The backing vocalists is singer producer Babyface, he wrote this and one or two other songs with Madonna on the album Bedtime Stories (1994). There was no tour for this album. Because she was going to start filming the film Evita which came out in 1996. ‘Don’t Cry ForMe Argentina is the cover song from the movie also music video is from the film, check it out, her vocals were the best.
I remember her taking vocal lessons for Evita. At the time, I thought "Why?" But now I understand.
yes and he produced this too
After Tupac
She was also ADAMANT that she should only sing and hated his idea to harmonize and echo parts of the chorus.
They argued for quite a while about it,but thankfully Babyface won out.
I just can't imagine this track without his vocal contribution
And her Evita vocal training made Ray of Light her best album vocally
Part 2 of this video “You’ll See” also beautiful sonically and visually
He has already reacted to You’ll See 4 weeks ago.

BabyFace's backup vocals DEFINITELY putted this song "over the top!" - 🤩😍🥰.
"Take a Bow" is a Masterpiece ! so visually alluring.
Babyface did the very best job of producing her voice. Her vocals in this era are so gorgeous and warm, and Babyface's backing vocals are the perfect complement to her voice. I wish they had done more work together.
The video was filmed in Ronda (south of Spain ), I live in Cádiz, 2 hours from Ronda so I decided to drive to Ronda and I was there the last 3 days of the filming, I took many pictures of madonna in different sets of the video, running behind of her car from set to set, I had her 2 meters from me when she was leaving the building were madonna had the interview for MTV, that was crazy
Hermoso!
@OScar Delgado wow cool!! I remember this video and the album was all over VH1 back in 1994; I remember she interviewed with Kurt Loder on the set
That’s incredible
Si tu...Sr Delgado....😍
This music topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for seven weeks.
Rafael C S is it six or seven weeks? I’m always confused.
Michael Politakis 7
@@Mysicalgreenunicorn03 7 👍
Rafael C S thank you. I always hear conflicting figures
Unfortunately in the U.K charts it has only reached #16 after 31 consecutive 31 top 10 hits.
One of madonnas most beautiful ballads....& I lost my virginity with this song playing softly in the background back in 1995!! This song will ALWAYS be special for me!!!😍😍
Wow
😂😂😂
The lyrics of take a bow are incredible
Her best ballad, and definitely one of my favorite videos of hers - because of the cinematic quality!
FAR from underrated...this was Madonna's longest running #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit (7 weeks!). The background singer was Babyface, who co-produced the 1994 song with her. The video was shot in Ronda, Spain. Her lover is played by Emilio Muñoz, at that time Spain's premiere bullfighter. A little controversy once again followed Madonna here, from animal rights activists who complained about the cruelty of bullfighting. Ironically, since the bull was featured in this video & could therefore no longer be used for bullfighting, she saved its life, and paid for it to be sent to a farm to live out its life. It's notable that you mentioned hearing an Asian-inspired melody during it.....now you have to watch the live performance of this song at the American Billboard Awards, where that Asian-inspiration is played to full effect!
More importantly, you must watch 1996's "You'll See", another stunning ballad which is Madonna's first sequel video, following and completing the storyline of the 'Take A Bow' video. They have to be watched back-to-back! Both stunning, visually & vocally.
Great reaction (even with all the pauses...ahem)! 😏
I feel she over sang in the awards performance with Baby Face. But still good.
It was a flop in the U.K. ended a massive run of top 10 singles for her ... ive no idea why
He already did "You'll See" : ua-cam.com/video/hgAV0ZrNQEg/v-deo.html
@@s.e.landeros280 Seriously? I thought that was one of her best live performances! Everyone has different opinions.....
@@nunogouveia6458 Ugh! I wish he would have know it was a sequel!
Here in Brazil, we Love Madonna! The REAL queen of pop! Hugs from Brazil!!! See ya!
“You’ll See” is the part 2 and react to badgirl and ghosthown
This is an amazing song ever and the backing vocalist is called babyface
This song is rumored to be about her relationship with Warren Beatty. The follow up song is You'll See. Take A Bow was a bigger hit but You'll See is my favorite. Both are great.
