This is the most helpful video I've seen on this. Simple and straight forward, unlike any other instruction I've seen. Kinda annoyed that Vive didn't have anything on installing the actual hardware on their website or in the box, of all places. Just a question: Will I be able to do a recalibration if I decide to change rooms?
Weird, I had directions in my box and installed no problem. However, I'm highly grateful this video is up b/c... well... I don't have the directions anymore and after moving I wanted to make I didn't mess up the install in the new room, lol. The video has great detail, highly appreciated!

Ok ik this is an old thread but the workaround I used to at least use it was to hover your mouse one click away from starting steam vr like position your mouse over the button, and then switch HDMI from the moniter to the vr set and click, being careful not to move the mouse. Wait a few seconds and the vr set should light up green and flash white in the lens, and you can control things from there. But if something goes wrong you can't see it so you gotta unplug it and replug the moniter so 🤷

Before purchasing a VR set, you can download the "SteamVR Performance Test" on Steam. This will run your computer through a series of visual tests and then provide a score to let you know if your current setup is powerful enough to handle VR, or if you'll need to upgrade.

I know this video is old but hope you will respond. I have a triple monitor setup. A monitor connected through my pc’s hdmi port, another monitor connected through the vga port, and my third monitor connected through the graphics card’s hdmi port. How would that work if I need to connect the link box through the graphics card’s hdmi port?
from what i can assume, you do not have an other hdmi port on your graphics card, therefore out of hdmi ports. my best guesses are: if you have an other output on your pc that would work with your screens, try to moove them over if they are not too important and plug the vr headset into the graphics card. otherwise if you don't have any ports left, i can only see 2 options: option one: if a type-c port on your pc is avivable you are in luck, there are several type-c hubs out there with a spare hdmi port, several usb-a and maybe a type-c port, put your monitor into that hdmi port and your vr headset into the graphics card. (ALSO ATTACH A HEATSINK or anything that might help offloading the heat off that hub, it WILL get warm and need cooling to have a longer lifetime (yep did use that on my old gaming laptop and it worked fine for my tertiery screen, but i had to slap some passive heatsinks with thermal pads on it to keep it from acting weird. option two: get an other CHEAP graphics card with at least one hdmi port (at best two) and put that into a free pci slot, IN THE REGULAR CHASE (as far as i know, LIMITED KNOWLEDGE AT BEST, DO AT OWN RISK) your primary graphics card should handle the load and use the second graphics card as a passthrough just like with the one on your motherboard, therefore it will not really matter if the card is good or not. BUT the real problem i see here is sadly your graphics card, that many displays on a card is really a heavy load and by that output setup i doubt it would have the horsepower to back it up, i barely see any other way than you might be having to upgrade to a new card entirely (may use your current one for lesser important screens). I can only say good luck.
So is the only thing that we are plugging into the laptop/computer is an HDMI cord and a USB cord? I don't have a computer but I have a gaming laptop and I want this vive to work o.o
