  • WELCOME TO ANOTHER EPISODE OF PATTAY'S PERFORMANCE!
    Today in the Driveway is my 2003 Honda Element that needed some new SHOES! I was browsing the LETGO APP (RIP) and these came up for sale for a STEAL OF DEAL! This is the first vehicle I ever wondered where there is more tire than rim! I love the Big Wheel/Skinny tire look (hence my other trucks). I kept seeing pictures of E’s with off road look and knew that is the route I was going to take! This happened to be the EXACT SET UP I was looking for! Simple Looking Rims on FALKEN WILD PEAK A/T Tires! These are the exact Tires I wanted! FALKEN MAKES THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCKS TIRES! I met Mrs. Pattay’s Performance at Sears Auto…so I knew a few things or two about tires! Been using them for almost a decade and nothing has changed with them. Still best BANG FOR YOUR BUCK AT Tire with no road noise! Has the bite to take you off the beaten if called for!
    I did’t want to do spacers…lets make em fit!
    FYI: Rims are 15 x 8 Pep Boy Specials (Not Sure What Pep Boy's Calls them since they are Knock Off Design)
    Tires are Falken Wildpeak AT 235/75/15
    I am NOT LIFTED! There is some rubbing on the inner fender trim that will go away with some driving when I'm lock to lock! Keep in mind My Honda DOES need struts since they are OG at 150K

    Nicely done, not my personal taste but I think you did just enough to keep it looking good and practical especially since yours is black. You should look into getting the smoke headlights and the Home Depot grill guard and it will transform it even more!

      @pattayperformance  3 роки тому

      Thank you! What is your personal taste?
      Headlights are on the list...not sure about grill guard. This was a huge step for me. All of my other vehicles have more rim than tire!🦅🔧🤙🏻🇺🇸. Sorry about your fit!

      @@pattayperformance I'm a plain, boring stock person when it comes to cars haha. Headlights will look amazing and the grill guard is less about looks and more to protect the condenser and radiator since that opening is so big.

      Understand...just like the Mrs. LOL.
      I do agree about the head lights but I hear bad things about bumper guard that it makes it worse when you get into an accident.
      I still want to redo all plastic trim pieces in rhino liner black.
      Next mod...like a grill guard are those crazy side ladders. Have you seen them?

      @@pattayperformance Yes that's what I meant about a grill guard, not the bumper guard, sorry! Look up Home Depot grill guard for Honda Element to see what I mean. I have seen the side ladders which are cool!

    I'm surprised you didn't use the star pattern on the lug nuts nor use a torque wrench.

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  3 роки тому

      Star pattern not really unless I’m doing something that Involves a gasket. Torque wrench always especially with tires.
      Long story short a former manager at my job tried to scare me that a truck I worked on was on the news. Tractor trailer going down the highway lost a wheel. There was a guy broke down on the side of a highway in his brand truck. He stood in between the tire and his brand new truck so it wouldn’t mess up the truck. Obviously the guy got hurt...when he approached me and called me into the office. Divulged this story to me, I didn’t even flinch nor have one worry in the world. I said check the cameras, I used a torque wrench and walked out. Later In the day, found out it was the trailer that lost the tire, not the tractor I worked on.
      From that day forward I always stress to the new guys at work, always torque. If I didn’t, would be shaking hands with danger! 🤙🏻🔧🦅🇺🇸

    Any updates on rubbing from the rims and tires?

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  6 місяців тому +1

      I needed new struts so I had rubbing over bumps or when towing.
      I replaced the struts…also lifted my E and went with bigger rims and tires

    Do you happen to still have the wheels? I am trying to buy the same exact wheels in 15x8 like yours, but they come in a few different offsets. Do you happen to know the offset? If not, do you happen to know the measurement from the lug/mounting holes to the outside lip of the rim? I am having one heck of a time trying to figure the out the offset to have the exact same look! Love the way yours looks!!

      Grill Guards look great BUT if you get into accident it will actually increase your damage on impact.

      I put 235/65/16's on my '05,awd, manual E's stock rimes. No rubbing, no speedo change and no other mods needed. These are the size tires that should have been put on the Element from the factory. Totally change how the car handles and they look great too.

    wont that weaken the calliper taking metal off

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  3 роки тому +1

      Excellent question #myhero! Of course if you take too much off, yes. Just shaving a few MM’s off that won’t effect the caliper unless there is an underlying cast issue not picked up from the manufacture.
      I’m not the first person to do this, many people asked this question including myself. I figure I do a tutorial on it for the Element community. I have around 5,000 miles since this was done with zero issues. I didn’t want to go with spacers as it pushed the rim and tire further out as add unnecessary load on suspension components that would cause them to fail prematurely.