Madonna took a page from Carly Simon and has never publicly acknowledged who this song was written about.
Sean Penn, Antonio Banderas, and Warren Beatty have all been at the top of the speculation list.
It's definitely not about Warren Beatty, who was just a "fling" --- she has stated the song is about Sean Penn, because she wanted the video to be about an actor and not a bullfighter
@German Morawski She's said only that she wrote that song "about someone", but has never publicly stated who.
Antonio Banderas...
This is my favorite Madonna song of all time! I was 16 when this was released, and I had the biggest crush on one of my friends. I wasn't out, and he was straight, but every once in awhile we would make this connection with our eyes that would just pierce through me. I'd always freak out and break eye contact and start talking about something random. If only I could go back and not be so afraid! Oh well! Anyway, I always think of him when I hear this song, and I thank you for reviewing it. ~Chris
I love the strings and the background vocals it's one of the main things that make this song sooo goood. Also, this song is about how people act one way in public and another behind closed doors. Hence take a bow.
She’s very clever in her writing, and many times seems to write in the third person, at times being ironic. At the same time, she will write just have fun, catchy, pop/club dance bangers..
She is clever but Babyface wrote this one
Thank you for clarifying and keeping it real ;) Babyface deserves allele the credit where it's due. He is one of the best song writers of our time!!!
@@cbebop5 oh for sure. Babyface is a mastermind. Look at all the hits he wrote for Boyz II Men. Their vocal talents combined with his writing created timeless hits , just like this one with Madonna.
Your analysis was excellent. It was Spain and Babyface was singing. There’s a live version from American Music Awards with both of them
Damn good performance!!
That's Babyface singing back-up. He co-wrote the song with Madonna. Also she conceived this video as an audition tape for Evita. She got the part and it's the best movie she's ever made.
Please react to Madonna - “Bad Girl” too, one of her best ballads and music videos
Her "I'm a slut and I'm going to die at the end" video. I love her no brows look in that one. ;)
A masterpiece by director David Fin her. Incredible song and video.
React to Madonna - “Oh Father” a beautiful ballad loaded with symbolism.
YES
Babyface is the backing vocals !
yup and he produced this--can totally tell too
We are waiting for the full "CONFESSIONS TOUR REACTION"
X2
X3
And Blond ambition tour!
yeeees!!!
Yes! Come on Dereck
Its called a xylophone.
Yes!!!😉
👍
You should really watch the video for Bad Girl. It's like a little movie and one of my favorite Madonna videos.
Plus, her wavy blond hair with a black beret is one of her prettiest images
Underrated? It's technically her biggest song.
You guys must see the 1995 AMA's, outstanding!!!
You've seen "You'll See" a few weeks ago - video it's the continuation of this one first but now you get what happens before. She did filmed this video in Spain. MTV did a behind the scenes special there.
Fun fact: This was Madonna longest #01 in US (7 weeks at #01 on Hot 100) and was also Madonna first single to miss UK TOP 10 (peaked #16 in UK) after 36 consecutive Top 10 singles (still by far the most among all artists in UK). This song was released in December, biggest and busiest season of the year. Madonna did this video to prove Alan Parker ("Evita" director) that she was the right fit for the part. And she did grab the part and even won a Golden Globe as Best Actress for her performance on "Evita" movie.
Glad you like both the video and the song.
This track is for the grown and sexy....pure gold. Thank you for reacting to this. Babyface is a genius.
Should have been voted best MTV award for cinematic appeal. 5 Star Madonna. Babyface is genius and originally composed this song for Madonna, (Babyface) doing the vocal assistance as well.
Both are great artist of the 90s. Long lived
Baby Face did a damn good job on the back up vocals!!!
It’s one of the most classy and artsy videos ever. Loved the catholic imagery, the play on obsession with the matador and the final part where she felt so used and abused. One of the best videos of all time
“By whoever the background vocalist is”. That’s THEE Babyface. Come one now! 😩
This song was huge ,when I was a teen🖤
Especially in US. In Europe was big but not as big as "Secret" or even "Bedtime Story" and "Human Nature".
