3X Horsepower & Massive Burnouts!! | Indy 500 Go Kart Engine Swap
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- We finish our vintage Crue Cut Indy 500 go kart restoration and install a lightly modified Predator 212cc engine. Equipped with a deluxe performance kit, or stage 1 kit, the Predator 212 makes about 9 horsepower, making it three times more powerful than the original 3 horsepower Tecumseh engine. This go kart is still one wheel drive, so massive burnouts ensue. It's a really fun go kart, the modified predator 212 make the kart fast, but not scary or uncontrollable.
Thanks for Watching!

Yep
Don’t forget the MoTec system exhaust...
I want centrifugal clutch how to buy ???
Do it mate
I like know the history. Glad you showed the paper work.
That was a really awesome highlight. So cool seeing vintage stuff like that.
I did to. I honestly feel like if you have old things like this or even old cars. Hell even old bicycles. You should look up the history because it makes you appreciate it more
now try English and writing
agree - nice touch
I agree it makes the go karts all that more interesting
It was cool looking at the pamplet and look at the breaks in the pamplet
Agreed, a little history on the thing was very welcome.
Yeah it shows the flaps are supposed to go upwards I'm guessing they got the entire bar flipped around
I still say a race between the NASCARt and Indy!
Please put a vintage 2 stroke engine on
Nah
Obbe Zwiers hellyaaaaaa
that would be so sick
Yes
It needs a 4 stroke
You should really work on a stand or saw horses or something :) Makes my back hurt just watching.
Kevin Williamson atv lift table is what they need.
I do my best work on the ground. I really don't like the table.
Like the one Mustie1 has
Awesome burnout on dry rotted tires. Thought it would have popped sooner then that lol
Also would like to see the Indy kart go against the Nascar kart... in the CCGP
Ike and John...you guys, besides being real friends, are the perfect duo...you compliment each other so well....a match made in Heaven! And John...you are such a natural public speaker....the next News Anchor.
Yes, and it appears Hank really knows his mini bikes and karts!!
Hell NO stay away from the news Jhon!!! keep doing what your doing man............. But yes they are Good together for this that's for sure tho.
@@discgolfmark6444 So much can be accomplished when friends can create a team....perfect bussiness model.
Great series of videos on this Indy 500 Fellas!
When I first saw the rear brake set up on this go cart,
I said to myself "It looks funny, it should be on the other way"
I'm glad Ike saw that too.
Nice history lesson on it too!
Thumbs up! 👍🏻
PiratePete66 me too
totally agree, but if you see in the documentation of the cart, John had it in his hand, in the picture the brakes are installed "as designed" crazy, I would have put them the other way aswell.
ua-cam.com/video/Wys5rfsncn4/v-deo.html
If you look at the pad it has slight angle at tip so it don't dig into the tire. They called "power brakes". I only seen them pointing down on mini bike's.
The sales brochure thing was not boring whatsoever! It was actually an extra thrill to go with the whole Nostalgia of it all. I came across and now own a 1946 H Whizzer Motor and bought via online early sales brochures and manuals. They definitely a treat to add extra icing on the cake!
whoever doesnt like that mini history lesson can go shove it
i think its cool as hell that they found the pamphlet in the first place, that kinda stuff often doesnt survive the ages
Hahahah
Right
Love the History lesson!
Those were the times I grew up in - I had a "CAT" minibike. 5HP Brigs, w/ front, and rear suspension.
Cool cart!! Im 53 years old.. In the 70s when I was a little boy I had mini bikes and go carts.. All my go carts had scrubber breaks..
I truly understand your love for go carts and mini bikes..
Maybe the tires are too small giving less ground clearance.
i thought about that too, slightly taller and wider tires would make a big difference, especially with that bad understeer
Id say they need a good touch with more of wheel there too
I agree taller tires.
