This entire album was shockingly beautiful from start to finish. Full on masterpiece. And Frozen still sounds like it was recorded this morning, and it's 2020.
I remember the day this came out. I was on a road trip and the dj on the radio played it for the first time. He was so blown away he played it again! I was so mesmerized. Ahead of its time. Honestly it’s one of my favorite Madonna songs ever.
Right after the video premiere on MTV I bought Frozen as a maxi single. Everyone was obsessed with this magic song. Nobody expected Madonna to bring out something like this at that time!!! Genius!
Very impressed with your analysis of this song and video. Most reactions to M back catalogue are not very thoughtful, the younger generation isn’t very bright and get caught up in how she looks or the fashion ( which is part of the package yes) but they lose the message. It’s quite depressing. I was 20 when this came out. It was her introduction back to the music scene after a 4 year hiatus. She had recently given birth to her first child, and motherhood changed her perspective on life, she became far more consciously introspective during this time at the ripe age of 40. Ray of light the music video swept the VMAs in 98 , but I felt this video was superior. Fun fact, originally the video was going to be filmed in Iceland, but proved to be to cold. She was barefoot. The desert was cold too -and desolate, mimicking the lack of emotional honesty referenced in the song. Thank you for your reaction. I subscribed
I bet you're referring to, among others, two gay pals who struggle to watch Madonna videos without a running and intrusive dialogue? I feel your frustration too. Really enjoying the reactions from Derek tho, very thoughtful
Yes! Nowadays new generations (say less than 27 or 28) are accustomed in receiving any information including media and entertainment so fast ,digestible and recyclable the details are ignored or depth and experimental ideas are not a thing, symptom of living in the information era but not the knowledge era.... ..not like back in the days, where artists were more experimental and breakthrough because there were many more social and mind barriers to open and the art and messages were more raw, was more of finding the lost gems or hidden art message of the video. The impact of the music video like it was created in the 80s and 90s is something we may never see again executed with that cinematic experimental brilliance and with a social purpose that nowadays the majority of young generations and video reactors assume they were born with that artistic freedom or that special effects or social narratives in music were not a “thing” pre 2000s 😂
You got it . Vapid. DanD I believe one of them is named. One reacted to Like a prayer and the simple, pretty straight forward message went right over his little head. It’s sad actually. They really comment on how “ old “ the video looks., and use words like “ sis” and others. It’s sad, I mean, I was 12 when LAP was released I understood it was about racial inequality and the hypocrisy of the Christian church. It’s sad really, and they’re not even that attractive to look at either
The Album Ray of light is one of the best produced records of the 90ties.. incredible sophisticated. frozen is just one of many (even better) songs on this album. You hear something new everytime. She never did a better job before or after
I think Confessions on a dance floor is in the same level of ray of light. I think Madonna's carreer has two peaks: ray of light and confessions on a dance floor
I’m 47 years old, and for us is very important the appreciation from the new generations about the music that ruled or moments…. Real and sincere reaction and comments👍👍
This video is probably one of the best videos of all time and for me the most beautiful video of all. No choreos, no dancers, nothing but herself in a cold desert. So haunting, so atmospheric. Pure art.
En mi opinión este disco de Madonna es el mejor de su carrera. En mi adolescencia lo escuché millones de veces y nunca me cansaré de escucharlo y ver sus videoclips. Una obra arte 😍😍
For those that don't know Madonna's inspirations, prior historical trend setters, roll models. Martha Graham: was an American contemporary pioneer in Modern Dance. Actually, since Madonna majored in dance. And when Madonna moved to NYC. Madonna joined Martha Grahams dance ensemble, for a brief stunt. If you Google Martha Graham. You see the inspiration to this video.
I'm glad that you're letting the whole video play through. I think this is the most professional and unobtrusive way of reacting. While I don't mind short comments or a video being paused two to three times, anything more than becomes an annoyance, and makes you give up watching certain UA-camrs reactions. At that point it stops being a reaction and becomes a commentary, as I'm sure many watchers will agree. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Madonna is a really big legend ..and she s alive !! She deserves so much honors .. she s ahead since the beginning ..visionary artist ..she s vibrant ..deep and talented .. she s not afraid to take so much risks in the name of Art ...she s not stand on her throne ! She s ahead ...forward .. more and more ...over and over ...thx Dereck