Just caught “probably underrated”. It played in the super market, even then!
Thanks for the wonderful comment. You did well in scrutinizing the music video. You are very smart. One of my fave music videos of Madonna. I was already in high school when the album and the video came out. I still love this song.
another masterpiece by Madonna, i lover her
This is one of my favourite Madonna songs 💕
Written, composed and produced by Babyface and in my opinion, he actually MADE the song GREAT by singing the background vocals. His voice is so good and they did a lovely duet...this song has always been my favorite by Madonna but honestly it just wouldn't be as beautiful without Babyface singing on it.
You'll see should of won Song of the Year and A Grammy.
Love MADONNA❤️
THANKS!
Babyface brought his magic to the singing and writing/production of this song. Bedtime Stories is her best work
I don’t consider myself a Madonna fan, but this song I can listen to on repeat for hours! It’s that amazing.
I love this song, tragically beautiful❣ I remember this song helped after my boyfriend of 6 years changed before my eyes or i was blind to his "acting" of who he wanted to portray himself to be.
You need a career in broadcasting or television. You have the voice and the presence and the smarts.
Wow thank you!
Background vocals by Babyface and it’s such a good contrast with Madonna. Amazing collaboration. Some say this song is about her relationship with Warren Beatty. The cinematic and orchestra treatment were meant to seal her role in Evita. Your analysis as usual is spot on 👏👏❤️
Cinematic and original video, the music was soulful, subtle and velvety sound and the lyrics with a deep meaning. The backing vocal singer is Baby Face. Another recommendation by her would be "Live to tell" on True Blue. One more suggestion about Madonna might be a b-side, unreleased or unknown track.
Babyface's vocals are beautiful.
The symbolism here is great. The bull = Madonna. Lured in, taunted and teased by the bullfighter, but ultimately he kills the bull i.e. breaks her heart. When she's in the bed the sheets are reminiscent of the bullfighter's cape. Check out "You'll See" if you haven't already. It's "Part 2" of this video and like you said she's at her best when she's emotional. She doesn't so much get revenge as simply accepts her fate and moves on. Only then does he realize what he had but it's too late. Both videos are beautiful.
Love your breakdown of the symbolism! It's beautiful and really makes sense! Thank you
Yes the vocal is babyface and is the producer. The video was her camera audition for her role to Evita and is the part one of the history, the second is You'll see .
I have loved this song since it was released. Since I first heard it, I always thought of it as a declaration of love to her fans. We have a lot of elements of The Girlie Show here: this masquerade getting older (she was around 32), everybody loves a clown, one lonely star (everybody is a star), all the world is a stage and so forth. Maybe it’s just me... I thought the inspiration to write this was the tour. Anybody?
Madonna sent a copie of this video to Alan Parker to get the part on Evita!!! Blessings from Buenos Aires!!!🙏🙌🇦🇷❤🎶🎵🌹😎👑
It wasn’t underrated- it was number 1 for 7 weeks in America 😁✨
Love baby face on this song. As backup and written the song as well
YOU'LL SEE it is the second part of this song. Thank u for reacted to this piece of art TAKE A BOW stayed for 7 weeks at the number one position in billboard.
This song is perfect..
Her background vocalist is Babyface, just one reason is sounds so great.
My Favourite Madonna song
Masterpieces. Music & Video.
I listen to this a lot atm. I really re-doscovered the album "I'll remember" and "Ray of light". My two favourite ones.
I remember hearing this on the season finale of Friends back in the day...before the day.
The supporting vocals is by singer/songwriter Babyface. If you haven't already looked into him, I recommend it..beautiful voice!
Your Madonna reactions improved a lot. You have something to say about it.
Next: 'Nothing really matters' and 'Paradise(not for me)' please
A Very Beautiful Song!
a Beautifull Madonna song with babyface love it , love the video and the style of the video and madonna looks stunning :)
It's a beautiful song. Kind of speaks to me in the same way as ABBAs Winner Takes It All. Same sort of story, but told very differently.
