    I like the video. I find it very informative. But the stuff you need to see being done were the things not shown. Like where the jack point in the front is. The points where you placed the jack stands. I know that seems small and common knowledge. But for some one that has never worked on a car. It's important. Especially with safety. Plus taking off the guide pins. I noticed when you talked about putting them back in and the plastic coverings. But in the begging when taking them apart nothing was said about them. I haven't done the brakes yet. I will be in about an hour. Taking the clips off. And putting them on. How the wear sensor clips in and out. Again I know these seem small. But to someone like me they are very important. That being said. The sound was spot on. Witch is a big issue with most videos I watch. Next. You spoke perfectly. Easy to understand. But not so simple as to be insulting. The camera angles were great and the lighting was perfect. Had a good flow and inspired me with the enough confidence to do the job. I loved the added tricks to do the job rite. But not to much info. All around I would say great video. Thank you for the effort and time you clearly put into it. Sorry for the long post lol. I normally don't get that critical. Unless I really like it. High praises.

      Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. It’s a bit of a balancing act getting the level of detail right to satisfy a wide range of viewers skill levels. It’s great to hear from your perspective though. I’ve done a seperate video on jacking up the vehicle with my other cars which is applicable to most jobs. I’ll have to look at doing one for the X5 sometime soon! That’s great to hear the video inspired you to complete the job yourself. As you build your compatency and save labour costs in the process I’m sure you’ll find it very rewarding

    Surprised you didn't torque the hanger and slider bolts down. Also recommended to replace the retainer spring. Great quality video.

      I very rarely use a torque wrench. Good tip on on the retainers, not a bad idea when they get old

    I always clean the hub before putting the new rotor on. If there is rust or dirt behind it the rotor may have a slight wobble.

      Thanks man, yeah good practice if there’s any uncertainty about the hub surface 👍

    Oh one ad on. I find it very handy when people post the tool and size list. That way set up is a breeze. I hope I was to rough on you. I mean with all with respect.

    Good video, thinking about buying one of these so good to see how easy (or difficult) they are to work on. What are the new brake discs made of? I expected them to be shiny, but they are definitely not - so are they steel or some other material? Thanks.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks man, glad you found the video interesting. The disks have an anti corrosion coating on them instead of being bare steel. The coating at the pad surface wears off, but the rest of the disc remains rust free. Thanks for watching!

    Nice got to do this on mine today! Also I see your using a jack stand. Did you just put them in the factory cutouts where the stock scissor jack fits into or did you modify it in any way?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  3 роки тому

      I sat the factory plastic lift points onto the axle stands

      Just sat them on top of the axle stands, same as all my BMW’s, like in this video- ua-cam.com/video/LbLubutE2No/v-deo.html 👍