This is where my M fandom shot into the stratosphere. This era took many folks by surprise. I'm still in love with it, the album is a music masterpiece.
Please don't close your eyes is one of the most iconic videos... with an incredible cinematography and won MTv's best special effects ;) hope you had a chance to enjoy it again
My friends and I were there when MTV's Kurt Loader was there to interview her. And we also got to see the rest of the video being made. It was filmed in the Mojave Desert here in California.
Omg I can't comment because you actually got everything this song/video portrayed. On point with your assessment that's for sure! I recommend you watch anything from Girlie Show tour especially 'Why's It So Hard".
React to the ray of light music video next! It’s off the same album!! The whole era was a musical masterpiece! It was an early experimentation with electronica while merging it with pop. Till this day nothing comes close to the pure magic that is the Ray of light album.
Brilliant!! My favourite song and video from Madonna. And go beyond and create a choreography with it. So much to do with this song. It is so versatile
She uses her hands like tools or props. You will notice in a lot of her videos she uses her hands to pull you in. Her hands have always fascinated me. Very strong and powerful.
Visually, I think she looked her best ever in this video, absolutely stunning. The hair colour really brought out her natural beauty here along with the video for "The power of goodbye"
The director of the video is Chris Cunningham, an amazing visual artist. He did videos for Aphex Twin "Come to Daddy" and Bjork "All is Full of Love". Bjork's video was really visually striking.
This is stunning that, in fact, this particular song from Madonna is really loved by so different kind of music lovers. Jazz, Techno, hiphop, Metal, Symphonic, Raï and so many more, you will always find someone in every style of music who could say they know and love Frozen.
I think this whole album is her best work. Her collaboration with William Orbit brought out the best in her in my opinion. I loved Madonna since I was a little girl in the late 80s but this song is my favourite of everything she released. Beautiful.
In this video she is representing the ancient greek Goddess of witches HECATE. She is a triple & one Goddess, she dress in black, her animals are crows and black dogs, and also have the Keys of the Other World ("you are the key" she sings). So, she says "open your heart" and "give yourself to me" so you can be unfrozen ...
Madonna’s “Frozen” is seductive and mesmerizing, and like what you’ve said, her voice is on point... I love her comeback after giving birth to her daughter Lourdes and to the film genre, portraying the epic Eva Peron in “Evita”
This was an incredible comeback in the UK. Her first number 1 in 8 years, the previous being Vogue. Top 10 of Madonna singles for mean considering her body of work that's no mean feat.
Great job breaking down the video and song, Dereck. One of my favorite Madonna songs. This is from the Ray of Light CD, the first music she released after Evita. Her vocals on this song are so pristine. You can really tell the impact of all the vocal training she did to prepare for Evita. The only negative thing I could say about the song itself is that I feel it just kind of goes on a little too long. The thing I like most about the song (other than her vocals) is how the song is in such a minor key. It doesn't really have a mainstream sound to the song, but it was a pretty big hit. It just goes to show just how popular she was at the time it was released.
This song is why she is a Diva. The symbols on her hands are written in Sanskrit. The movements she makes are mudras (prayers for the liberation from suffering of all living beings).
Thank U for this!! I appreciate so much people like you reacting to the one and only Queen!! You have a new suscriber!! I'm eager to see more of you reacting to Madonna!! Cheers!! #StaySafe #StayAtHome
In my opinion Frozen is the best video clip and the best song by Madonna; by the way you could also react to the God Control video which is also very good
This album is where Madonna went from pop star to a legendary artistic genius. this album was a re-birth for her.
Concordo totalmente!! 👏👏
one of the BEST song and video in HISTORY!!!
Still is 2 years later
THE BEST, hands down!!
This entire album was shockingly beautiful from start to finish. Full on masterpiece. And Frozen still sounds like it was recorded this morning, and it's 2020.
Madonna at her best. A true piece of art
I remember the day this came out. I was on a road trip and the dj on the radio played it for the first time. He was so blown away he played it again! I was so mesmerized. Ahead of its time. Honestly it’s one of my favorite Madonna songs ever.