I ❤ the strings arrangement of this song, so beautiful and not repetitive! especially if you listen to the album versions. it is a whole masterpiece on its own, listen to the instrumental version then it is already a beautiful song alone! brilliant song❤ and the main melody of the chorus is also mostly pentatonics, most used in Chinese song melodies, that’s why she wore chinese outfit in American Music Awards while performing this❤
#1 for 6 weeks
I think you have already reacted to You'll See which is visually the sequel to this video. Madonna was actively campaigning for the part in Evita and this video is heavily stylised to help persuade the director of the film that she was right for the part.
Fun fact. Her nail polish was Chanel Vamp. A blood red black. I was disciplined at work for wearing it. Now dark nail colors are accepted. At that time the Ritz Carlton was having none of it even for management.
Awesome song ❤it
Not an underrated Madonna song. It spent 7 weeks at #1. It's her best performing song. Even people who hate Madonna love this song.
Can you react to Madonna Bad Girl video from Erotica Album?
You're gonna love it!
She had stated that she made this video as her audition for the role of Evita
Another fantastic reaction, please react to 'This Used to Be My Playground' by Madonna, another amazing #1 emotional ballad and my personal favorite song from her.
Semi ballad which is amazing is I Rise. From the last album Madame X. I cry every time
MADONNA... THE GREATEST TRUE ARTIST OF ALL TIME!
YOU'LL SEE is a must seen right after this
Okay Babyface I hear you in the background
I’ve watched several reaction videos to this song and I don’t think I’ve seen anybody quite pick up on the metaphor of the lyrics. It’s comparing a relationship with a metaphor of an actor in a play. She’s in love, but she’s being led on by somebody who’s taking her for granted, like an actor faking it. Almost as if she’s saying, “Bravo you fooled me. You deserve an award.”
To me, the heroes of the song are the string section and Babyface’s backing vocals, which just completely pull this whole piece together and is one of the most beautiful songs/arrangements ever.
Part 2 "you'll see" is a ballad but she's stronger emotionally in it the words are amazing, all be myself I don't need anyone at all I know I'll survive I know I'll stay alive.
Did a react to this check it out!❤️
Definitely take a look at you'll see, the sequel to take a bow. I think that song is so ppwerful, love the reactions tha ks.
Beautiful song 😍
It was filmed in RONDA In the south of Spain. It’s the oldest bull ring in Spain. Beautiful mountain town.
lovely reaction Dereck :)
Love this song!!!
Excellent! I like this reaction more than others, I see that you analyzed the lyrics, the images and Madonna as an artist more deeply. Amazing video and beautiful song.
Class 1995 ! SDHS this was a massive hit at our senior prom. Haha. Hope ya well D.
Love Ur reactions :) a lot!
This song only reached #16 in U.K charts after consecutive 31 top 10 singles upto this song.
You're gonna love "Bad girl" :)
Madonna sent this video to the producer of her movie Evita as an audition together with a letter with a long explanation of why is she fit for the role of Eva Peron.
Cool.. Love it Dereck
Please react to this song being performed live on the American Music Awards or is it the Billboard Awards....with Madonna and Babyface standing on podiums. Iconic.
I love your reactions :)
Maybe my top Madonna video... though I have so may top ones. This is a beautiful piece of art.
This is SO beautiful!! “You’ll See” is like part 2,
“Baby face “ IS the other singer!
ALSO , u have to see their live performance at the American Music Awards( I think) anyway it’s GORGEOUS and LIVE😀
U rock my man, I love your reactions!!!
👍💙
Zane
good reaction on madonna take a bow music video !!!
I think it’s about time for you to react to the “Bedtime Story” video. The song, written by Bjork for Madonna, was a totally different electronic sound for her, opening the road to the Ray of Light era. The video was the most expensive video of its time, full of great images and symbols, a true masterpiece and permanent element of a museum’s exhibition, as a unique example of modern video art.
She used this video and photos and sent them to the people who were wanting to make the movie Evita. She was trying to pitch herself in the starring role, I don’t know if this video persuaded them, but eventually she was cast as Eva Peron.
Babyface is a genius..
Indeed
