Where NF-Ni is idealism on macro level, SF-Si is idealism on micro level NF-Ni wants a balanced world, SF-Si wants a balanced invidual NF-Ni wants people to live in harmony with eachother and not that some people are rich and others are poor SF-Si wants that each day there is not too much and not too little food on the table They're such similar concepts, yet their manifestations make them seem appear more different than they are
This is incredible! YES. I love the comparisons. Balanced world versus balanced individual. Too good. So yeah - NF-Ni is looking at reality at large at all times. It's permanently zoomed out of the present moment in favour of understanding humanity in a broader sense. SF-Si is looking at what is reliable & tried and true in reality. Zoomed in, it has a strong awareness of the day-to-day. It's more about harmony in a practical sense.
Balanced World vs Balanced Individual. I feel like I desire both and they often contradict each other in my decision-making. Is this because I'm a NF-Si?
I personally find INFJ and ISFJ the hardest to spot or type intuitively. Whenever someone tells me they are either of these types, I never see it at first but it makes sense later. Our family typed my Mom as an ISFJ. She is a retired nurse who thrived in routine, tradition and structure. She loves to keep memorabilia and photo albums of family memories. My Mom is a devout Catholic, so she never strayed away from her faith. She would always lecture us about maintaining our faith and beliefs. My Mom wakes up in the morning with a set routine as a retiree. She knows where everything belongs, she's organized, tidy and always looking for things to do or complete. She can sometimes nag too much or fixate on controlling people and things too much. She is completely thrown off when something new comes her away or an event doesn't go her way. She likes to process her emotions by herself, with lots of time and space. When she's hurt, she plays the martyr. She never asks for help when she needs it, and insists she's doing we'll when she's not. She's almost like an ESFJ like me, but she tends to take action and process things and conflicts more slowly. Making big decisions are hard for her and doesn't like to be rushed. When something new comes up or a new situation that leads in chaos, she's absolutely irritable and sometimes inconsolable! Another great panel Joyce! - ESFJ
I can tell them apart very well but that's because I'm an INFJ so I know how I function. If I see Fe in someone, there are 4 possible types. Fe dominant use is usually very visible, so automatically you rule out the two Fe dom types which leaves you with ISFJ or INFJ. If the Fe user communicates in a down to earth way, mostly chronologically and organised, with attention to detail, with no wild tangents, in a streamlined way, with not many metaphors and not drawing conclusions from seemingly unrelated issues but rather concentrating on what is or what was, not concentrating on the future and general, abstract insights, then you have a sensor, which rules out INFJ. You describe your mum like I would describe my grandmother who also was an ISFJ.
My daughter has high Si and she may be an ISFJ (she is still young, pre-teen, but the Si is clearly there) and I am INFJ. I am trying to learn how to support her the best way. This video helped me so much really see the differences between Si and Ni. Thank you!
This is really cool. I'm an INTP, my mom I think is an Si-dom, likely ISFJ. She's always teaching me new things that I can appreciate and that I never knew I would end up really liking. A lot of these things are things that would bring back memories, like taking pictures during road trips, having a diary etc. I am generally oblivious to these kinds of things, and I doubted how much I'd actually enjoy them, but when looking back at pictures I took, it gives me this nostalgic feeling that I never knew existed within me lol. Love you guys, teaching people like us, who don't know their own emotions, what matters in life. And Jordan, I agree with Joyce, you have an amazingly warm persona and I am sure that you're an amazing mother!
Much appreciated, @tigerheaddude!! Nice to hear about your mother and her ISFJ quirks. Thank you for taking the time to write this all, it was beautiful to read. :)
I wonder if the Si type values sameness and "comfort" *because* they are just so *ultra-sensitive* to sensory input from the physical world. Because their Si function absorbs everything into itself, a chaotic environment would understandably be overwhelming to them. As a result they try to keep sensory input to a manageable level by establishing routines and order in their environment. This is just a guess though, as I'm not an ISFJ or ISTJ myself.
I would like to say two things: when I (ISTJ) stick to some procedures I do it because I can focus better in bringing a better result rather than be comfortable; and I tend to think that one of the major differences between Ni and Si is that Ni fits information to bring a wide view and Si blends experiences to a unity and then achieve focus. Ps: I love your true desire to understand Si and give us better comparisons between it and Ni.
Hi Samuel! Very interesting how you use Si with Te to bring better more effective results :D Yes Ni "fits information to bring a wide view", so well put. I love your comment and I'm wondering if you would ever want to be on Type Talks (no pressure though!). It would be so great to listen to an ISTJ's perspective.
This is the most amazing video, thankyou so much ladies :) My wife is ISFJ and I am INFJ so this video popped out when I was looking for something to watch! My wife can remember, quite literally, what someone was wearing and what they said, even the circumstances around the conversation in IMMENSE detail from 15 year ago as if it just happened! It is nothing short of incredible to me. I thought Ni was amazing but I have to say that Si is also amazing! She also asks me on a regular basis, so what time did this or that happen? My reply 99% of the time is, I don't know...the afternoon sometime...I'm not sure... I actually attribute some of the mental difficulties she had/has to Si in that events in her past (which were horrifying) are recalled so vividly that she almost relives them over again :( Once again, thanks so much, this was wonderful, God bless you both :)
As an INFJ I honestly envy the practicality and discipline stemming from Si doms, especially when it comes to handling minutia. Maybe this also has to do with my ADHD, but I find day to day acrivities and chores like expenditures, food and supply to slip through my hands like grains of sand, always focusing on ideas and the world far into the future, or alternate realities entirely. To feel present and engaged with one's past, rather than encumbered and bogged down sounds like bliss, but I also don't think I'd trade my inner world for anything.
As an INTP (at least I think l'm an INTP) I find watching and listening to ISFJ's to be cathartic. I'm curious if this has something to do with my Si feeling heard by an Si-dom or it's more because I share the same function stack as the ISFJ. Does anyone else find listening to specific types to be particularly enjoyable over other personality types?
INTP here also and agree ISFJ’s are the most precious and smooth in their talking. They are likely the type I would think the hardest about before slapping a corrective accuracy-related comment at them, just because they can seem so gentle and innocent. No idea if this is specific for INTP or if perhaps all other types somehow feel the same.
It sounds like Ni users might like the books, "Generations" and "The Fourth Turning". I'm convinced these books will likely get iNtuitives more interested in History and Social Studies.
I would be very curious to see what Jordan Wiles E type and instinctual drive is to get a feel for how they add to or subtract from her Si and Fe functions. Or in other words, how do they flavor the functions? In theory the E type and especially the instinctual drive are more subconscious than the cognitive functions. So for instance if she has a social instinct in would give her more awareness of social dynamics and perhaps strengthen her Fe at least in groups. Whereas if she were self pres it would perhaps weaken her Fe. Likewise if she is a 2 or a 9 E type, which are more people focused, it would in theory highlight her Fe function. On the flip side lets say someone was trying to figure out their MBTI. If they were a 2, which is known as the befriender and people pleasers, it might make their Fe seem stronger than it really is. In which case this theoretical person might be more likely to be typed as an Fe dominant type like an ENFJ or ESFJ as opposed to their actual type like an INFJ or ISFJ. Just a thought.

