you all you need to know about Australian society at this time. T
Eyebrow pencil....
why did nobody laugh 🧐
Great performance and worst performance by an audience ever!!!
Lol cross overs causing hovic
I love all things Brothers Finn!
They are my John and Paul, the artists, not the Apostles!
Love it