I think that the tires are the reason the brake lever drags on the ground
style and avail of those times--
We have a 1973 Chevy Corvette Go-Kart built by GM in Janesville Wisconsin where my grandpa use to work before he retired in 2000. Everyone at GM was put in a raffle to win the Corvette, it’s a fiberglass body, solid tube frame, and the color is Orange. Looks exactly like a real Corvette. I believe only one was built to my knowledge. I can’t forget it has a Briggs motor, are tires have the same exact tread pattern as yours and our rear tires are worn down so bad that the center of the tires has no tread. They are worn down like drag radial tires which is a good thing in the early morning when there’s a dew on the ground you can drift around our pine trees lol.
Thank you ! I found it more interesting with the paper work !
I grew up in Kansas City and had both the "Stomper" and "Weekender", by the time I bought them used in the early 80's, they were pretty beat up, but we had a blast on them! I'm pretty sure another kid had the Indy kart without the body, because that frame is pretty memorable and different from a typical kart.
these predator engines are reliable. *throws a rod* oh god dammit!
theyre like an LS. cram power into em, and when you blow it up, just go get another one from the scrappers and do it all over again. cheap fun
They didn't torque the rod down, and they were turning it at 9000 rpm. I own a predator, it's very reliable.
That would be a C and C moment for sure.😂
@@ghomerhust Just what I was going to say, the LS of the karting world lol
I thought the history was something you should do for every go kart. You go guys!
Acekart Yes!! Preach!!!
Enjoyed the pamphlet with all the extra information. If you look at the picture on the pamphlet the brakes are the same as you have them installed so must be a poor design. A solid Axle would help... 2 wheel drive better than 1. Keep up the great videos guys!
The brochure is very cool. The brakes are actually functional, surprised. It would be perfect to see that flying V header out the back of that badass lil kart. That burn out, too funny. Good on you guys!!!
I really appreciate the time warp. How fascinating it is, to relive a time period from way back. Such an innocent time for USA!
Very glad this kart is getting a vintage engine. Maybe do a 2 speed clutch setup like you found at the build off challenge. Build a Briggs for it and get the Briggs to rev if you can!
The burnout reminded me about the 50 dollar go cart!
History is always good to know when owning something, and it’s like story time, probably one of my favorite subjects when I was in school. Was it me or did it seem like the front end needed some weight on the front for better steering? I’m glad you guys are deciding to keep it vintage 👍🏻
Your channel is amazing! Keep up the insane videos!
Getting history on a project is a must, the smell and feel of the brochures and paperwork are worth the cost.
Tuesday looks squirrely on take off? Much much fun I would imagine.
Hell yeah more burnouts please that was awesome,,,it doesnt have to be this one but burnouts in general.
I understand wanting to go nostalgic with it but that motor does look good in there too. Keep up the good work guys
Burnout and paperwork was best part.
I sure do love the old sales ads , Show them anytime .. ENJOYED !!
Love that you guys went over the sales info found it very interesting another great build guys keep up the good work love you videos
the wheel spin'n out in the rim was great! this is a cool cart.
Siiick burn out! Love the brochure read, that was really cool.
The pamphlets were awesome. Strong back in time is always a pleasure. Looks as though the brakes are set up the right way. Maybe someone in the factory grabbed a bracket from a different model? Who knows.
Awsome Burn out. Great project you all are working on...greetings from Bristol Connecticut
It looks like it has/had a leather (vinyl) seat, too. Might be cool to try to replicate that with some old, slightly worn vinyl. Super cool to see the old sales brochure, too.
I would LOVE to see a complete, modern interpretation of this kart. As you mentioned in a previous video, it might be worthwhile to see about licensing for that thing, and look into building and selling modern reproductions of it! It could be an AWESOME business venture that could earn you guys a lot of money.
CrazyIvan1337 Excellent point!
Loved the video. Nice one wheel peel. The sales book was very interesting.
Glad you showed the paperwork. Knowing the history is cool.
the wheel spun inside the tire at the end of the burnout right as the tire popped
Nitro Nut420 it slipped off the bead, didn’t pop
The history part is important when you have a vintage item like that kart. I love that stuff it's always so interesting.