Don’t despair. It seems the Gen Z reactors understand Madonna better than the Britney generation (ie Millennials).
It's an orchestral masterpiece. The album Ray of Light stayed on in my car for over a year when this came out :P AMAZING album.
The Album Ray of light is one of the best produced records of the 90ties.. incredible sophisticated. frozen is just one of many (even better) songs on this album. You hear something new everytime. She never did a better job before or after
Agreed. Ray of Light is Madonna's Magnum Opus.
My favorite album of hers
I think Confessions on a dance floor is in the same level of ray of light. I think Madonna's carreer has two peaks: ray of light and confessions on a dance floor
Ray of light would be a great album if released today.
AFTER ROL AND MUSIC AND CONFERENCE ON THE DANCE FLOOR THAT IT
I’m crazy about u! Ur fabulous-- FROZEN IS TIMELESS ,GOTHIC , AND GORGEOUS 💙👍
it is her best single ever.
Madonna always takes one on a journey. It's so nice to see somebody of such a different generation to understand her Art.
I’m 47 years old, and for us is very important the appreciation from the new generations about the music that ruled or moments…. Real and sincere reaction and comments👍👍
This song still gives me chills
Dereck should start doing his Madonna reactions shirtless!

Naked even better
Oh yes please, a thousand votes from me! :D
Yes mama
Yell louder
We need him to hear that😂🤣
yes
This video is probably one of the best videos of all time and for me the most beautiful video of all. No choreos, no dancers, nothing but herself in a cold desert. So haunting, so atmospheric. Pure art.
THis why she is the QUEEN
I LOOOVE RAY OF LIGHT ALBUM!
Keep going. The depth of her catalogue is amazing.
This song will be FOREVER FROZEN in TIME
I'll admit I'm not a huge Madonna fan..
But I can't live without hearing this song every now and then.
Haunting.... Is how I feel it.
Frozen is the best madonna song greetings from belgium
Best Madonna Era !!! hands down
My favourite Madonna song ever!!
En mi opinión este disco de Madonna es el mejor de su carrera.
En mi adolescencia lo escuché millones de veces y nunca me cansaré de escucharlo y ver sus videoclips.
Una obra arte 😍😍
Ray of light ,Like a Prayer ,sus mejores álbumes ,en cuanto a estructura y composición...
Listened to that song so much when I was 9, definitely formed my taste in music
For those that don't know Madonna's inspirations, prior historical trend setters, roll models.
Martha Graham: was an American contemporary pioneer in Modern Dance. Actually, since Madonna majored in dance. And when Madonna moved to NYC. Madonna joined Martha Grahams dance ensemble, for a brief stunt. If you Google Martha Graham. You see the inspiration to this video.
This is the top her career, stunning!
This song is her evoultion of pop to perfection. My favourite of hers
The entire album Ray of Light is masterful, from vocals to instrumentals to spiritual energy....
So glad you enjoy this and really appreciate the art and music quality in it.
I'm glad that you're letting the whole video play through. I think this is the most professional and unobtrusive way of reacting. I just saw your reaction! One of the best… enjoyed how you described the musical spell that she was portraying to us all! A+
React The Power of Goodbye from the same album next, please! Beautiful sad track with her best vocal performance!
Bandido894 wow! Love this song too (makes me cry too)
She isn't call the QUEEN for nothing. There is only one Madonna . ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great reaction! Such a beautiful song!! Madonnas vocals were silky smooth.
❤️ love it!! Love Madonna - a true masterpiece
"Frozen" and "The Power of Good-Bye" are massively underrated Madonna tunes. Maybe I'm just broody.
100000% agree (hehehe sorry about the exaggeration) 😂 but I love this album and those two songs ❤️
This is where my M fandom shot into the stratosphere. This era took many folks by surprise. I'm still in love with it, the album is a music masterpiece.

My friends and I were there when MTV's Kurt Loader was there to interview her. And we also got to see the rest of the video being made. It was filmed in the Mojave Desert here in California.
This was played at my father's funeral after his suicide in 2007. I agree with your interpretation 👍
Such an enjoyable reaction. You explore the audio, visual and physical angles of the songs of Madonna

Omg I can't comment because you actually got everything this song/video portrayed. On point with your assessment that's for sure! I recommend you watch anything from Girlie Show tour especially 'Why's It So Hard".
Best release of her career IMO. Period. The vocal, the William Orbit production, the video - all impeccable!
best single ever released in the history of human civilization and the video is ground breaking, literally speaking.
React to the ray of light music video next! It’s off the same album!! The whole era was a musical masterpiece! It was an early experimentation with electronica while merging it with pop. Till this day nothing comes close to the pure magic that is the Ray of light album.

This is my song to die for ❤️ I live for this song ❤️

She uses her hands like tools or props. You will notice in a lot of her videos she uses her hands to pull you in. Her hands have always fascinated me. Very strong and powerful.
This video is perfect, the queennnnnnnnnn
This song has always been my favorite of hers. The video implements imagery of the Morrigan so hypnotizingly well.
Visually, I think she looked her best ever in this video, absolutely stunning. The hair colour really brought out her natural beauty here along with the video for "The power of goodbye"

I love the way you dissect things. I'm so happy you went on a journey too! Keep up the awesome work. Liked and subbed!
Finally! Someone who is discovering the Madonna catalog with intelligence!
Thank you! Liked and prescribed 👍
Agreed--this was her period of some real artistry, and her best Video.. (Before and after she was merely a pop princess.)
My all time favorite Madonna song!

Love your reaction to the music video you just feel it which makes it more interesting to see you how you react. Thank you 😇
I love the fluidity of this video as well as the music.

I was around ten when this came out but I remember every time it aired on the radio, it made me stop everything just to listen to it...frozen.
Hey Dereck. Greetings from Argentina. Please react to "Secret". It's my favorite Madonna song and the video is so beautiful.
@Leandro Carron hola! Genial. Yo soy de Santa Fe.
Hola yo tambien! de buenos aires!

React to Ghosttown, an artistic track! Even at 32 years later her career starts (2015) she gave us a beautiful ballad from Rebel Heart.🖤🖤🖤🖤
And Joan of art
William Orbit produced right?
Beth Watkins yes
In my opinion Frozen is the best video clip and the best song by Madonna; by the way you could also react to the God Control video which is also very good
Check out her videos for "Rain" and "Bad Girl" from the Erotica album.
Amazing song. Amazing video!
Great song, great video and Madonna looks excellent in it!
