Thank you for this great comparison, just what I wanted to see!! After 4 months, I've had enough of the Pixel 8 Pro and I'm replacing it with the Xiaomi 14. Initially, coming from the Pixel 5, I felt the photos were amazing, and capabilities of the 3 lenses covered pretty much everything you'd ever need. However over time, I've come to realise, the P8P still oversharpens the heck out of everything. Most visible in portraits and low light scenes with high contrast. Yes the P8P can squeeze more dynamic range out of a scene, but I've got to the point where I feel like the photos it produces have lost their realism. It seems the Xiaomi 14 photos are a lot less processed and natural looking. The Pixel is a phone which anyone can click the shutter and get a pretty decent shot. Using a camera or the Xiaomi will depend more on the skill of the photographer, rather than AI doing most of the work. 7:36 was this using portrait mode or the Xiaomi natural bokeh? If natural, this is a great example of less processing, particularly in the skin texture and tones. It's no wonder my gf hates every photo of her taken on my Pixel and says she can see every pore on her face 😂 It seems portraits on the Pixel make everyone look 10 years older!
the new image-processing of pixel cameras have gone worse after the camera version 9. Too much contrast and too much darkening on shadows. before, the exposure was great, now it's so bad

The Pixel 8 Pro, using UltraHDR in all its sensors (maximum resolution of the sensors at 48, 50 and 48 mpx), has a different (more natural) processing than the 12 mpx mode, and is simply unbeatable, not even one-size-fits-all sensors. inch or anything, the Pixel is better, day and night (especially at night with 50 megapixels, the degree of detail is excellent), in Zoom with 48 megapixels it is also better, neither Xiaomi, nor Samsung, nor any other is Better if you use the maximum resolution of the telephoto sensor. And if you use Video Boost, both day and night (especially at night), the difference is abysmal, not even the iPhone comes close in quality. Whoever wants to see it, perfect, and whoever doesn't want to see it is denying a crushing reality, the post processing continues to make a difference, no matter how many one-inch sensor you use (I already know that the Xiaomi 14 does not have a one-inch sensor, but not even the Ultra surpasses the Pixel), none equals or surpasses a Pixel 8 Pro with UltraHDR (48, 50 and 48 mpx), that's it, and there is nothing more. How do I know, very simple, because I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, a Xiaomi 14 Ultra and a Pixel 8 Pro, and my personal phone is the Pixel 8 Pro, for user experience and cameras, in which I also have several versions of GCam installed that I use as it suits me, as I said, UNSURPASSED.
Wow kudos to xiaomi for stepping up in 2024. In some shots it even surpassed the pixel. Great to see natural colours on xiaomi . Also pixel is still stuck with oversharpening specially in porraits and in the night. Definetely xiaomi is my pick whether to choose between it and pixel or samsung s24/+. Thanks for the comperision.
Pixels result in too artificially looking flat and over-HDR processed pictures and very bad white balance (too cold tones) especially when taking pictures of nature with naturally lots of green color (grass, foliage) in the view. It also tries hard to add artificially blue sky even in situations when there is very little blue in the sky. For me Pixels are not good for nature photography. They produce some of the worst pictures I have seen among flagships.
Thank you so much for the thorough comparison as I was undecided between the two. The google 8 pro won hands down for me - sharper , true colors and more light. You made my decision easy.
i feel like xiaomi heavily downgraded in terms of camera, they had such amazing cameras years ago but these days idk what they doing. even other devices that are cheaper or about the same than the xiaomi 14 & are better in terms of camera & they have all the same features & soc in the device. (honor, oneplus). i myself i have a p8p since i wanted to try out the "technology" & try out the "google" hardware. its not bad. selfie cam is alright, dont use it anyway other than face-unlock which works without any problems. overall its a good phone with some downgrades but the xiaomi has some too, when looking at the cam & no real or only barebone AI feature. by looking at this video & other tests the camera sucks massively. even when comparing it from my dads 3 year old poco phone it loses. everytime they seem to forget to sharpen the picture or the software make it blurry for some reason + the video stabilizer didnt get fixed since 5-6 years having a lot of distortion when moving the camera in darker scenes which is unacceptable in 2024. atm priced are both kinda the same. at release i had could saved ~50-100$ for the xiaomi but now the xiaomi 14 is 750 & the pixel 8 pro is 740. (with less space but i never use the 128gb anyway yet still having 80 apps installed + 250+ photos currently saved (70gb space left) - so i never care if the phone has 128, 256 or 512 gb of space as long it does its job reliable
The selfie camera on the pixel is terrible, the Xiaomi has that bokeh effect on the zoom I guess also the zoom lens on the Xiaomi can do macro shots(floating lens), the Pixel back cameras are overall better to the eye on this video on YT, Xiaomi is impressive for the price could be the best value premium phone on the market, Pixel is Pixel you know what you're getting, a device packed with technology, honestly i prefer the Xiaomi 14, cheaper and has a lot more storage, the Pixel 8 Pro too expensive the starting one has 128GB, for a phone like that it is a joke, I think the Xiaomi 14 512GB is cheaper than the Pixel 8 Pro 128GB.
In my professional opinion, the S24 Ultra stands out as the most impressive device of the year. It seamlessly integrates a comprehensive range of functional features, making it a highly versatile and efficient tool.
That floating lens 3.2x is a portrait heaven.
Thank you for this great comparison, just what I wanted to see!!

i feel like xiaomi heavily downgraded in terms of camera, they had such amazing cameras years ago but these days idk what they doing. even other devices that are cheaper or about the same than the xiaomi 14 & are better in terms of camera & they have all the same features & soc in the device.
How i wish Pixel 8 pro will compare to Vivo x flagship
Xiaomi kill Pixel 😁😊
Xiaomi is pretty poor. Shame as lovely looking phone.
In my professional opinion, the S24 Ultra stands out as the most impressive device of the year. It seamlessly integrates a comprehensive range of functional features, making it a highly versatile and efficient tool.
What does that have to do with this comparison? I'm confused.
As I see the tested devices here, they appear to be incomplete and lacking in functionality.
And what exactly functions have to do with the quality. 😂
lmao s24u sucks
The S24 Ultra is a snow board...
Alternative title: Pixel 8 Pro Smackdown on Xiaomi 14
No , it doesn't beat it at all really . It's personal preference
Exactly as I thought. Excited to get the pixel 8 pro.
P8 Pro has that oomph that is missing in the X 14..plus the faces are way too waxy on the X 14
Have a good look at (6:08) selfie. I would prefer "waxy" face rather than Pixel's zombified one.

It's final. I'm going to get a Xiaomi 14 inshaAllah. It has better chip (sd 8 gen 3), better night video recording
They are both Great but maybe the Pixel
Xiaomi cant never beat Pixel phone... perhaps another few more years or more.
The best pixel 8