Been a fan since 10 reasons to get a go cart, keep up the great job💯
The sales pamphlets were awesome and I personally would love to see more of the vintage go karts in yalls feed I know this is much harder to get your hands on but to me it is so much more gratifying
This was the prize you got if you sold 10,000 candy bars for your fund-raiser.
The pamphlet was sweet. Honestly i digged the silver. It was bigger than I thought too. Cool
I think the bar for the brakes was put in backwards. ( the bar with the brake pads on it).
Then the bar would be on the side of the gas pedal and still wouldn’t match it
Always love seeing a rare classic back in running shape. The paperwork was very interesting and worth the time.
everytime they start welding i close my eyes... its an instinct that i can not overcome. X_X
I do that to
Definitely good idea to gi over the vintage advertising for the go kart and yes awsome burnout
Hell yeah badass burnout
I love the brochure! I’m always buying up vintage Hot Rod Magazines and dealership brochures for all my vintage cars. I really dig that stuff
Bet your parents hate all the noise. Lol
it makes him money so i feel like they live with it
that big house they just sit in the center room and may hear a bee of a buzz the most of the time
I'd say the neighbours may get pissed. But his parents I doubt it, given its a growing business.
Also, you know that the double header and engine shroud DEFINATELY have to make an appearance! Looks cool!
WOO HOO!
I want the fire truck Go-Kart . Once again you guys knocked it of the park . Great job!
The brakes on the picture looks like the brakes is correct
Thanks for saving this piece of history! I love the sales brochures and documentation that goes along with it
You have to realize what the cars were made for......SHRINER PARADE CARS. they where made to run on the streets during a parade..... not off road my friends.
Even still, having a solid brake linkage literally bend around the frame is a bad design regardless
@@MiniMoto0098 OH I AGREE my friend. .... but as you can see by the construction it was made to sell for a fast buck. not for it's quality eh.
I’d like to see you make a good frame based off the original. A high horsepower one, with good brakes and such. Then swap the body from original to high horsepower. Then you can make a series on copying the body with a new mold. There is a lot there for us to learn as well....good luck guys, be safe #1, and have fun #2!!!
its my birthday
Happy b day
Enjoyed the brochure, I love vintage literature. The burnout was great, keep it up. And the Mini Mayhem shirt is sweet, I gotta get me one.
No medium T-shirts but you have a 2XL??? WTH, If you wear a 2XL you cant ride a minibike.
MrTrenbo 😂😂😂 That’s for the Ducati drivers-lots of powah!😂
It's like LS-swapping it... That's a bit of a shame
I was going to say the same thing the predator engine has become the "LS" swap for go karts
First it was the Chevy 350 in everything, now yeah, LS1, LS2 swap.
Well, they did it temporarily... No need to be upset
Pitiful. Check your comment before posting.
@@Spirit_Lanayru I'm not english, I might have used a wrong word, sorry. I meant that it is a shame.
Really like that sales book you showed us
Use a cable for the goddam brake. Read your comments. Jeez.
It will be fine
Im guessing you missed that they are trying to keep it original. That's why the engine wasn't permanently mounted. They are looking for an older engine from the era of this cart to pt in it.
@@roberthickoxjr easy to fab up bolt on cable stops, would solve problems and be totally removable. The provenance would be left intact.
The pamphlet was awesome. And I'd say put it up against the rat rod wagon. That would be amazing
Wow! Never seen Ike wear a polo! It's like the twilight zone.
The sales documentation was really cool. It gives some history to the beast!
I actually like how they due legitimate research on the older Promo Carts, good job John
Really liked the history of the go cart company and the brochure.
Loved the documentation / history lesson! Always nice to know about the background of what you're building.
Thanks guys that was fun. Can't wait to see the race.