You both explained the differences of Si and Ni so well.
The warmth of Fe really shines through too. Really good video!
Thank you Ma Mu!! Your comments never cease to make me smile. :)
Finally! - ISFJ happy to see an isfj vid. ❤️
Haha, more ISFJ videos to come in the future!! 💖
Thats good, theyseem to be overlooked by most. Possibly due to their being a majority of their personality typed of ISFJ?

As an INFJ that mistyped as ISFJ, this is fantastic. I relate quite a bit to Joyce's experiences. Thank you for this 🙏
Hopefully we can see some esfj
As an INFJ I feel that I have a comprehensive and universal outlook

I agree with everything you said @E C! Nice inference into Si. 🙂
I am an infj 6w5. This video is so amazing, relatable and you guys are so cute. I wish I could find a Isfj in my life 💕

So happy you enjoyed watching, Shaun! :) Interesting contrast between you and your wife. Thank you for sharing.
Love this! Hope to see more ISFJ videos soon :)
45:30 -- This exactly what I like about working as a dishwasher as an INFP. Plenty of opportunity to space off.
I wonder how ISFJs in general are about writing thank you notes. My mom ISFJ constantly harping on her kids to write thank you notes to people.
Good food for thought! Writing thank you notes is so Si-Fe :D haha because it's all about how we should treat each other.
Yes. Have to show appreciation
@@JoyceMeng22 could this too be fi value also? Trying to learn!
Nice, an interview with an ISFJ. And a good one! Thanks Joyce
My pleasure! Thanks for the listen, ESTP Baaf. :)

No, Joyce, let her do me!!!! ME! Jordan, ME!
Haha - we all want Jordan's Fe compliments!!

On another show, I heard Jordan say she’s an Enneagram type 1.