Hey guys. I wanted to take a minute to say thank you for your channel. I have learned a ton from you guys. I am getting back into dirt kart racing and I am going to be running a 212 built of course. I am definitely learning a ton as I go but I have definitely picked up a ton of great information from you guys. Thank you again and I have to say your channel is a lot of fun to watch
Wouldn’t mind seeing an in depth toolbox tour/ inventory tour. Tools you guys use maybe where they came from. Maybe engines you have hanging around and misc parts. It would both be cool to see and maybe give viewers a chance to better come up with ideas. Just a thought
Nice ride and video guys .need a chain saw motor on it badly
Thumbs up on the sales brochure and the Burn Out ! Good times
A race with either would be fun or race against both be even better love the videos keep them coming
Pamphlet was cool, thank u guys for making such awesome videos!!
Hey guys cool stuff , you inspired my broke ass to start on building some carts for my niece and nephews , honestly i appreciate the idea and motivation.
For sure the paper was cool. Fun knowing the history of stuff like this
Love the build, and the historical documents just add that much more to the story
Definitely - the brochure was interesting!! Trust your instincts and video what you think is cool!
I love the colors it changed on the exhaust. Got to love how heat does that to metal. It would be nice to see a build that looks old but drives with a more modern parts from frame to engine. It would be like the dragrail but a vintage race kart. It needs to be done in the glory of the individuals that made it
Totally dig the old sales brochure!
9:00 I might be biased because I'm a huge nerd but I absolutely love all information about these old almost forgotten carts. Especially since it was and actual brochure from back when the cart was relatively new. Also powerful twostroke. Alsoalso I have NEVER seen a burnout end like that! I suspect I never will see that again either, that's hilarious.
Love the history and the different engine builds
Love the history of the cart.. wish it had motor specs!!
Rat rod race for sure. And the brochure adds a lot of history to the cart which was neat. Love the build as always
That was a really good kart burnout, even popped a tire! Right on!!!
I remember something that looked a lot like these running around Blackpool Pleasure Beach when I was a child back in the 70s and early 80s in the UK
Love that history I love history on certain things especially anything automotive or mechanical and keep doing what you doing I enjoy your channel
The history behind it all is super cool.
Just a thought, back in the 90’s we used 1/4” ice maker tubing, fittings, and steel cable for throttle cables. It’s nice because you can just have cable and tubing around for stock and you can use the fittings into your brackets to mount them. Plus they’re super cheap and you can custom make any length you want. Also they don’t seem to stick like the steel ones as much. Might give it a try as much custom stuff as you guys do.
I love the history my grandpa was a hobbyist and built model t’s and seeing that really hits home for me I looked it up after I watched the video and it looked like one he built back in the day was really awesome I hope to see more of this from you guys
That's a beautiful machine. Some kind of rooster-tail exhaust and some double-wide tires in back would set it off just right without wrecking the period aesthetic.
Awesome stage burny! Need wider tires and a posi rearend for those drifting donuts in the future! Great video guys and keep'm coming.
It’s cool to be able to get to see some of the information behind the go karts in my opion
Ratrod wagon dude no questions. And you should build that fire truck from the catalog that would be sick!!!!!
Oh it'll be fine gotta love old school built things loved the history that u got on it as well super cool the indy cart needs some wider wheel give it a mean stance look and I belive it would help with the turn to be not as sketchy looking I know u guys said the steering is good and to keep in original is cool but uve already change the motor so keeping it original is out plus i think its gonna give it one awesome azz aggresive look awesome find guys...
Love seeing the history on ANYTHING. Especially on something this odd and rare.
Hi guys, i loved the broucher information, those wee rigs look amazing, any chance of a set of, photocopies of them, I'd be happy to pay for the postage costs and any photocopy costs as well guys.
That was freaking amazing with the new engine fitted. Really loved the burn out with the foot brake lol
I never thought I'd like you're videos as much as I do.
What about the chopper, i freaking love it, hurry up and get er dun again. 😀👍👍👍
Damn....flashback to 33 years ago when i was 5. I forgot all about having a 10 lizzy. That thing went nowhere real fast (about walking speed). Loving the resto project.
